data under the ,medicare program1 and

,this ,act may be cited as the ,consumer
 ,learning through                      
,electronically-,accessible and         
,reasonable ,cost ,information ,act of  
#bjac or the ,,clear ,cost ,information 
,act of #bjac4  #b4 ,reporting of       
certain hospital payment data  7a7 ,in  
general ,section #ahff of the ,social   
,security ,act 7#db ,u4,s4,c4 #acie;cc7 
is amended-- 7#a7 in subsection         
7a77#a7-- 7,a7 in subparagraph 7,v71 by 
striking and at the end2  7,b7 in       
subparagraph 7,w71 as added by section  

#cjje of ,public ,law #aaa-adh-- 7i7 by 
moving such subparagraph #b ems to the  
left2 and  7ii7 by striking the period  
at the end and inserting a comma2  7,c7 
in subparagraph 7,w71 as added by       
section #fdjf7;b7 of ,public ,law       
#aaa-adh-- 7i7 by moving such           
subparagraph #b ems to the left2  7ii7  
by redesignating such subparagraph as   
subparagraph 7,x72 and  7iii7 by        
striking the period at the end and      
inserting 1 and2 and  7,d7 by inserting 
after subparagraph 7,x71 as redesignated
 by subparagraph 7,c77ii71 the following
 new subparagraph3  7,y7 in the case of 
a subsection 7d7 hospital 7as defined in
 section #ahhf7;d77#a77;,b771 to report 
payment data to the ,secretary in       
accordance subsection 7l74  2 and  7#b7 
by adding at the end the following new  
subsection3  7l7 ,reporting of certain  
hospital payment data  7#a7 ,in general 
,a subsection 7d7 hospital 7as defined  
in section #ahhf7;d77#a77;,b77 shall    
submit to the ,secretary data on the    

actual amounts collected by the hospital
 from uninsured and insured patients    
over the preceding #b years for each of 
the procedures described in paragraph   
7#b74  7#b7 ,procedures described ,the  
procedures described in this paragraph  
are the #ej most common                 
diagnosis-related groups and ambulatory 
payment classification groups for which 
payment is made under this title1 as    
determined by the ,secretary based on   
claims data1 in both the inpatient and  
outpatient settings4  7#c7 ,transparency
  7,a7 ,in general ,in order to be      
beneficial to consumers1 the reporting  
of data under this subsection shall be  
done in a manner that is transparent to 
the general public4  7,b7 ,public       
availability of information ,the        
,secretary shall post data submitted    
under paragraph 7#a7 on a publicly      
accessible and searchable ,internet     
website in a form and manner that-- 7i7 
allows for meaningful comparisons of    
hospital collections and related        

policies by zip code2 and  7ii7 is      
readily understandable by a typical     
consumer4  7,c7 ,linking of data ,a     
subsection 7d7 hospital shall include a 
link to the data posted under           
subparagraph 7,b7 on the home ,internet 
website of the hospital4  4  7b7        
,effective date ,the amendments made by 
this section shall apply to contracts   
entered into1 or renewed1 on or after   
the date of the enactment of this ,act4 
#c4 ,inclusion of information on charity
 care furnished by hospitals in         
,med,p,a,c's annual report ,each annual 
report submitted to ,congress after the 
date of the enactment of this ,act by   
the ,medicare ,payment ,advisory        
,commission under section #ahje of the  
,social ,security ,act 7#db ,u4,s4,c4   
#acie;b-#f7 shall contain information on
 the percentage that charity care makes 
up of the total care furnished by       
hospitals and critical access hospitals4
  #d4 ,public availability of report on 
trends in levels of charity care        

provided by certain hospitals  7a7      
,posting of data ,section #ijjg7;e77#b7 
of the ,patient ,protection and         
,affordable ,care ,act 7,public ,law    
#aaa-adh2 #abd ,stat4 #heh7 is amended  
by adding at the end the following new  
subparagraph3  7,c7 ,public availability
 ,the ,secretary of the ,treasury1 in   
consultation with the ,secretary of     
,health and ,human ,services1 shall post
 the data contained in the report under 
subparagraph 7,b7 on a publicly         
accessible and searchable website that--
 7i7 allows for meaningful comparisons  
of the data by zip code2 and  7ii7 is   
readily understandable by a typical     
consumer4  4  7b7 ,medicare requirement 
for hospitals ,to provide a link to the 
data on the hospital's home webpage     
7#a7 ,in general ,section #ahff7;a77#a7 
of the ,social ,security ,act 7#db      
,u4,s4,c4 #acie;cc7a77#a771 as amended  
by section #b1 is amended-- 7,a7 in     
subparagraph 7,x71 by striking and at   
the end2  7,b7 in subparagraph 7,y71 by 

striking the period at the end and      
inserting 1 and2 and  7,c7 by inserting 
after subparagraph 7,y7 the following   
new subparagraph3  7,z7 in the case of  
hospitals and critical access hospitals1
 to include a link on the home ,internet
 website of the hospital or critical    
access hospital to the data posted under
 section #ijjg7;e77#b77;,c7 of the      
,patient ,protection and ,affordable    
,care ,act4  4  7#b7 ,effective date
