The research consortium's peak Wirthian language — objects, generics, GC, threads, partial revelations of unsafe code; too elegant for its market window.

Descended from Modula-2
Created by Luca Cardelli
Influenced Python

DEC/Olivetti's Modula-3 (1988) — the Modula line's peak — added objects, exceptions, generics, and threads to Wirth's base, with a formal definition (SPWM3).\n\nIt was the most elegant systems-OO language never to matter commercially; Critical Mass's CM3 and Modula-3.org maintain it.
