Predecessors ML

Standard ML (1983) — Milner, Tofte, and Harper's formalization of ML — gave the language a mathematical definition (The Definition of Standard ML, 1990/1997).\n\nSML/NJ and MLton are the canonical implementations; the module system is still the field's reference for parameterized abstraction.
