,a ,,bill  ,to amend the ,patient       
,protection and ,affordable ,care ,act  
to expand eligibility for catastrophic  
plans4  #a4 ,short title ,this ,act may 
be cited as the ,improved ,medical      
,patients ,affordable ,care ,today ,act 
of #bjbe or the ,,impact ,act of #bjbe4 
#b4 ,findings ,congress finds the       
following3 7#a7 ,accessing affordable   
quality health care is paramount to the 
citizens of our ,nation1 including the  
ability to obtain critical medical      
services while maintaining lower premium
 structures designed for financial      
accessibility4  7#b7 ,addressing major  
affordability issues impacting access to
 care in a landscape of increasing      
healthcare costs is of utmost           

importance1 including stabilizing       
insurance markets countering the cycle  
of rising premiums4  7#c7 ,enhancing    
provider stability by reducing          
uncompensated care resulting from       
uninsured patients is critical to the   
continued strength of our ,nation's     
health care systems4  #c4 ,expanding    
eligibility for catastrophic plans  7a7 
,in general ,section #acjb7;e77#b7 of   
the ,patient ,protection and ,affordable
 ,care ,act 7#db ,u4,s4,c4              
#ahjbb7;e77#b77 is amended-- 7#a7 in    
subparagraph 7,b77ii71 by striking the  
period at the end and inserting 2 or2   
and  7#b7 by adding at the end the      
following new subparagraph3  7,c7 with  
respect to the plan year involved1 is   
determined to be ineligible 7or         
reasonably expects to be ineligible7 for
 the premium tax credit under section   
#cf;,b of the ,internal ,revenue ,code  
of #aihf or for reduced cost-sharing    
under section #adjb on the basis of the 
individual's household income for such  

year4  4  7b7 ,effective date ,the      
amendments made by this section shall   
apply with respect to plan years        
beginning on or after six months of     
enactment4
