,scripture will be found to have come from the prophet's own prompting2 #jja3jba for never did any prophecy come by human will1 but men sent by ,god spoke as they were impelled by the ,holy ,spirit4 #jjb3jja ,but there were also false prophets among the people1 as there will be teachers of falsehood among you also1 who will cunningly introduce fatal divisions1 disowning even the ,sovereign ,lord who has redeemed them1 and bringing on themselves swift destruction4 #jjb3jjb ,and in their immoral ways they will have many eager disciples1 through whom religion will be brought into disrepute4 #jjb3jjc ,thirsting for riches1 they will trade on you with their canting talk4 ,from of old their judgement has been working itself out1 and their destruction has not been slumbering4 #jjb3jjd ,for ,god did not spare angels when they had sinned1 but hurling them down to ,tartarus consigned them to caves of darkness1 keeping them in readiness for judgement4 #jjb3jje ,and ,he did not spare the ancient world1 although ,he preserved ,noah1 a herald of righteousness1 with seven others1 when ,he brought a deluge on the world of the ungodly4 #jjb3jjf ,he reduced to ashes the cities of ,sodom and ,gomorrah1 and condemned them to overthrow1 making them an example to people who might in future be living godless lives4 #jjb3jjg ,but when righteous ,lot was sore distressed by the gross misconduct of immoral men ,he rescued him4 #jjb3jjh 7,for their lawless deeds were torture1 day after day1 to the pure soul of that righteous man--all that he saw and heard whilst living in their midst47 #jjb3jji ,since all this is so1 the ,lord knows how to rescue godly men from temptation1 and on the other hand how to keep the unrighteous under punishment in readiness for the ,day of ,judgement1 #jjb3jaj and especially those who are abandoned to sensuality-- craving1 as they do1 for polluted things1 and scorning control4 ,fool-hardy and self-willed1 they do not tremble when speaking evil of glorious beings2 #jjb3jaa while angels1 though greater than they in might and power1 do not bring any insulting accusation against such in the presence of the ,lord4 #jjb3jab ,but these men1 like brute beasts1 created 7with their natural instincts7 only to be captured or destroyed1 are abusive in matters of which they are ignorant1 and in their corruption will perish1 #jjb3jac being doomed to receive a requital for their guilt4 ,they reckon it pleasure to feast daintily in broad daylight4 ,they are spots and blemishes1 while feeding luxuriously at their love-feasts1 and banqueting with you4 #jjb3jad ,their very eyes are full of adultery--being eyes which never cease from sin4 ,these men set traps to catch unstedfast souls1 their own hearts being well trained in greed4 ,they are fore-doomed to ,god's curse6 #jjb3jae ,forsaking the straight road1 they have gone astray1 having eagerly followed in the steps of ,balaam1 the son of ,beor1 who was bent on securing the wages of unrighteousness4 #jjb3jaf ,but he was rebuked for his transgression3 a dumb ass spoke with a human voice and checked the madness of the ,prophet4 #jjb3jag ,these people are wells without water1 mists driven along by a storm1 men for whom the dense darkness has been reserved4 #jjb3jah ,for1 while they pour out their frivolous and arrogant talk1 they use earthly cravings--every kind of immorality-- as a bait to entrap men who are just escaping from the influence of those who live in error4 #jjb3jai ,and they promise them freedom1 although they are themselves the slaves of what is corrupt4 ,for a man is the slave of any one by whom he has been worsted in fight4 #jjb3jbj ,for if1 after escaping from the pollutions of the world through a full knowledge of our ,lord and ,saviour ,jesus ,christ1 people are once more entangled in these pollutions and are overcome1 their last state has become worse than their first4 #jjb3jba ,for it would have been better for them not to have fully known the way of righteousness1 than1 after knowing it1 to turn back from the holy commandments in which they were instructed4 #jjb3jbb ,their case is that described in the true proverb1 ,a dog returns to what he has vomited1 and also in the other proverb1 ,the sow has washed itself and now goes back to roll in its filth4 #jjc3jja ,this letter which ,i am now writing to you1 dear friends1 is my second letter4 ,in both my letters ,i seek to revive in your honest minds the memory of certain things1 #jjc3jjb so that you may recall the words spoken long ago by the holy ,prophets1 and the commandments of our ,lord and ,saviour given you through your ,apostles4 #jjc3jjc ,but1 above all1 remember that1 in the last days1 men will come who make a mock at everything--men governed only by their own passions1 #jjc3jjd and1 asking1 ,what has become of ,his promised ,return8 ,for from the time our forefathers fell asleep all things continue as they have been ever since the creation of the world4 #jjc3jje ,for they are wilfully blind to the fact that there were heavens which existed of old1 and an earth1 the latter arising out of water and extending continuously through water1 by the command of ,god2 #jjc3jjf and that1 by means of these1 the then existing race of men was overwhelmed with water and perished4 #jjc3jjg ,but the present heavens and the present earth are1 by the command of the same ,god1 kept stored up1 reserved for fire in preparation for a day of judgement and of destruction for the ungodly4 #jjc3jjh ,but there is one thing1 dear friends1 which you must not forget4 ,with the ,lord one day resembles a thousand years and a thousand years resemble one day4 #jjc3jji ,the ,lord is not slow in fulfilling ,his promise1 in the sense in which some men speak of slowness4 ,but ,he bears patiently with you1 ,his desire being that no one should perish but that all should come to repentance4 #jjc3jaj ,the day of the ,lord will come like a thief--it will be a day on which the heavens will pass away with a rushing noise1 the elements be destroyed in the fierce heat1 and the earth and all the works of man be utterly burnt up4 #jjc3jaa ,since all these things are thus pre-destined to dissolution1 what sort of men ought you to be found to be in all holy living and godly conduct1 #jjc3jab eagerly looking forward to the coming of the day of ,god1 by reason of which the heavens1 all ablaze1 will be destroyed1 and the elements will melt in the fierce heat8 #jjc3jac ,but in accordance with ,his promise we are expecting new heavens and a new earth1 in which righteousness will dwell4 #jjc3jad ,therefore1 dear friends1 since you have these expectations1 earnestly seek to be found in ,his presence1 free from blemish or reproach1 in peace4 #jjc3jae ,and always regard the patient forbearance of our ,lord as salvation1 as our dear brother ,paul also has written to you in virtue of the wisdom granted to him4 #jjc3jaf ,that is what he says in all his letters1 when speaking in them of these things4 ,in those letters there are some statements hard to understand1 which ill-taught and unprincipled people pervert1 just as they do the rest of the ,scriptures1 to their own ruin4 #jjc3jag ,you1 therefore1 dear friends1 having been warned beforehand1 must continually be on your guard so as not to be led astray by the false teaching of immoral men nor fall from your own stedfastness4 #jjc3jah ,but be always growing in the grace and knowledge of our ,lord and ,saviour ,jesus ,christ4 ,to ,him be all glory1 both now and to the day of ,eternity6
