criminal3  yet the word of ,god is not

,i endure all things for the sake of    
,god's own people2         so that they 
also may obtain salvation--even the     
salvation         which is in ,christ   
,jesus--and with it eternal glory4

commend yourself to ,god as a servant   
who1         because of his             
straightforward dealing with the word of
 truth1         has no reason to feel

irreligious and frivolous talk hold     
aloof1 for those         who indulge in 
it will proceed from bad to worse in    
impiety1  #jjb3jag and their teaching   
will spread like a running sore4        
,hymenaeus and ,philetus are men of that
 stamp4  #jjb3jah ,in the matter of the 
truth they have gone astray1 saying that
         the ,resurrection is already   
past1 and so they are overthrowing      
the faith of some4  #jjb3jai ,yet ,god's

 solid foundation stands unmoved1       
bearing this inscription1         ,the  
,lord knows those who really belong to  
,him4         ,and this also1 ,let every
 one who names the ,name of the ,lord   
renounce all wickedness4  #jjb3jbj ,now 
in a great house there are not only     
articles of gold         and silver1 but
 also others of wood and of earthenware2
         and some are for specially     
honourable1 and others for common use4

himself clear of these latter1 he       
himself         will be for specially   
honourable use1 consecrated1 fit for    
the ,master's service1 and fully

,keep a strong curb1 however1 on your   
youthful cravings2         and strive   
for integrity1 good faith1 love1 peace1 
in company         with all who pray to

,but avoid foolish discussions with     
ignorant men1 knowing--as you do--

and a bondservant of the ,lord must not 
quarrel1 but must         be inoffensive
 towards all men1 a skilful teacher1

must speak in a gentle tone when        
correcting the errors         of        
opponents1 in the hope that ,god will at
 last give them repentance1         for 
them to come to a full knowledge of the 
truth  #jjb3jbf and recover             
sober-mindedness and freedom from the   
,devil's snare1         though they are 
now entrapped by him to do his will4    
#jjc3jja ,but of this be assured3  in   
the last days grievous times            
will set in4  #jjc3jjb ,for men will be 
lovers of self1 lovers of money1        
boastful1 haughty1 profane4  ,they will 
be disobedient         to parents1

destitute of natural affection1         
unforgiving1 slanderers4         ,they  
will have no self-control1 but will be  
brutal1         opposed to goodness1

self-important4 ,they will love pleasure
         instead of loving ,god1        
#jjc3jje and will keep up a make-believe
 of piety and yet live in defiance      
of its power4  ,turn away from people of
 this sort4  #jjc3jjf ,among them are   
included the men who make their way into
         private houses and carry off   
weak women as their prisoners--         
women who1 weighed down by the burden of
 their sins1 are led         by         
ever-changing caprice1  #jjc3jjg and are
 always learning something new1 and yet 
are never able         to arrive at real
 knowledge of the truth4  #jjc3jjh ,and 
just as ,jannes and ,jambres withstood  
,moses1 so also these         false     
teachers withstand the truth--being1 as 
they are1         men of debased        
intellects1 and of no real worth so far 
as faith is concerned4  #jjc3jji ,but   
they will have no further success2 for  
their folly will         be as clearly  
manifest to all men1 as that of the     
opponents         of ,moses came to be4 

#jjc3jaj ,but you have intimately known 
my teaching1 life1 aims1 faith1         
patience1 love1 resignation1  #jjc3jaa  
and the persecutions and sufferings     
which ,i have endured2         the      
things which happened to me in ,antioch1
 ,iconium and ,lystra4         ,you know
 the persecutions ,i endured1 and how   
the ,lord delivered         me out of   
them all4  #jjc3jab ,and indeed every   
one who is determined to live a godly   
life         as a follower of ,christ   
,jesus will be persecuted4  #jjc3jac    
,but bad men and impostors will go on   
from bad to worse1         misleading   
and being misled4  #jjc3jad ,but you    
must cling to the things which you have 
learnt and have         been taught to  
believe1 knowing who your teachers were1
  #jjc3jae and that from infancy you    
have known the sacred writings          
which are able to make you wise to      
obtain salvation through         faith  
in ,christ ,jesus4  #jjc3jaf ,every     
,scripture is inspired by ,god and is   

useful for teaching1         for        
convincing1 for correction of error1 and
 for instruction         in right doing2
  #jjc3jag so that the man of ,god may  
himself be complete and may be          
perfectly equipped for every good work4 
#jjd3jja ,i solemnly implore you1 in the
 presence of ,god and of         ,christ
 ,jesus who is about to judge the living
 and the dead1         and by ,his      
,appearing and ,his ,kingship3  #jjd3jjb
 proclaim ,god's message1 be zealous in 
season and out of season2               
convince1 rebuke1 encourage1 with the   
utmost patience         as a teacher4   
#jjd3jjc ,for a time is coming when they
 will not tolerate wholesome            
instruction1 but1 wanting to have their 
ears tickled1 they will         find a  
multitude of teachers to satisfy their  
own fancies2  #jjd3jjd and will turn    
away from listening to the truth and    
will turn         aside to fables4      
#jjd3jje ,but as for you1 you must      
exercise habitual self-control1         

and not live a self-indulgent life1 but 
do the duty of an         evangelist and
 fully discharge the obligations of your

like a drink-offering which is already  
being         poured out2 and the time  
for my departure is now close at hand4

glorious contest2 ,i have run the race2

 for me the crown         of
