 before ,god1 blamelessly obeying       
all the ,lord's precepts and ordinances4

because ,elizabeth was barren2          
and both of them were far advanced in

him ,zechariah1 after his father4

 ,there is not one of your family1 they

 asked his father by signs what he      

wished him to be called4  #jja3jfc ,so  
he asked for a writing-tablet1 and      
wrote1 ,his name is ,john4         ,and

his mouth and his tongue were set free1 
and he began         to speak and bless

 about them were filled with awe1       
and throughout the hill country of      
,judaea reports of all         these

should         not see death until he

maidenhood seven years of married life1

absent from the ,temple1 but worshipped1

supposing ,him to be in the travelling

that every tree which fails to yield

and she at once rose and waited on them4

friends suffering from any illness

there was a man there covered with

they went up on the roof and let him

and ,pharisees began to cavil1 asking1

,what is this that you are debating

that the ,son of ,man has authority on

and drinking         with these         
tax-gatherers and notorious sinners8

,it is not men in good health           
who require a physician1 but the sick4  
#jje3jcb ,i have not come to call the   
righteous to repentance1 but sinners4

,john's disciples fast often and pray1  
as do also those of the pharisees2 but  
yours eat and drink4  #jje3jcd ,can you 
compel the bridal party to fast1 replied
 ,jesus1         so long as they have

,but a time for this will come1 when the
 ,bridegroom has been         taken away

figurative language to them4  ,no one1  
,he said1 tears a piece from a new      
garment to mend an old one4

new1 but the patch         from the new

wine-skins4 ,otherwise         the new  
wine would burst the skins1 the wine    
itself would         be spilt1 and the

wine must be put into fresh wineskins4

drinking old wine wish for new2         
for he says1 ,the old is better4'

,sabbath while ,he was passing through

plucking the ears and         rubbing

to bring an accusation against ,him4

the way their forefathers

 alas for you rich men1 because you

plenty to eat1 because you will be

now1 because you will mourn         and

who is overfond of eating and drinking--
         he is a friend of tax-gatherers

wisdom is justified by all who are truly

,pharisees repeatedly invited ,him to a 
meal at         his house2 so ,he       
entered the house and reclined at the

in the town who was a notorious sinner4 
,having learnt that ,jesus was at table

wiped the tears         away again1     
while she lovingly kissed ,his feet and 
poured         the perfume over them4

women1 all of whom contributed to the   
support         of ,jesus and ,his      
,apostles4  #jjh3jjd ,and when a great  

crowd was assembling1 and was receiving 
additions         from one town after   
another1 ,he spoke a parable to them4

to sow his seed2 and as he sows1        
some of the seed falls by the way-side1 
and is trodden upon1         or the     
birds of the air come and peck it up4

rock1 and after growing up it           
withers away for want of moisture4

thorns1 and the thorns grow up

some of the seed falls into good ground1

return of a hundred for one4  ,while

and said1 ,listen1 every one who has

,the disciples proceeded to ask ,him    
what this parable meant4  #jjh3jaj ,to  
you1 ,he replied1 it is granted to know 
the secrets         of the ,kingdom of  
,god2 but all others are taught by      

parables1         in order that they may
 see and yet not see1 and may hear      
and yet not understand4  #jjh3jaa ,the  
meaning of the parable is as follows4   
,the seed         is ,god's ,message4   
#jjh3jab ,those by the way-side are     
those who have heard1 and then          
the ,devil comes and carries away the   
,message from their hearts1         lest
 they should believe and be saved4      
#jjh3jac ,those on the rock are the     
people who on hearing the ,message      
receive         it joyfully2 but they   
have no root3  for a time they believe1 
but when trial comes they fall away4    
#jjh3jad ,that which fell among the     
thorns means those who have heard1      
but as they go on their way1 the        
,message is stifled by         the      
anxieties1 wealth and gaieties of time1 
and they yield         nothing in       
perfection4  #jjh3jae ,but as for that  
in the good ground1 it means those who1 
having listened to the ,message with    
open minds and in a         right       

