Palm's cards-and-gestures Linux — died as a phone OS twice, resurrected as the OS inside LG's smart TVs.

Descended from Linux
Created by Palm Computing

Palm's webOS (2009) rebuilt a mobile OS on web tech — cards UI, Synergy sync, JavaScript apps on a Linux base. It was the most elegant mobile OS and the most mismanaged.\n\nHP bought Palm, killed the hardware within a year, open-sourced it, and LG bought it for TVs — it's still the OS in most smart TVs sold.
