Unix's own team, second attempt — everything really is a file, per-process namespaces, 9P; too early for its century, still mined for ideas.

Plan 9 from Bell Labs (1992) — the Unix team's next experiment — took 'everything is a file' to its conclusion: per-process namespaces, 9P as the universal protocol, Rio as the GUI, and Inferno/Limbo as successor experiments.\n\nRob Pike and Ken Thompson's clean-slate design influenced everything it touched (Go, /proc, UTF-8); Plan 9 itself never left the lab. It's now under the Plan 9 Foundation's MIT license.