spirit1 hold it fast1 and patiently     
yield a return4  #jjh3jaf ,when any one 
lights a lamp1 he does not cover it with
 a         vessel or hide it under a    
couch2 he puts it on a lampstand1       
that people who enter the room may see  
the light4  #jjh3jag ,there is nothing  
hidden1 which shall not be openly seen2 
nor anything secret1 which shall not be 
known and come into         the light of
 day4  #jjh3jah ,be careful1 therefore1 
how you hear2 for whoever has anything1 
to him more shall be given1 and whoever 
has nothing1         even that which he 
thinks he has shall be taken away from  
him4  #jjh3jai ,then came to ,him ,his  
mother and ,his brothers1 but could not 
get         near ,him for the crowd4    
#jjh3jbj ,but ,he was told1 ,your mother
 and brothers are standing on           
the edge of the crowd1 and want to see

hear         ,god's ,message and obey

both to wind and waves1         and they

landing1 ,he was met by one of the      
townsmen who was         possessed by   

demons--for a long time he had not put

on the hill-side2         and the demons
 begged ,him to give them leave to go   
into them1         and ,he gave them

 the man and left him1 and entered      
into the swine2 and the herd rushed     
violently over the cliff         into

,the swineherds1 seeing what had        
happened1 fled and reported         it

whereupon the people came out to see    
what had happened4         ,they came to
 ,jesus1 and they found the man from    
whom the demons         had gone out    
sitting at the feet of ,jesus1 clothed  
and in his         right mind2 and they

 had seen it told them how the demoniac

population of the ,gerasenes and of the 
adjacent         districts begged ,him  
to depart from them2 for their terror   
was great4  ,so ,he went on board and

whom the demons had gone out earnestly  
asked         permission to go with

,return home1 ,he said1 and tell there  
all that ,god has done         for you4 
,so he went and published through the

done for him4  #jjh3jdj ,now when ,jesus
 was returning1 the people gave ,him a  
warm welcome2         for they had all

,just then there came a man named ,jair1
 a ,warden of the ,synagogue1           
who threw himself at the feet of ,jesus1
 and entreated ,him         to come to  
his house2  #jjh3jdb for he had an only 
daughter1 about twelve years old1 and   
she         was dying4  ,and as ,he     
went1 the dense throng crowded on ,him4 
#jjh3jdc ,and a woman who for twelve    
years had been afflicted with           
haemorrhage--         and had spent on  
doctors all she had1 but none of them   
had         been able to cure her--     
#jjh3jdd came close behind ,him and     

touched the tassel of ,his robe2        
and instantly her flow of blood stopped4

,jesus asked4  ,and when all denied     
having done so1 ,peter and the rest     
said1 ,rabbi1 the crowds         are    
hemming you in and pressing on you4

,jesus replied1 for ,i feel that power  
has gone out from me4  #jjh3jdg ,then   
the woman1 perceiving that she had not  
escaped notice1         came trembling1 
and throwing herself down at ,his feet  
she         stated before all the people
 the reason why she had touched         
,him and how she was instantly cured4   
#jjh3jdh ,daughter1 said ,he1 your faith
 has cured you2 go1 and be at peace4    
#jjh3jdi ,while ,he was still speaking1 
some one came to the ,warden of         
the ,synagogue from his house and said1 
,your daughter is dead2         trouble 
the ,rabbi no further4  #jjh3jej ,jesus 
heard the words and said to him1 ,have  
no fear4         ,only believe1 and she 

shall be restored to life4  #jjh3jea ,so
 ,he came to the house1 but allowed no  
one to go in with ,him         but      
,peter and ,john and ,james and the     
girl's father and mother4  #jjh3jeb ,the
 people were all weeping aloud and      
beating their breasts for her2          
but ,he said1 ,leave off wailing2 for   
she is not dead1 but asleep4  #jjh3jec  
,and they jeered at ,him1 knowing that  
she was dead4  #jjh3jed ,he1 however1   
took her by the hand and called aloud1  
,child1 awake6  #jjh3jee ,and her spirit
 returned1 and instantly she stood up2  
and ,he directed them to give her some  
food4  #jjh3jef ,her parents were       
astounded2 but ,he forbad them to       
mention         the matter to any one4  
#jji3jja ,then calling the ,twelve      
together ,he conferred on them power    
and authority over all the demons and to
 cure diseases2  #jji3jjb and sent them 
out to proclaim the ,kingdom of ,god and
 to         cure the sick4  #jji3jjc    
,and ,he commanded them1 ,take nothing  

