Bill Atkinson's HyperTalk (1987) — HyperCard's language — was English-like scripting for the masses: 'put the seconds into field "clock"', stack-of-cards metaphor, scripts on objects.\n\nHyperCard made ordinary people programmers; its descendants (LiveCode, SuperCard) persist, and the stack metaphor prefigured the web.
