Honeywell Alive
Thermostat giant that bought GE's computer business and ran Multics' commercial descendants — GCOS, then Bull — until the last Multics machine shut down in 2000.
Honeywell entered computers with the H-200 'Liberator' (1963), deliberately IBM-1401 compatible. It bought GE's computer division in 1970, inheriting the GE-600 line and the Multics project, which it shipped commercially as the 6180.
The last operational Multics system (at the Canadian DND) shut down October 30, 2000. Honeywell exited computers entirely by 1991, selling to Bull; the parent is now an aerospace and controls conglomerate.