for your journey2         neither stick 
nor bag nor bread nor money2 and do not 
have         an extra under garment4    
#jji3jjd ,whatever house you enter1 make
 that your home1 and from         it    
start afresh4  #jji3jje ,wherever they  
refuse to receive you1 as you leave that
 town shake         off the very dust   
from your feet as a protest against     
them4  #jji3jjf ,so they departed and   
visited village after village1          
spreading the ,good ,news and performing
 cures everywhere4  #jji3jjg ,now ,herod
 the ,tetrarch heard of all that was    
going on2         and he was bewildered 
because of its being said by some       
that ,john had come back to life1       
#jji3jjh by others that ,elijah had     
appeared1 and by others that some       
one of the ancient ,prophets had come   
back to life4  #jji3jji ,and ,herod     
said1 ,john ,i have beheaded2 but who is
 this1         of whom ,i hear such     
reports8  ,and he sought for an         
opportunity         of seeing ,jesus4   

#jji3jaj ,the ,apostles1 on their       
return1 related to ,jesus all they had  
done4         ,then ,he took them and   
withdrew to a quiet retreat1         to 
a town called ,bethsaida4  #jji3jaa ,but
 the immense crowd1 aware of this1      
followed ,him2 and receiving            
them kindly ,he proceeded to speak to   
them of the ,kingdom of ,god1           
and those who needed to be restored to  
health1 ,he cured4  #jji3jab ,now when  
the day began to decline1 the ,twelve   
came to ,him and said1         ,send the
 people away1 that they may go to the   
villages         and farms round about  
and find lodging and a supply of food2  
because here we are in an uninhabited   
district4  #jji3jac ,you yourselves1 ,he
 said1 must give them food4         ,we 
have nothing1 they replied1 but five    
loaves and a couple         of fish1    
unless indeed we were to go and buy     
provisions         for all this host of 
people4  #jji3jad 7,for there were about
 #e1jjj adult men47  ,but ,he said to   

,his disciples1         ,make them sit  
down in parties of about fifty each4    
#jji3jae ,they did so1 making them all1 
without exception1 sit down4  #jji3jaf  
,then ,he took the five loaves and the  
two fish1 and looking         up to     
,heaven ,he blessed them and broke them 
into portions         which ,he gave to 
the disciples to distribute to the

fully satisfied1 all of them2 and what  
they         had remaining over was     
gathered up1 twelve baskets of          
fragments4  #jji3jah ,one day when ,he  
was praying by ,himself the disciples   
were present2         and ,he asked     
them1 ,who do the people say that ,i am8
  #jji3jai ,john the ,baptist1 they     
replied2 but others say ,elijah2        
and others that some one of the ancient 
,prophets has come         back to life4
  #jji3jbj ,but you1 ,he asked1 who do  
you say that ,i am8         ,god's      
,anointed ,one1 replied ,peter4         
#jji3jba ,and ,jesus strictly forbad    

them to tell this to any one2  #jji3jbb 
and ,he said1 ,the ,son of ,man must    
suffer much cruelty1 be rejected        
by the ,elders and ,high ,priests and   
,scribes1 and be put to death1          
and on the third day be raised to life  
again4  #jji3jbc ,and ,he said to all1  
,if any one is desirous of following me1
         let him ignore self and take up
 his cross day by day1         and so be
 my follower4  #jji3jbd ,for whoever    
desires to save his life shall lose it1 
and whoever         loses his life for  
my sake shall save it4  #jji3jbe ,why1  
what benefit is it to a man to have     
gained the whole world1         but to  
have lost or forfeited his own self4

ashamed of me and my teachings1         
of him the ,son of ,man will be ashamed

the ,father's glory and in that of the

here who will certainly not taste death 

till they have seen         the ,kingdom

days after this that ,jesus1 taking with
         ,him ,peter1 ,john1 and ,james1
 went up the mountain to pray4  #jji3jbi
 ,and while ,he was praying the         
appearance of ,his face underwent       
a change1 and ,his clothing became white
 and radiant4  #jji3jcj ,and suddenly   
there were two men conversing with ,him1
 who were         ,moses and ,elijah4   
#jji3jca ,they came in glory1 and kept  
speaking about ,his death1         which
 ,he was so soon to undergo in          
,jerusalem4  #jji3jcb ,now ,peter and   
the others were weighed down with sleep2
         but1 keeping themselves awake  
all through1 they saw ,his glory1       
and the two men standing with ,him4

to depart from ,him1 ,peter said        
to ,jesus1 ,rabbi1 we are thankful to   
you that we are here4         ,let us   
put up three tents--one for you1 one for
 ,moses1         and one for ,elijah4   

