is amended by adding at the end the     
following3  7#df7 ,western ,states      
,trail  7,a7 ,in general ,the ,western  
,states ,trail1 a trail of approximately
 #ajj miles from ,squaw ,valley to      

,auburn1 ,california 7including the     
,tevis ,cup ,loop7--  7i7 as displayed  
on the maps maintained in the office of 
the ,american ,river ,district ,ranger1 
,tahoe ,national ,forest2  7ii7 as      
described in the journal of ,professor  
,william ,brewer for ,august #cj1 #ahfc2
 and  7iii7 along which are conducted-- 
7,i7 the ,western ,states ,trail ,ride2 
and  7,,ii7 the ,western ,states        
,endurance ,run4  7,b7 ,components ,the 
study under this paragraph shall include
 a determination on whether the trail is
 appropriate for designation as a       
national historic trail4  4
