income certain combat zone compensation 
of civilian employees of the ,united    
,states4  #a4 ,short title ,this ,act   
may be cited as the ,federal ,employee  
,combat ,zone ,tax ,parity ,act4  #b4   
,exclusion from gross income for certain
 combat zone compensation of civilian   
employees of the ,united ,states  7a7   
,in general ,section #aab of the        
,internal ,revenue ,code of #aihf       
7relating to certain combat zone        
compensation of members of the ,armed   
,forces7 is amended by redesignating    
subsections 7c7 and 7d7 as subsections  
7d7 and 7e71 respectively1 and by       
inserting after subsection 7b7 the      

following new subsection3  7c7 ,civilian
 employees  7#a7 ,in general ,gross     
income does not include so much of the  
compensation as does not exceed the     
maximum amount specified in subsection  
7b7 for active service as an employee of
 the ,united ,states for any month      
during any part of which such employee--
  7,a7 served in a combat zone1 or  7,b7
 was hospitalized as a result of wounds1
 disease1 or injury incurred while      
serving in a combat zone1  but this     
paragraph shall not apply for any month 
beginning more than #b years after the  
date of the termination of combatant    
activities in such zone4  7#b7          
,definitions ,for purposes of this      
subsection--  7,a7 ,employee ,the term  
employee has the meaning given such term
 by section #baje of title #e1 ,united  
,states ,code4  7,b7 ,active service    
,the term active service means active   
,federal service by an employee4  4  7b7
 ,conforming amendments  7#a7 ,section  
#bbja7;b7 of such ,code is amended by   

striking #aab7;c7 both places it appears
 and inserting #aab7;d74  7#b7 ,the     
heading for section #aab of such ,code  
is amended to read as follows3  #aab4   
,certain combat zone compensation of    
members of the ,armed ,forces and       
civilian employees of the ,united       
,states  4  7#c7 ,the item relating to  
section #aab in the table of sections   
for part ,,iii of subchapter ,b of      
chapter #a of such ,code is amended to  
read as follows3  ,sec4 #aab4 ,certain  
combat zone compensation of members of  
the ,armed ,forces and civilian         
employees of the ,united ,states4  4    
7c7 ,effective date ,the amendments made
 by this section shall apply to taxable 
years beginning after the date of the   
enactment of this ,act4
