TempleOS Dead

One man's complete operating system — kernel, compiler, shell, and userland in HolyC, 640×480, ring-0 only, no networking, ~125,000 lines; finished the way a temple is finished.
Terry A. Davis built TempleOS alone (2003–2013) — 100,000+ lines, 64-bit, ring-0, no memory protection, a compiler + shell + editor + flight simulator in a 16 MB distribution, with direct divine communion via random numbers.\n\nIt's documented as both a technical achievement (a self-hosted OS written entirely by one person) and a tragedy (its creator's documented mental illness). Davis died in 2018; the OS is preserved on its own site and as an exhibit in itself.
