R. 5214 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES August 15, 2023Mr. Green of Texas introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Financial Services A BILL To mandate certain hours for in-person branch offices of depository institutions, and for other purposes. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Original Open for Business Act of 2023. 2. Depository institution hours (a) In general Beginning on the date that is 180 days after the date of the enactment of this section, each branch location of a depository institution with in-person customer service shall remain open for business (except on a Federal holiday)— (1) until 7 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday; and (2) for a minimum of 4 hours on Saturday. (b) Depository institution defined In this section, the term depository institution shall have the meaning given the term in section 3 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
