R. 8449 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES April 22, 2026Ms. Lee of Florida introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary A BILL To amend title 28, United States Code, to adjust the amount in controversy requirement for diversity cases, and for other purposes. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Federal Diversity Jurisdiction Modernization Act of 2026. 2. Amendment to amount in controversy requirement (a) Amendment to title 28, united states code Section 1332(a) of title 28, United States Code, is amended by striking $75,000 and inserting $500,000. (b) Applicability The amendment made by this section shall apply to any civil action commenced on or after the date of enactment of this Act.
