The purple graphics workstation — IRIX, OpenGL, and digital video when that meant something. Jurassic Park was rendered on its bigger siblings.

The Indy (1993) was SGI's affordable graphics workstation — R4400, 3D acceleration, digital video standard, in teal-purple plastic. It shipped with the IndyCam, one of the first consumer video cameras.

IRIX + OpenGL made SGI the effects workstation of the 90s; the Indy was its accessible end. Commodity 3D killed the business model; Indy is the model retrocomputing's nostalgia machine.
