#a4 ,findings ,congress finds the following3 7#a7 ,major ,brent ,taylor began his military service following the attacks of ,september #aa1 #bjja4 ,he joined the ,army ,national ,guard in #bjjc1 three days after his engagement to his wife1 ,jennie4 ,five of his brothers would eventually serve in the ,armed ,forces following the deadly attacks4 7#b7 ,during his time in the ,army ,national ,guard1 ,major ,taylor distinguished himself in service to the ,united ,states and the ,state of ,utah4 ,he received a commission as a second lieutenant from the ,brigham ,young ,university ,reserve ,officer ,training ,corps in #bjjf1 while graduating as a member of the ,national ,society of ,collegiate ,scholars4 7#c7 ,during his impressive career with the ,utah ,national ,guard1 ,major ,taylor distinguished himself in multiple specialties1 including ,intelligence and ,military ,police4 ,one of his earliest assignments included analyzing foreign language documents in support of the ,defense ,intelligence ,agency4 ,he also led document exploitation efforts in multiple ,european and ,south ,american languages for a variety of intelligence community customers4 ,major ,taylor also managed a team that assessed security vulnerabilities at high-profile facilities across the ,united ,states1 all while maintaining a successful private sector career in ,utah4 7#d7 ,major ,taylor was continuously ready to take up a call to arms from the ,united ,states and deployed four times in support of operations in ,iraq and ,afghanistan4 ,his deployed duties varied from ,platoon ,leader and ,combat ,advisor to ,chief of ,staff to the ,special ,operations ,advisory ,group1 responsible for leading a joint task force advising and assisting an elite ,afghan special operations unit4 7#e7 ,throughout his deployments1 ,major ,taylor distinguished himself on several occasions1 earning a multitude of awards including the ,bronze ,star4 ,the citation credits the ability of ,major ,taylor to think calmly and decisively to keep his subordinates safe while traversing #fjj1jjj miles of roads in ,iraq1 laden with improvised explosive devices 7commonly referred to as ,,ied7 and ripe for ambush4 7#f7 ,during one particularly harrowing mission1 ,major ,taylor's vehicle was struck by an ,,ied4 ,although he survived the attack1 the wounds he received earned him the ,purple ,heart4 7#g7 ,major ,taylor's amazing record of service was not limited to the battlefield4 ,in #bjaj1 he served as a member of the ,north ,ogden ,city ,council and1 in #bjac1 ,major ,taylor was elected mayor4 ,his steadfast leadership led to the city being recognized as ,business ,friendly by the ,governor of ,utah1 and as one of the safest1 freest cities in the ,united ,states by several organizations4 ,his initiatives included improvements to public works and infrastructure1 attracting businesses to the area1 developing a local community center1 and increasing transparency4 ,his action led his constituents to reelect ,major ,taylor in #bjag4 7#h7 ,in #bjah1 ,major ,taylor placed himself on a leave of absence from his mayoral duties in order to deploy to ,afghanistan1 explaining to his constituents1 ,service is what leadership is all about44 7#i7 ,while serving in ,afghanistan1 a dear colleague1 ,afghani ,lieutenant ,kefayatullah1 was killed shortly before the ,afghan elections4 ,major ,taylor wrote1 ,the strong turnout at that election1 despite the attacks and challenges1 was a success for the long-suffering people of ,afghanistan1 and for the cause of human freedom4 ,i am proud of the brave ,afghan and ,u4,s4 soldiers ,i serve with4 ,many ,american1 ,,nato and ,afghan troops have died to make moments like this election possible44 ,he also extolled the ,american public to embrace its civic duty1 stating1 ,i hope everyone back home exercises their precious right to vote4 ,and that whether the ,republicans or ,democrats win1 that we all remember that we have far more as ,americans that unites us than divides us44 7#aj7 ,tragically1 on ,saturday1 ,november #c1 #bjah1 ,major ,taylor was killed in an attack in ,afghanistan4 ,he was survived by his wife1 ,jennie1 and his seven children1 ,megan1 ,lincoln1 ,alex1 ,jacob1 ,ellie1 ,jonathan1 and ,caroline4 7#aa7 ,the impression that ,major ,taylor left was indelible4 ,an ,afghan officer who had served with ,major ,taylor penned a letter to his wife1 stating1 ,your husband taught me to love my wife ,hamida as an equal and treat my children as treasured gifts1 to be a better father1 to be a better husband1 and to be a better man44 ,that officer further commented that1 ,he died on our soil but he died for the success of freedom and democracy in both of our countries44 7#ab7 ,it is only well and fitting that1 as a tribute to the amazing life of ,major ,taylor1 ,congress name a facility in honor of ,major ,taylor's shining example of service and sacrifice4 #b4 ,designation of ,major ,brent ,taylor ,vet ,center ,outstation in ,north ,ogden1 ,utah 7a7 ,designation ,the outstation of the ,department of ,veterans ,affairs located at #bceg ,north #djj ,east ,washington ,boulevard1 ,north ,ogden1 ,utah1 shall after the date of the enactment of this ,act be known and designated as the ,major ,brent ,taylor ,vet ,center ,outstation4 7b7 ,reference ,any reference in any law1 regulation1 map1 document1 paper1 or other record of the ,united ,states to the facility referred to in subsection 7a7 shall be considered to be a reference to the ,major ,brent ,taylor ,vet ,center ,outstation4 ,passed the
