,prohibition on employment of family    
members of a candidate or ,federal      
office holder by certain political

 of the ,federal ,election ,campaign    
,act of #aiga 7#b ,u4,s4,c4 #dca et     
seq47 is amended by inserting after     
section #cbd the following new section3 
#cbe4 ,prohibition on employment of     
family members of a candidate or        
,federal office holder by certain       
political committees  7a7 ,in general   

,it shall be unlawful for any authorized
 committee of a candidate or any other  
political committee established1        
maintained1 or controlled by a candidate
 or a person who holds a ,federal office
 to employ--  7#a7 the spouse of such   
candidate or ,federal office holder2 or 
7#b7 any immediate family member of such
 candidate or ,federal office holder4   
7b7 ,immediate family member ,for       
purposes of subsection 7a71 the term    
immediate family member means a son1    
daughter1 stepson1 stepdaughter1        
son-in-law1 daughter-in-law1 mother1    
father1 stepmother1 stepfather1         
mother-in-law1 father-in-law1 brother1  
sister1 stepbrother1 or stepsister of   
the ,member4  4  7b7 ,effective date    
,the amendment made by this section     
shall take effect on the date of the    
enactment of this ,act4  #b4 ,spouse    
lobbying member ,section #bjg7;e7 of    
title #ah1 ,united ,states ,code1 is    
amended by adding at the end the        
following3  7#aj7 ,spouses ,any person  

who is the spouse of a ,member of       
,congress and who was not serving as a  
registered lobbyist at least #a year    
prior to the election of that ,member of
 ,congress to office and who1 after the 
election of such ,member1 knowingly     
lobbies on behalf of a client for       
compensation any ,member of ,congress or
 is associated with any such lobbying   
activity by an employer of that spouse  
shall be punished as provided in section
 #baf of this title4  4
