Apple DOS grown up — hierarchical directories and a sane API; served the Apple II line to the end.

Ran on Apple II
Predecessors Apple DOS

ProDOS (1983) replaced Apple DOS on the II series — a proper hierarchical filesystem, standardized drivers, the ProFile hard disk support, and the 8-bit Apple's bridge to the professional world.\n\nProDOS 8 and ProDOS 16 (for the IIgs) ran until 1993; the community still writes new software for it.
