'DYnamic LANguage' — Apple, CMU, and Harlequin's Lisp-for-the-mainstream, killed by the Newton's failure and Java's arrival. Open Dylan still compiles it.

Created by Apple Computer

Apple's Dylan (1992) — 'DYnamic LANguage' — was Lisp disguised as ALGOL: multiple dispatch, optional typing, macros, designed for the Newton.\n\nApple cancelled it; Harlequin/CMU carried it as Open Dylan. Its design — Lisp without parens — remains the road not taken.
