R. 8932 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES July 5, 2024Mrs. Houchin introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Education and the Workforce A BILL To establish an earlier application processing cycle for the FAFSA. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the FAFSA Deadline Act. 2. FAFSA submission date Section 483(d)(4) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1090(d)(4)) is amended by striking not later than January 1 of the applicant’s planned year of enrollment, to the maximum extent practicable, on or around October 1 prior to the applicant’s planned year of enrollment and inserting not later than October 1 prior to the applicant's planned year of enrollment.