,he did not know what he was saying4    
#jji3jcd ,but while he was thus         
speaking1 there came a cloud which      
spread         over them2 and they were 
awe-struck when they had entered        
into the cloud4  #jji3jce ,then there   
came a voice from within the cloud3     
,this is ,my ,son1 ,my ,chosen ,one3    
listen to ,him4  #jji3jcf ,after this   
voice had spoken1 ,jesus was found      
alone4         ,they kept it to         
themselves1 and said not a word to any  
one         at that time about what they
 had seen4  #jji3jcg ,on the following  
day1 when they were come down from the  
mountain1         a great crowd came to 
meet ,him2  #jji3jch and a man from the 
crowd called out1 ,rabbi1 ,i beg you to 
pity         my son1 for he is my only  
child4  #jji3jci ,at times a spirit     
seizes him and he suddenly cries out4   
,it convulses him1 and makes him foam at
 the mouth1 and does         not leave  
him till it has well-nigh covered him   
with bruises4  #jji3jdj ,i entreated    

your disciples to expel the spirit1 but 
they could not4  #jji3jda ,o unbelieving
 and perverse generation6 replied       
,jesus2         how long shall ,i be    
with you and bear with you8             
,bring your son here to me4  #jji3jdb   
,now while the youth was coming1 the    
spirit dashed him to the ground         
and cruelly convulsed him4  ,but ,jesus 
rebuked the foul spirit1         and    
cured the youth and gave him back to his
 father4  #jji3jdc ,and all were        
awe-struck at the mighty power of ,god4 
,and while every one was expressing     
wonder at all that ,he         was      
doing1 ,he said to his disciples1       
#jji3jdd ,as for you1 store these my    
sayings in your memory2 for1 before     
long1         the ,son of ,man will be  
betrayed into the hands of men4         
#jji3jde ,but they did not understand   
,his meaning3  it was veiled from       
them that they might not perceive it1   
and they were afraid         to ask ,him
 about it4  #jji3jdf ,now there arose a 

dispute among them1 which of them was to
         be the greatest4  #jji3jdg ,and
 ,jesus1 knowing the reasoning that was 
in their hearts1         took a young   
child and made him stand by ,his side   
#jji3jdh and said to them1 ,whoever for 
my sake receives this little child1     
receives me2 and whoever receives me1   
receives ,him who sent me4         ,for 
the lowliest among you all--he is the

,john1 we have seen a man making use of 
your         name to expel demons2 and  
we forbad him1 because he does

forbid him1 said ,jesus1 for he who is  
not against you         is on your side4

for ,him to be received up again        
into ,heaven1 ,he proceeded with fixed

,they went and entered a village of the

would not receive ,him1 because ,he was

saw this1 they said1 ,master1         do
 you wish us to order fire to come down 
from ,heaven         and consume them8

them4  #jji3jef ,and they went to

 proceeded on their way1 a man came to  
,him and said1         ,i will follow

foxes have holes1 said ,jesus1 and the  
birds of the air         have nests2 but
 the ,son of ,man has nowhere to lay

said to another4  ,master1 the man      
replied1         allow me first to go

 dead1 ,jesus rejoined1 to bury their   
own dead2         but you must go and   
announce far and wide the coming of

 said yet another1 ,i will follow you2  
but allow me         first to go and say

 good-bye to my friends at home4        
#jji3jfb ,jesus answered him1 ,no one   
who has put his hand to the plough1     
and then looks behind him1 is fit for   
the ,kingdom of ,god4  #jaj3jja ,after  
this the ,lord appointed seventy others1
 and sent them         before ,him1 by  
twos1 to go to every town or place which
         ,he ,himself intended to visit4
  #jaj3jjb ,and ,he addressed them thus3
  ,the harvest is abundant1         but 
the reapers are few3  therefore entreat 
the ,owner         of the harvest to    
send out more reapers into ,his fields4 
,and now go4  #jaj3jjc ,remember that ,i
 am sending you out as lambs into the   
midst of wolves4  #jaj3jjd ,carry no    
purse1 bag1 nor change of shoes2 and    
salute no one         on your way4

first say1 ,peace be to this house6'    
#jaj3jjf ,and if there is a lover of    
peace there1 your peace shall rest      
upon it2 otherwise come back upon you4

