The microkernel that never left — realtime message-passing since 1982; now the OS inside a quarter-billion car dashboards.

QNX (1982) is the microkernel that worked — Gordon Bell and Dan Dodge's message-passing kernel for embedded real-time work, POSIX-compliant, and shipped in cars, nuclear plants, and the iPhone's baseband chips.\n\nBlackBerry bought it in 2010; QNX 8 still runs in 195 million vehicles and most hospital equipment.
