R. 5157 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES August 4, 2023Ms. Salinas (for herself and Mr. Neguse) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture A BILL To amend the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978 to reauthorize and expand State-wide assessment and strategies for forest resources. 1. State-wide assessment and strategies for forest resources Section 2A(f) of the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978 (16 U.S.C. 2101a(f)) is amended— (1) in paragraph (1), by striking 2023 and inserting 2028; (2) in paragraph (2), by striking $10,000,000 and inserting $50,000,000; and (3) by adding at the end the following: (3) Implementation of State-wide assessments and strategies for forest resources In addition to the authorization of appropriations in paragraph (1), there are authorized to be appropriated up to $40,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2023 through 2028 for the purposes of supporting the implementation of State-wide assessments and strategies for forest resources under this section. .
