practices on maternal mortality         
prevention to hospitals1 ,state-based   
professional societies1 and perinatal   
quality collaboratives1 and for other   
purposes4  #a4  ,preventing maternal    
deaths  7a7  ,maternal mortality review 
committee  ,section #cag,k7d7 of the    
,public ,health ,service ,act 7#db      
,u4,s4,c4 #bdg;b-#ab7;d77 is amended--  
7#a7 in paragraph 7#a77;,a71 by         

inserting 7including obstetricians and  
gynecologists7 after clinical           
specialties2 and  7#b7 in paragraph     
7#c77;,a77i7-- 7,a7 in subclause 7,i71  
by striking as applicable and inserting 
if available2 and  7,b7 in subclause    
7,,iii71 by striking 1 as appropriate   
and inserting and coordinating with     
death certifiers to improve the         
collection of death record reports and  
the quality of death records1 including 
by amending cause-of-death information  
on a death certificate1 as appropriate4

prevention of maternal mortality

 is amended--  7#a7 by redesignating    
subsections 7e7 and 7f7 as subsections  
7f7 and 7g71 respectively2 and  7#b7 by 
inserting after subsection 7d7 the      
following3  7e7  ,best practices        
relating to the prevention of maternal  
mortality  7#a7  ,in general  ,the      
,secretary1 acting through the ,director

 of the ,centers for ,disease ,control  
and ,prevention1 shall1 in consultation 
with the ,administrator of the ,health  
,resources and ,services                
,administration1 disseminate to         
hospitals1 ,state professional society  
groups1 and perinatal quality           
collaboratives1 best practices on how to
 prevent maternal mortality and         
morbidity that consider and reflect best
 practices identified through other     
relevant ,federal maternal health       
programs4  7#b7  ,frequency  ,the       
,secretary1 acting through the ,director
 of the ,centers for ,disease ,control  
and ,prevention1 shall disseminate the  
best practices referred to in paragraph 
7#a7 not less frequently than once per  
fiscal year4  4  7c7  ,extension
