Wirth's discipline carried to its conclusion — a systems language and an entire workstation OS in a 16-page report. Small is powerful, made literal.

Wirth's Oberon (1987) — Modula-2 stripped further, garbage collection added — was designed to be the smallest complete system: language, compiler, OS (Project Oberon), and documentation all in one book.\n\nOberon-07 is even smaller; the entire system fits in ~3,000 lines. It is the purest expression of 'small is powerful' as an engineering discipline.
