R. 2890 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES April 26, 2023Ms. Jayapal (for herself and Mrs. Spartz) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary A BILL To amend the Federal Trade Commission Act to make hospital organizations and cooperative hospital service organizations subject to the law relating to unfair methods of competition. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Stop Anticompetitive Healthcare Act of 2023. 2. Amendment The 2d undesignated paragraph of section 4 of the Federal Trade Commission Act (15 U.S.C. 44) is amended by inserting before the period at the end the following: , and includes with respect to unfair methods of competition, any hospital organization or cooperative hospital service organization that is described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and exempt from taxation under section 501(a) of such Code .
