The garage — instruments, calculators, minicomputers, workstations, printers. Absorbed Apollo, DEC (via Compaq), and most of what Silicon Valley once was.

Founded in the Palo Alto garage in 1939 — the founding myth of Silicon Valley — HP built test instruments, then the 2116A minicomputer (1966), the HP-35 scientific calculator, and the HP 9000 workstation line.
It absorbed Apollo (1989), Compaq-with-DEC (2002), EDS, Palm, 3Com, and more — the industry's consolidator. It split into HP Inc. and HPE in 2015.
