Britain's valve-era workhorse — notable today because a 1959 Pegasus still runs: the oldest working computer in the world, booted regularly at London's Science Museum.

Created by Ferranti

Ferranti built 38 Pegasus machines — valve-driven, drum-memory computers with a distinctive console — for British industry from 1956. The last ran until the early 1970s.

The Science Museum's 1959 Pegasus is maintained in working order and periodically operated — currently the oldest functional computer anywhere. Visitors can watch it run programs on a teleprinter.
