Notable people Herman Hollerith

Hollerith patented electric tabulation for the 1890 US Census — punched cards read by pins closing circuits through mercury cups — and incorporated TMC in 1896 to sell the system to railroads and governments. By 1911 he had disputes with his directors and sold to Charles Ranlett Flint's trust, which merged it with three other firms into C-T-R.
