may be cited as the ,fry ,scholarship   
,improvement ,act of #bjai4  #b4        
,expansion of eligibility for ,fry      
,scholarship to children and spouses of 
certain deceased members of the ,armed  
,forces  7a7 ,in general ,subsection 7b7
 of section #ccaa of title #ch1 ,united 
,states ,code1 is amended--  7#a7 by    
redesignating paragraph 7#aj7 as        
paragraph 7#ab72 and  7#b7 by inserting 
after paragraph 7#i7 the following new  

paragraphs 7#aj7 and 7#aa73  7#aj7 ,an  
individual who is the child or spouse of
 a person who1 on or after ,september   
#aa1 #bjja1 dies in line of duty while  
serving on duty other than active duty  
as a member of the ,armed ,forces4      
7#aa7 ,an individual who is the child or
 spouse of a member of the ,selected    
,reserve who dies on or after ,september
 #aa1 #bjja--  7,a7 from a              
service-connected disability2 and  7,b7 
not later than four years after the date
 of the last discharge or release of    
that member from active duty or active  
duty for training4  4  7b7              
,applicability date ,the amendments made
 by subsection 7a7 apply with respect to
 a quarter1 semester1 or term1 as       
applicable1 commencing on or after      
,august #a1 #bjbj4  7c7 ,conforming     
amendments  7#a7 ,subsection 7f7 of such
 section is amended by striking         
paragraph 7#i7 each place it appears and
 inserting paragraphs 7#i71 7#aj71 and  
7#aa74  7#b7 ,section #ccbb of such     

title is amended-- 7,a7 in subsection   
7e71 by striking both sections          
#ccaa7;b77#i7 and #ccai and inserting   
section #ccai and paragraph 7#i71 7#aj71
 or 7#aa7 of section #ccaa of this      
title2  7,b7 in subsection 7f71 by      
striking section #ccaa7;b77#i7 and      
inserting paragraph 7#i71 7#aj71 or     
7#aa7 of section #ccaa of this title2
