provide compensation and credit for     
retired pay purposes for maternity leave
 taken by members of the reserve        
components1 and for other purposes4  #a4
 ,short title  ,this ,act may be cited  
as the ,mothers of ,military ,service   
,leave ,act or ,,moms ,leave ,act4  #b4 
,compensation and credit for retired pay
 purposes for maternity leave taken by  
members of the reserve components  7a7  
,compensation ,section #bjf7;a7 of title
 #cg1 ,united ,states ,code1 is         
amended-- 7#a7 in paragraph 7#b71 by    
striking or at the end2  7#b7 in        
paragraph 7#c71 by striking the period  

at the end and inserting 2 or2 and  7#c7
 by adding the end the following new    
paragraph3  7#d7 for each of #f days in 
connection with the taking by the member
 of a period of maternity leave4  4  7b7
 ,credit for retired pay purposes  7#a7 
,in general ,the period of maternity    
leave taken by a member of the reserve  
components of the ,armed ,forces in     
connection with the birth of a child    
shall count toward the member's         
entitlement to retired pay1 and in      
connection with the years of service    
used in computing retired pay1 under    
chapter #abbc of title #aj1 ,united     
,states ,code1 as #ab points4  7#b7     
,separate credit for each period of     
leave ,separate crediting of points     
shall accrue to a member pursuant to    
this subsection for each period of      
maternity leave taken by the member in  
connection with a childbirth event4     
7#c7 ,when credited ,points credited a  
member for a period of maternity leave  
pursuant to this subsection shall be    

credited in the year in which the period
 of maternity leave concerned commences4
  7#d7 ,contribution of leave toward    
entitlement to retired pay ,section     
#abgcb7;a77#b7 of title #aj1 ,united    
,states ,code1 is amended by inserting  
after subparagraph 7,e7 the following   
new subparagraph3  7,f7 ,points at the  
rate of #ab a year for the taking of    
maternity leave4  4  7#e7 ,computation  
of years of service for retired pay     
,section #abgcc of such title is        
amended-- 7,a7 by redesignating         
paragraph 7#e7 as paragraph 7#f72 and   
7,b7 by inserting after paragraph 7#d7  
the following new paragraph 7#e73  7#e7 
,one day for each point credited to the 
person under subparagraph 7,f7 of       
section #abgcb7;a77#b7 of this title4  4
  7c7 ,effective date ,this section and 
the amendments made by this section     
shall take effect on the date of the    
enactment of this ,act1 and shall apply 
with respect to periods of maternity    
leave that commence on or after that    

date4
