more victims of domestic violence by    
preventing their abusers from possessing
 or receiving firearms1 and for other   
purposes4  #a4 ,short title ,this ,act  
may be cited as the ,protecting         
,domestic ,violence and ,stalking       
,victims ,act4  #b4 ,definitions of     
intimate partner and misdemeanor crime  
of domestic violence expanded ,section  
#iba7;a7 of title #ah1 ,united ,states  
,code1 is amended--  7#a7 in paragraph  
7#cb7-- 7,a7 by striking and an         
individual and inserting an individual2 
and  7,b7 by inserting 1 or a dating    
partner 7as defined in section #bbff7   

before the period at the end2 and  7#b7 
in paragraph 7#cc77;,a7--  7,a7 by      
striking ,except as provided in         
subparagraph 7,c71 the and inserting    
,the2  7,b7 in clause 7i71 by inserting 
municipal1 after ,state12 and  7,c7 in  
clause 7ii7-- 7i7 by striking or by and 
inserting by2 and  7ii7 by inserting 1  
or by a dating partner 7as defined in   
section #bbff7 of the victim before the 
period at the end4  #c4 ,expansion of   
list of persons subject to a restraining
 or similar order to whom a firearm is  
prohibited from being sold or disposed

7#a7 in the matter preceding            
subparagraph 7,a71 by striking that2    
7#b7 by striking subparagraphs 7,a7 and 
7,b7 and inserting the following3  7,a7 
7i7 that was issued after a hearing of  
which such person received actual       
notice1 and at which such person had an 
opportunity to participate2 or  7ii7 in 
the case of an ex parte order1 relating 

to which notice and opportunity to be   
heard are provided--  7,i7 within the   
time required by ,state1 tribal1 or     
territorial law2 and  7,,ii7 in any     
event within a reasonable time after the
 order is issued1 sufficient to protect 
the person's right to due process2  7,b7
 that restrains such person from-- 7i7  
harassing1 stalking1 threatening1 or    
engaging in other conduct that would put
 an individual in reasonable fear of    
bodily injury to such individual1       
including an order that was issued at   
the request of an employer on behalf of 
its employee or at the request of an    
institution of higher education on      
behalf of its student2 or  7ii7         
intimidating or dissuading a witness    
from testifying in court2 and  2 and    
7#c7 in subparagraph 7,c7--  7,a7 by    
striking intimate partner or child each 
place it appears and inserting          
individual described in subparagraph    
7,b72  7,b7 in clause 7i71 by inserting 
that before includes2 and  7,c7 in

end of paragraph 7#h72  7#b7 by striking
 the period at the end of paragraph 7#i7

 and inserting 2 or2 and  7#c7 by       
inserting after paragraph 7#i7 the      
following3  7#aj7 has been convicted in 
any court of--  7,a7 a misdemeanor crime
 of stalking under ,federal1 ,state1    
municipal1 territorial1 or tribal law2  
or  7,b7 a crime that involves conduct  
which would be prohibited by section    
#bbfa;,a if committed within the special
 maritime and territorial jurisdiction  
of the ,united ,states4  4  7b7         
,possession1 etc41 of firearms or       
ammunition ,section #ibb7;g7 of such    
title1 as amended by section #d of this 
,act1 is amended-- 7#a7 by striking or  
at the end of paragraph 7#h72  7#b7 by  
striking the comma at the end of        
paragraph 7#i7 and inserting 2 or2 and  
7#c7 by inserting after paragraph 7#i7  
the following3  7#aj7 has been convicted
 in any court of-- 7,a7 a misdemeanor   
crime of stalking under ,federal1       
,state1 municipal1 territorial1 or      
tribal law2 or  7,b7 a crime that       
involves conduct which would be
