DEC's timesharing PDP-11 system — the BASIC-PLUS environment that taught a generation of students; where VAX/VMS's user instincts formed.

Created by Digital Equipment Corporation

RSTS/E — DEC's BASIC-PLUS timesharing system for the PDP-11 — let dozens of terminals share one mini, all programming in a dialect DEC built for education. It dominated school computing in the 1970s.\n\nThe BASIC-PLUS dialect it ran is the direct ancestor of the BASIC line that eventually reached CP/M's BBC BASIC and Microsoft BASIC.
