RadioShack's entry — the third of the 1977 trinity, and for a while the best-selling of them all, because 3,000 stores could sell one to anyone who walked in.

Created by Tandy Corporation

Tandy's TRS-80 (August 1977) — Z80, Level I BASIC, $599 with monitor — sold through RadioShack's 3,000+ stores and briefly outsold both rivals. The 'Trash-80' nickname was affectionate.

It was the most accessible of the 1977 trinity — you could walk into any mall and buy one. The line continued through Model III/4 and the Color Computer; the Model 100 (1983) pioneered the laptop.
