 for tuition and fees for individuals   
entitled to educational assistance under
 the ,post-#i_/aa ,educational          
,assistance ,program of the ,department 
of ,veterans ,affairs who are pursuing  
programs of education at institutions of
 higher learning1 and for other         
purposes4  #a4 ,short title ,this ,act  
may be cited as the ,veterans ,education
 ,equity ,act of #bjac4  #b4 ,protecting
 equity for tuition and fees for        
individuals entitled to assistance under
 the ,post-#i_/aa ,educational          
,assistance ,program who are pursuing   
programs of education at institutions of
 higher learning  7a7 ,in general       
,clause 7i7 of subparagraph 7,a7 of     

paragraph 7#a7 of subsection 7c7 of     
section #ccac of title #ch1 ,united     
,states ,code1 is amended to read as    
follows3  7i7 ,in the case of a program 
of education pursued at a public        
institution of higher learning1 the     
lesser of--  7,i7 the actual net cost   
for tuition and fees assessed by the    
institution for the program of education
 after the application of--  7aa7 any   
waiver of1 or reduction in1 tuition and 
fees2 and  7bb7 any scholarship1 or     
other ,federal1 ,state1 institutional1  
or employer-based aid or assistance     
7other than loans and any funds provided
 under section #dja7;b7 of the ,higher  
,education ,act of #aife 7#bj ,u4,s4,c4 
#ajgj;a77 that is provided directly to  
the institution and specifically        
designated for the sole purpose of      
defraying tuition and fees2 or  7,,ii7  
the greater of--  7aa7 the actual net   
cost for in-,state tuition and fees     
assessed by the institution for the     
program of education after the          

application of-- 7,,aa7 any waiver of1  
or reduction in1 tuition and fees2 and  
7,,bb7 any scholarship1 or other        
,federal1 ,state1 institutional1 or     
employer-based aid or assistance 7other 
than loans and any funds provided under 
section #dja7;b7 of the ,higher         
,education ,act of #aife 7#bj ,u4,s4,c4 
#ajgj;a77 that is provided directly to  
the institution and specifically        
designated for the sole purpose of      
defraying tuition and fees2 or  7bb7 the
 amount equal to-- 7,,aa7 for the       
academic year beginning on ,august #a1  
#bjaa1 #ag1ejj2 or 7,,bb7 for any       
subsequent academic year1 the amount in 
effect for the previous academic year   
under this subclause1 as increased by   
the percentage increase equal to the    
most recent percentage increase         
determined under section #cjae7;h7 of   
this title4  4  7b7 ,effective date ,the
 amendment made by subsection 7a7 shall 
apply with respect to the payment of    
educational assistance for an academic  

year beginning on or after the date of  
the enactment of this ,act4
