watershed1 to be administered by the ,secretary of the ,interior1 in cooperation with the ,wood-,pawcatuck ,wild and ,scenic ,rivers ,stewardship ,council3 7,a7 ,the approximately #aa-mile segment of the ,beaver ,river from its headwaters in ,exeter and ,west ,greenwich1 ,rhode ,island1 to its confluence with the ,pawcatuck ,river in ,richmond1 ,rhode ,island1 as a scenic river4 7,b7 ,the approximately #c-mile segment of the ,chipuxet ,river from the ,kingstown ,road ,bridge1 ,south ,kingstown1 ,rhode ,island1 to its outlet in ,worden ,pond1 as a wild river4 7,c7 ,the approximately #i-mile segment of the ,green ,fall ,river from its headwaters in ,voluntown1 ,connecticut1 to its confluence with the ,ashaway ,river in ,hopkinton1 ,rhode ,island1 as a scenic river4 7,d7 ,the approximately #c-mile segment of the ,ashaway ,river from its confluence with the ,green ,fall ,river to its confluence with the ,pawcatuck ,river in ,hopkinton1 ,rhode ,island1 as a recreational ,arcadia ,road ,bridge in ,hopkinton and ,richmond1 ,rhode ,island1 to the confluence with the ,pawcatuck ,river in ,charlestown1 ,hopkinton1 and ,richmond1 ,rhode ,island1 as a recreational river4 4 7b7 ,management of river segments 7#a7 ,definitions ,in this subsection3 7,a7 ,covered tributary ,the term covered tributary means-- 7i7 each of ,assekonk ,brook1 ,breakheart ,brook1 ,brushy ,brook1 ,canochet ,brook1 ,chickasheen ,brook1 ,cedar ,swamp ,brook1 ,fisherville ,brook1 ,glade ,brook1 ,glen ,rock ,brook1 ,kelly ,brook1 ,locke ,brook1 ,meadow ,brook1 ,pendleton ,brook1 ,parris ,brook1 ,passquisett ,brook1 ,phillips ,brook1 ,poquiant ,brook1 ,queens ,fort ,brook1 ,roaring ,brook1 ,sherman ,brook1 ,taney ,brook1 ,tomaquag ,brook1 ,white ,brook1 and ,wyassup ,brook within the ,wood-,pawcatuck watershed2 and 7ii7 any other perennial stream within the ,wood-,pawcatuck watershed4 7,b7 ,river segment ,the term river segment means a river segment designated by paragraph 7#bad7 of section #c7;a7 of the ,wild and ,scenic ,rivers ,act 7#af ,u4,s4,c4 #abgd7;a77 7as added by subsection 7a774 7,c7 ,secretary ,the term ,secretary means the ,secretary of the ,interior4 7,d7 ,stewardship ,plan ,the term ,stewardship ,plan means the plan entitled the ,wood-,pawcatuck ,wild and ,scenic ,rivers ,stewardship ,plan for the ,beaver1 ,chipuxet1 ,green ,fall-,ashaway1 ,pawcatuck1 ,queen-,usquepaugh1 ,shunock1 and ,wood ,rivers and dated ,june #bjah1 which takes a watershed approach to the management of the river segments4 7#b7 ,wood-pawcatuck wild and scenic rivers stewardship plan 7,a7 ,in general ,the ,secretary1 in cooperation with the ,wood-,pawcatuck ,wild and ,scenic ,rivers ,stewardship ,council1 shall manage the river segments in accordance with-- 7i7 the ,stewardship ,plan2 and 7ii7 any amendment to the ,stewardship ,plan that the ,secretary determines is consistent with this subsection4 7,b7 ,watershed approach ,in furtherance of the watershed approach to resource preservation and enhancement described in the ,stewardship ,plan1 the covered tributaries are recognized as integral to the protection and enhancement of the river segments4 7,c7 ,requirements for comprehensive management plan ,the ,stewardship ,plan shall be considered to satisfy each requirement for a comprehensive management plan required under section #c7;d7 of the ,wild and ,scenic ,rivers ,act 7#af ,u4,s4,c4 #abgd7;d774 7#c7 ,cooperative agreements ,to provide for the long-term protection1 preservation1 and enhancement of each river segment1 in accordance with sections #aj7;e7 and #aa7;b77#a7 of the ,wild and ,scenic ,rivers ,act 7#af ,u4,s4,c4 #abha7;e71 #abhb7;b77#a771 the ,secretary may enter into cooperative agreements 7which may include provisions for financial or other assistance from the ,federal ,government7 with-- 7,a7 the ,states of ,connecticut and ,rhode ,island2 7,b7 political subdivisions of the ,states of ,connecticut and ,rhode ,island1 including-- 7i7 the towns of ,north ,stonington1 ,sterling1 ,stonington1 and ,voluntown1 ,connecticut2 and 7ii7 the towns of ,charlestown1 ,exeter1 ,hopkinton1 ,north ,kingstown1 ,richmond1 ,south ,kingstown1 ,westerly1 and ,west ,kingstown1 ,rhode ,island2 7,c7 the ,wood-,pawcatuck ,wild and ,scenic ,rivers ,stewardship ,council2 and 7,d7 any appropriate nonprofit organization1 as determined by the ,secretary4 7#d7 ,relation to national park system ,notwithstanding section #aj7;c7 of the ,wild and ,scenic ,rivers ,act 7#af ,u4,s4,c4 #abha7;c771 each river segment shall not be-- 7,a7 administered as a unit of the ,national ,park ,system2 or 7,b7 subject to the laws 7including regulations7 that govern the administration of the ,national ,park ,system4 7#e7 ,land management 7,a7 ,zoning ordinances ,the zoning ordinances adopted by the towns of ,north ,stonington1 ,sterling1 ,stonington1 and ,voluntown1 ,connecticut1 and ,charlestown1 ,exeter1 ,hopkinton1 ,north ,kingstown1 ,richmond1 ,south ,kingstown1 ,westerly1 and ,west ,greenwich1 ,rhode ,island 7including any provision of the zoning ordinances relating to the conservation of floodplains1 wetlands1 and watercourses associated with any river segment71 shall be considered to satisfy the standards and requirements described in section #f7;c7 of the ,wild and ,scenic ,rivers ,act 7#af ,u4,s4,c4 #abgg7;c774 7,b7 ,villages ,for purposes of section #f7;c7 of the ,wild and ,scenic ,rivers ,act 7#af ,u4,s4,c4 #abgg7;c771 each town described in subparagraph 7,a7 shall be considered to be a village4 7,c7 ,acquisition of land 7i7 ,limitation of authority of ,secretary ,with respect to each river segment1 the ,secretary may only acquire parcels of land-- 7,i7 by donation2 or 7,,ii7 with the consent of the owner of the parcel of land4 7ii7 ,prohibition relating to the acquisition of land by condemnation ,in accordance with #f7;c7 of the ,wild and ,scenic ,rivers ,act 7#af ,u4,s4,c4 #abgg7;c771 with respect to each river segment1 the ,secretary may not acquire any parcel of land by condemnation4
