,short title ,this ,act may be cited as 
the ,expedited ,,lng for ,american      
,allies ,act of #bjac4  #b4 ,expedited  
approval of exportation of natural gas  
to ,united ,states allies ,section      
#c7;c7 of the ,natural ,gas ,act 7#ae   
,u4,s4,c4 #gag;b7c77 is amended--  7#a7 
by inserting 7#a7 before ,for purposes2 
7#b7 by striking nation with which there
 is in effect a free trade agreement    
requiring national treatment for trade  

in natural gas and inserting foreign    
country described in paragraph 7#b72 and
  7#c7 by adding at the end the         
following3  7#b7 ,a foreign country     
described in this paragraph is--  7,a7 a
 nation with which there is in effect a 
free trade agreement requiring national 
treatment for trade in natural gas2     
7,b7 a member country of the ,north     
,atlantic ,treaty ,organization2  7,c7  
subject to paragraph 7#c71 ,japan2 and  
7,d7 any other foreign country if the   
,secretary of ,state1 in consultation   
with the ,secretary of ,defense1        
determines that exportation of natural  
gas to that foreign country would       
promote the national security interests 
of the ,united ,states4  7#c7 ,the      
exportation of natural gas to ,japan    
shall be deemed to be consistent with   
the public interest pursuant to         
paragraph 7#a71 and applications for    
such exportation shall be granted       
without modification or delay under that
 paragraph1 during only such period as  

the ,treaty of ,mutual ,cooperation and 
,security1 signed at ,washington        
,january #ai1 #aifj1 and entered into   
force ,june #bc1 #aifj 7#aa ,,ust #afcb2
 ,,tias #deji71 between the ,united     
,states and ,japan1 remains in effect4  
4  #c4 ,effective date ,the amendments  
made by section #b shall apply with     
respect to applications for the         
authorization to export natural gas     
under section #c of the ,natural ,gas   
,act 7#ae ,u4,s4,c4 #gag;b7 that are    
pending on1 or filed on or after1 the   
date of the enactment of this ,act4
