technical training certificate programs1
 apprenticeship programs1 and other     
training programs  7a7 ,in general      
,paragraph 7#h7 of section #ebi7;c7 of  
the ,internal ,revenue ,code of #aihf is
 amended to read as follows3  7#h7      
,treatment of certain expenses          
associated with technical training      
certificate programs1 registered        

apprenticeship programs1 and other      
training programs ,any reference in this
 subsection to the term qualified higher
 education expense shall include a      
reference to expenses for fees1 books1  
supplies1 and equipment required for the
 participation of a designated          
beneficiary in-- 7,a7 an apprenticeship 
program registered and certified with   
the ,secretary of ,labor under the ,act 
of ,august #af1 #aicg 7commonly known as
 the ,national ,apprenticeship ,act2 #ej
 ,stat4 #ffd1 chapter #ffc2 #bi         
,u4,s4,c4 #ej et seq471  7,b7 a         
preapprenticeship program as defined in 
section #fha4dhj of title #bj1 ,code of 
,federal ,regulations 7or any succeeding
 regulation71  7,c7 a program of high   
school career and technical education   
7as the terms high school and career and
 technical education are defined in     
section #c of the ,carl ,d4 ,perkins    
,career and ,technical ,education ,act  
of #bjjf 7#bi ,u4,s4,c4 #bcjb771 or     
7,d7 obtaining or maintaining a         

recognized postsecondary credential as  
defined in section #c of the ,workforce 
,innovation and ,opportunity ,act 7#bi  
,u4,s4,c4 #cajb71 including testing and 
other fees required by the organization 
issuing the recognized postsecondary    
credential as a condition of obtaining  
or maintaining the credential4  4  7b7  
,effective date ,the amendment made by  
this section shall apply to expenses    
paid or incurred after the date of the  
enactment of this ,act for programs     
beginning after the date of the         
enactment of this ,act4