eating and drinking at their table2     
for the labourer deserves his wages4    
,do not move from one         house to

you come to and they receive you1       
eat what they put before you4  #jaj3jji 
,cure the sick in that town1 and tell   
them1 ,the ,kingdom of ,god         is  
now at your door4'  #jaj3jaj ,but       
whatever town you come to and they will 
not receive you1         go out into the
 broader streets and say1  #jaj3jaa ,the
 very dust of your town that hangs about
 us we wipe off         as a protest4   
,only be sure of this1 that the ,kingdom
 of ,god         is close at hand4'

more endurable for ,sodom on         the

miracles been performed in ,tyre and

 in you1 long ere now they would have   
repented1         sitting in sackcloth

 and ,sidon it will be more endurable at
         the ,judgement than for you4

,now a priest happened to be going down

foul spirit has left a man1 it roams

it comes1 it finds the house swept clean
 and         in good order4  #jaa3jbf   
,then it goes and brings with it seven  
other spirits more         malignant    
than itself1 and they enter and dwell   
there2         and in the end that man's
 condition becomes worse than it

spoke a woman in the crowd called out in
 a loud voice1         ,blessed is the  
mother who carried you1 and the breasts

it requires some sign1 but no sign shall
 be given to it except         that of

became a sign to the men of ,nineveh1   
so the ,son of ,man will be a token to

,queen of the ,south will awake at the  
,judgement together         with the men

condemn them2         because she came  
from the extremity of the earth to hear 
the wisdom         of ,solomon2 but

 of ,nineveh at the ,judgement          
together with the present generation1   
and will condemn it2         because    
they repented at the preaching of

the cellar         or under the bushel1 

but on the lampstand1 that people who

 are the things you         ought to    
have attended to1 while not neglecting

,pharisees6 for you love the best seats 
in the synagogues1         and you like 
to be bowed to in places of public

 are like the tombs which lie hidden1   
and the people who walk over them are

,hereupon one of the expounders of the  
,law exclaimed1 ,rabbi1         in      
saying such things you reproach us also4

of the ,law6 replied ,jesus1         for

 you load men with cumbrous burdens     
which you yourselves         will not   
touch with one of your fingers4

a vehement attempt to entangle ,him and 
make ,him give off-hand         answers

wait to catch some unguarded expression

 people had come streaming towards ,him 
by tens         of thousands1 so that   
they were trampling one another under

,beware of the yeast of the ,pharisees1 
that is to say1         beware of

that is covered up which will not be    
uncovered1         nor hidden which will

therefore you have said in the dark1    
will be heard         in the light2 and 
what you have whispered within closed

tell my brother to give me a share of

drink2 and do not waver between hope and

as for you1 your ,father knows that you

 these things         shall be given you

yourselves with purses         that will

the third that ,he         comes and

,his will1         will receive many

been told it and yet did what deserved

 been given1 from him much will be      

required2         and to whom much has  
been entrusted1 of him a larger amount

throw fire upon the earth1 and what is  
my desire8         ,oh that it were even

baptism to undergo2 and how am ,i pent  
up till         it is accomplished6

 give peace on earth8  ,no1 ,i tell     
you that ,i came to bring dissension4

be in one house five persons            
split into parties4  ,three will form a 
party against two         and two will

father against son and son against      
father2 mother attacking daughter       
and daughter her mother1 mother-in-law

you are going before the magistrate1    
on the way take pains to get out of his 
power2 for fear that1         if he     
should drag you before the judge1 the   
judge may hand         you over to the  
officer of the court1 and the officer

,never1 ,i tell you1 will you get free  
till you have paid         the last     
farthing4  #jac3jja ,just at that time  
people came to tell ,him about the      
,galilaeans         whose blood ,pilate 
had mingled with their sacrifices4

reply1 that those ,galilaeans           

were worse sinners than the mass of the 
,galilaeans1         because this

 certainly not4  ,on the contrary1 if   
you are not         penitent you will

those eighteen on whom the tower at     
,siloam fell1 do you         suppose    
they had failed in their duty more than 
all the rest         of the people who

you1 certainly not4  ,on the contrary1  
if you do not         repent you will

,and ,he gave them the following        
parable4  ,a man1 ,he said1         who 
had a fig-tree growing in his garden    
came to look         for fruit on it and

to the gardener1 ,see1 this is the third
 year ,i have         come to look for  
fruit on this fig-tree and cannot find  
any4         ,cut it down4  ,why should 
so much ground be actually wasted8'

