reimbursement rate for members of the   
armed services during permanent change  
of station and to authorize the         
transportation of additional motor      
vehicles of members on change of        
permanent station to or from nonforeign 
areas outside the continental ,united   
,states4  #a4 ,short title ,this ,act   
may be cited as the ,service ,members   
,permanent ,change of ,station ,relief  
,act4  #b4 ,mileage reimbursement rate  
for members of the uniformed services   
for travel related to change of         
permanent station ,section              
#dgd7;d77#a77;,a7 of title #cg1 ,united 
,states ,code1 is amended by striking   
monetary allowance and all that follows 

through the period at the end and       
inserting the following3 8monetary      
allowance in place of the cost of       
transportation--  7i7 in the case of a  
member for whom travel has been         
authorized in connection with a change  
of permanent station or for travel      
described in paragraph 7#b7 or 7#c7 of  
subsection 7a71 at the business standard
 mileage rate set by the ,internal      
,revenue ,service pursuant to section   
#a4bgd4e7;j77#b7 of title #bf1 ,code of 
,federal ,regulations2 and  7ii7 in the 
case of a member's dependent for whom   
such travel has been authorized1 at the 
rate provided in section #egjd of title 
#e4  4  #c4 ,transportation of          
additional motor vehicle of members on  
change of permanent station to or from  
nonforeign areas outside the continental
 ,united ,states  7a7 ,authority ,to    
transport additional motor vehicle      
,subsection 7a7 of section #bfcd of     
title #aj1 ,united ,states ,code1 is    
amended--  7#a7 by striking the sentence

 following paragraph 7#d72  7#b7 by     
redesignating paragraphs 7#a71 7#b71    
7#c71 and 7#d7 as subparagraphs 7,a71   
7,b71 7,c71 and 7,d71 respectively2     
7#c7 by inserting 7#a7 after 7a72 and   
7#d7 by adding at the end the following 
new paragraph3  7#b7 ,one additional    
motor vehicle of a member 7or a         
dependent of the member7 may be         
transported as provided in paragraph    
7#a7 if--  7,a7 the member is ordered to
 make a change of permanent station to  
or from a nonforeign area outside the   
continental ,united ,states and the     
member has at least one dependent of    
driving age who will use the motor      
vehicle2 or  7,b7 the ,secretary        
concerned determines that a replacement 
for the motor vehicle transported under 
paragraph 7#a7 is necessary for reasons 
beyond the control of the member and is 
in the interest of the ,united ,states  
and the ,secretary approves the         
transportation in advance4  4  7b7      
,technical and conforming amendments    

,such subsection is further amended--   
7#a7 by striking his dependents and     
inserting a dependent of the member2    
7#b7 by striking him and inserting the  
member2  7#c7 by striking his7 and      
inserting the member72  7#d7 by striking
 his new and inserting the member's new2
 and  7#e7 in paragraph 7#a77;,c71 as   
redesignated by subsection 7a7--  7,a7  
by striking clauses 7#a7 and 7#b7 and   
inserting subparagraphs 7,a7 and 7,b72  
and  7,b7 by inserting or after the     
semicolon4  #d4 ,effective date ,the    
amendments made by this ,act shall take 
effect on ,january #a1 #bjad1 and apply 
with respect to a permanent change of   
station order issued on or after that   
date to a member of the uniformed       
services4
