AdaLogic BASIC is not one compiler — it is a dispatcher plus sixteen backend tools sharing one front end. Write once in ALB, then ship native x86-64 assembly, C source, TypeScript/WebAssembly for the browser, or one of thirteen other language targets — down to 6502 assembly for retro hardware. This page lists every tool we build on, and every toolchain we bundle. All links go to the projects' own sites.

The compiler family

alb_player is the standalone interpreter/runner, and alb_prompt the interactive prompt — both ship alongside the compilers.

New in October 2026: malbr and malb join the family as standalone compilers rather than backend cards — MALBR emits #![no_std] Rust for embedded and foreign toolchains, and MALB is the same compiler written in ALB itself, proven self-hosting with a byte-identical bootstrap fixpoint. See the wiki article for the full story.

The bundled SDK

ALB ships its own toolchain so nothing has to be installed separately. Versions as bundled in the current release:

Host-language blocks

Inside a single ALB file, ENABLE/INLINE blocks open the door to raw code in other languages. Working today: assembly, Ada, Java, TypeScript, C, and C#. Parser-recognized and coming later: Python, Lua 5.4, Ruby, and JavaScript. IMPORT/EXPORT declarations wire in external DLL, SO, dylib, JAR, ES-module, and WebAssembly libraries.

Logos & brand assets

The ALB wordmark comes in three flavors — free to reuse and resize when writing about or linking to the project.

Standing on shoulders Every project linked here is open source or free to use — ALB exists because these tools do. If you are building something similar, start with them. ALB itself is open source too — since October 8, 2026, every backend and every SDK tool is Apache 2.0, distributed right here on this site. Services and extra packages are available at alb-lang.com.
