Japan's IT giant — mainframes, the K computer, ICL and Amdahl's inheritances, and decades of the FTSE's least flashy most durable tech business.

Acquisitions ICL Amdahl Corporation

Fuji Tsushinki (1935, Furukawa-Siemens JV) became Japan's computer champion — FACOM mainframes, the FM-8/FM-Towns home computers, SPARC-based servers, and the K computer (2011, world's fastest at the time).

Fujitsu absorbed ICL and most of Amdahl, making it quietly the largest non-US IT services firm. It exited consumer PCs in 2018 but remains in servers and services.
