 referred to the ,committee on the      
,judiciary  ,a ,,bill  ,to facilitate   
the expedited review of ,,covid-#ai hate
 crimes1 and for other purposes4  #a4   
,short title ,this ,act may be cited as 
the ,,covid-#ai ,hate ,crimes ,act4  #b4
 ,review of ,,covid-#ai hate crimes  7a7
 ,in general ,not later than #ad days   
after the date of the enactment of this 
,act1 the ,attorney ,general shall      
designate an officer or employee of the 

,department of ,justice whose sole      
responsibility during the applicable    
period shall be to facilitate the       
expedited review of ,,covid-#ai hate    
crimes and reports of any such crime to 
,federal1 ,state1 or local law          
enforcement agencies4  7b7 ,report ,on  
the date that is #cj days after the     
designation under subsection 7a71 and   
every #cj days thereafter1 the officer  
or employee shall submit to ,congress a 
report on the status of each case       
reviewed under subsection 7a71          
including-- 7#a7 any resources provided 
to complainants2  7#b7 any actions taken
 to further the investigation of the    
incidents2 and  7#c7 data disaggregated 
by race1 ethnicity1 socioeconomic       
background1 of the victim and location  
of occurrence4  7c7 ,definitions ,in    
this section3 7#a7 ,the term applicable 
period means the period beginning on the
 date on which the officer or employee  
is designated under subsection 7a71 and 
ending on the date that is one year     

after the date on which the emergency   
period described in subparagraph 7,b7 of
 section #aace7;g77#a7 of the ,social   
,security ,act 7#db ,u4,s4,c4           
#acbj;b-#e7;g77#a77 ends1 except that   
the ,attorney ,general may extend such  
period as appropriate4  7#b7 ,the term  
,,covid-#ai hate crime means a crime of 
violence 7as such term is defined under 
title #ah1 ,united ,states ,code7 that  
is motivated by-- 7,a7 the actual or    
perceived race1 color1 religion1        
national origin1 sexual orientation1    
gender1 gender identity1 or disability  
of any person2 and  7,b7 the actual or  
perceived relationship to the spread of 
,,covid-#ai of any person because of the
 characteristic described in            
subparagraph 7,a74
