Nijmegen's lazy functional language with uniqueness types — Haskell's Dutch twin that arrived at the same ideas from the same year.

Nijmegen's Clean (1987) — the lazy FP language with uniqueness types — solved the 'how do you do IO in a pure language' problem differently: type-safe mutable world instead of monads.\n\nConcurrent Clean and the ABC machine were its implementation; it remains the alternative-universe Haskell.
