The dBase compiler that made xBase a real language — a generation of small-business software was compiled by it.

Descended from dBase

Nantucket's Clipper (1985) — the dBASE compiler — turned interpreted xBase into compiled .exe's and made business apps shippable without Ashton-Tate.\n\nHarbour is its open-source continuation; the xBase diaspora runs on it still.