,leave it1 ,sir1 this year also1        
till ,i have dug round it and manured

fruit1 well and good2 if it does not1

,once ,he was teaching on the ,sabbath  
in one of the synagogues  #jac3jaa where
 a woman was present who for eighteen   
years had been         a confirmed      
invalid3  she was bent double1 and was  
unable         to lift herself to her   
full height4  #jac3jab ,but ,jesus saw  
her1 and calling to her1 ,he said to    
her1 ,woman1         you are free from  
your weakness4  #jac3jac ,and ,he put   
,his hands on her1 and she immediately  
stood upright         and began to give 
glory to ,god4  #jac3jad ,then the      
,warden of the ,synagogue1 indignant    
that ,jesus         had cured her on a  
,sabbath1 said to the crowd1 ,there are 
six days in the week on which people    
ought to work4         ,on those days   
therefore come and get yourselves cured1
         and not on the ,sabbath day4   

#jac3jae ,but the ,lord's reply to him  
was1 ,hypocrites1 does not each of you  
on the ,sabbath untie his bullock or his
 ass from the stall         and lead him
 to water8  #jac3jaf ,and this woman1   
daughter of ,abraham as she is1 whom    
,satan         had bound for no less    
than eighteen years1 was she not to be  
loosed from this chain because it is the
 ,sabbath day8  #jac3jag ,when ,he had  
said this1 all ,his opponents were      
ashamed1         while the whole        
multitude was delighted at the many     
glorious         things continually done
 by ,him4  #jac3jah ,this prompted ,him 
to say1 ,what is the ,kingdom of ,god   
like8         and to what shall ,i      
compare it8  #jac3jai ,it is like a     
mustard seed which a man drops into the 
soil         in his garden1 and it grows
 and becomes a tree in whose            
branches the birds roost4  #jac3jbj ,and
 again ,he said1 ,to what shall ,i      
compare the ,kingdom of ,god8  #jac3jba 
,it is like yeast which a woman takes   

and buries in a bushel         of flour1
 to work there till the whole is        
leavened4  #jac3jbb ,he was passing     
through town after town and village     
after village1         steadily         
proceeding towards ,jerusalem1  #jac3jbc
 when some one asked ,him1 ,sir1 are    
there but few who are         to be     
saved8  #jac3jbd ,strain every nerve to 
force your way in through the narrow    
gate1         ,he answered2 for         
multitudes1 ,i tell you1 will endeavour 
to find a way in and will not succeed4  
#jac3jbe ,as soon as the ,master of the 
house shall have risen and shut the     
door1         and you have begun to     
stand outside and knock at the door     
and say1 ,sir1 open the door for us'--,i
 do not know you1'         ,he answers2 
you are no friends of mine4'  #jac3jbf  
,then you will plead1 ,we have eaten and
 drunk in your company         and you  
have taught in our streets4'  #jac3jbg  
,but ,he will reply1 ,i tell you that   
you are no friends of mine4             

,begone from me1 all of you1 wrongdoers 
that you are4'  #jac3jbh ,there will be 
the weeping and gnashing of teeth1 when 
you see         ,abraham and ,isaac and 
,jacob and all the ,prophets in the     
,kingdom         of ,god1 and yourselves
 being driven far away4  #jac3jbi ,they 
will come from east and west1 from north
 and south1         and will sit down at
 the banquet in the ,kingdom of ,god4   
#jac3jcj ,and ,i tell you that some now 
last will then be first1         and    
some now first will then be last4       
#jac3jca ,just at that time there came  
some ,pharisees who warned ,him1        
saying1 ,leave this place and continue  
your journey2         ,herod means to   
kill you4  #jac3jcb ,go1 ,he replied1   
and take this message to that fox3      
,see1 to-day and to-morrow ,i am driving
 out demons and         effecting cures1
 and on the third day ,i finish my

 my journey to-day and to-morrow and    
the day following2 for it is not        

conceivable that a ,prophet             
should perish outside of ,jerusalem4

house         of one of the ,rulers of  
the ,pharisee party1 while they were

front of ,him was a man suffering from  
dropsy4  #jad3jjc ,this led ,jesus to   
ask the lawyers and ,pharisees1 ,is it  
allowable to cure people on the         
,sabbath8  #jad3jjd ,they gave ,him no  
answer2 so ,he took hold of the man1    
cured him1         and sent him away4   

