 ,service set aside #gee1jjj acres as   
the ,gila ,wilderness2 ,whereas this was
 the first designated wilderness in the 
,united ,states and the world2 ,whereas 
this designation marked the beginning of
 a national system of wilderness areas  
and helped inspire the ,wilderness ,act 
of #aifd 7#af ,u4,s4,c4 #aaca et seq472 
,whereas ,aldo ,leopold1 a ,forest      
,service employee in ,new ,mexico1      
worked to initiate a ,federal wilderness
 concept in the backcountry of what is  
now the ,gila ,national ,forest2        
,whereas ,arthur ,carhart1 a ,forest    
,service employee1 argued that          

wilderness recreation would help to     
develop individual and national         
character2 ,whereas the ,apache and     
,mimbres people have been stewards of   
this land from time immemorial2 and     
,whereas1 #ajj years later1 the         
character of the ,gila ,wilderness      
remains without permanent human-built   
structures1 protected and managed to    
preserve this condition1 and the        
wilderness remains a place unrestrained 
by human development3 ,now1 therefore1  
be it ,that ,congress commemorates the  
#ajjth anniversary of the designation of
 the ,gila ,wilderness4
