II 117th CONGRESS 1st Session S. 1639 IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES May 13, 2021Mr. Merkley introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources A BILL To amend the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 to reauthorize the energy efficiency and conservation block grant program. 1. Reauthorization of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program Section 548(a) of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (42 U.S.C. 17158(a)) is amended— (1) in paragraph (1)— (A) by striking $2,000,000,000 and inserting $10,000,000,000; and (B) by striking 2008 through 2012 and inserting 2021 through 2030; and (2) in paragraph (2), in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking program and all that follows through 2012 in subparagraph (C) and inserting program $50,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2021 through 2030.
