,health ,awareness ,day4  ,whereas      
children in the ,united ,states were    
already experiencing a public health    
crisis of mental and behavioral health  
before the additional challenges of the 
,,covid-#ai pandemic2 ,whereas a #bjac  
report from the ,centers for ,disease   
,control and ,prevention estimated that 
mental disorders affect between #ac and 
#bj percent of children each year and   
cost #bdg1jjj1jjj1jjj annually2 ,whereas
 the ,national ,institute of ,mental    
,health estimates that nearly  of       

adolescents 7#di4e percent of the       
population aged #ac to #ah7 will        
experience a mental disorder2 ,whereas1 
in #bjai1 according to the ,census      
,bureau1 over #aa percent of children   
aged #c to #ag received treatment or    
counseling from a mental health         
professional2 ,whereas suicide is the   
third leading cause of death for youth  
aged #aj to #bd1 and #ij percent of     
youth suicide deaths involve an         
underlying mental illness2 ,whereas1    
during the ,,covid-#ai pandemic1        
increased isolation and collective      
trauma has led to an increase in demand 
for mental health services for children2
 ,whereas1 compared with #bjai1 the     
proportion of visits of children to     
emergency rooms for concerns relating to
 mental health increased between        
approximately #bd and #ca percent2      
,whereas the ,,covid-#ai pandemic has   
laid bare the inequities in the mental  
health delivery system for all          
populations in the ,united ,states1     

specifically impacting children and     
adults who have been exposed to adverse 
childhood experiences2 and ,whereas the 
stigma surrounding mental and behavioral
 health persists1 and acknowledging this
 public health crisis and creating      
awareness as early as possible is as    
important as ever3 ,now1 therefore1 be  
it ,that the ,senate-- 7#a7 recognizes  
the importance of connecting children   
with appropriate mental and behavioral  
health services and supports2  7#b7     
seeks to create awareness for the       
additional challenges children and their
 families have faced during the         
,,covid-#ai pandemic due to isolation   
from family and peers1 barriers to      
services1 and exposure to traumas2  7#c7
 supports programs and services aimed at
 expanding access to care1 building     
resiliency1 and addressing trauma2 and  
7#d7 shows appreciation and gratitude   
for family members1 friends1 educators1 
mental and behavioral health service    
providers1 and others in their support  

for the mental health and well-being of 
children4