#jad3jje ,then ,he turned to them and   
said1 ,which of you shall have         a
 child or an ox fall into a well on the 
,sabbath day1         and will not      
immediately lift him out8  #jad3jjf ,to 
this they could make no reply4  #jad3jjg
 ,then1 when ,he noticed that the       
invited guests chose the best seats1    
,he used this as an illustration and    
said to them1  #jad3jjh ,when any one   
invites you to a wedding banquet1 do not
 take         the best seat1 lest       
perhaps some more honoured guest than   
you         may have been asked1        
#jad3jji and the man who invited you    
both will come and will say to you1     
,make room for this guest1' and then    
you1 ashamed1 will move         to the  
lowest place4  #jad3jaj ,on the         
contrary1 when you are invited go and   
take the lowest place1         that when
 your host comes round he may say to    
you1 ,my friend1         come up        
higher4'  ,this will be doing you honour
 in the presence         of all the     

other guests4  #jad3jaa ,for whoever    
uplifts himself will be humbled1 and he 
who humbles         himself will be     
uplifted4  #jad3jab ,also to ,his host1 
who had invited ,him1 ,he said1 ,when   
you         give a breakfast or a       
dinner1 do not invite your friends      
or brothers or relatives or rich        
neighbours1 lest perhaps         they   
should invite you in return and a       
requital be made you4  #jad3jac ,but    
when you entertain1 invite the poor1 the
 crippled1 the lame1         and the    
blind2  #jad3jad and you will be        
blessed1 because they have no means of  
requiting you1         but there will be
 requital for you at the ,resurrection  
of the righteous4  #jad3jae ,after      
listening to this teaching1 one of ,his 
fellow guests said         to ,him1     
,blessed is he who shall feast in ,god's
 ,kingdom4  #jad3jaf ,a man once gave a 
great dinner1 replied ,jesus1 to which  
he invited a large number of guests4    
#jad3jag ,at dinner-time he sent his    

servant to announce to those who had    
been invited1 ,come1 for things are now 
ready4'  #jad3jah ,but they all without 
exception began to excuse themselves4   
,the first told him1 ,i have purchased a
 piece of land1         and must of     
necessity go and look at it4  ,pray hold
 me excused4'  #jad3jai ,a second       
pleaded1 ,i have bought five yoke of    
oxen1 and am         on my way to try   
them4  ,pray hold me excused4'  #jad3jbj
 ,another said1 ,i am just married4  ,it
 is impossible for         me to come4' 
#jad3jba ,so the servant came and       
brought these answers to his master1    
and they stirred his anger4  ,go out    
quickly1' he said1         into the     
streets of the city--the wide ones and  
the narrow4         ,you will see poor  
men1 and crippled1 blind1 lame3  fetch  
them         all in here4'  #jad3jbb    
,soon the servant reported the result1  
saying1 ,sir1 what you         ordered  
is done1 and there is room still4'      
#jad3jbc ,go out1' replied the master1  

to the high roads and hedge-rows1       
and compel the people to come in1 so

,for ,i tell you that not one of those  
who were invited shall         taste my 
dinner4'  #jad3jbe ,on ,his journey vast
 crowds attended ,him1 towards whom ,he 
turned and said1  #jad3jbf ,if any one  
is coming to me who does not hate his   
father         and mother1 wife and     
children1 brothers and sisters1         
yes and his own life also1 he cannot be

who does not carry his own cross and    
come after me can         be a disciple

desiring to build a tower1 does not sit 
down         first and calculate the    
cost1 asking if he has the means

when he has laid the foundation and is  
unable         to finish1 all who see it
 shall begin to jeer at him1  #jad3jcj  
saying1 ,this man began to build1 but   
could not finish4'  #jad3jca ,or what   

king1 marching to encounter another king
 in war1         does not first sit down
 and deliberate whether he is able      
with ten thousand men to meet the one   
who is advancing against         him    
with twenty thousand8  #jad3jcb ,if not1
 while the other is still a long way    
off1 he sends         messengers and    
sues for peace4  #jad3jcc ,just as no   
one of you who does not detach himself  
from all         that belongs to him can
 be a disciple of mine4  #jad3jcd ,salt 
is good3  but if even the salt has      
become tasteless1         what will you 
use to season it8  #jad3jce ,neither for
 land nor dunghill is it of any use2    
they throw         it away4  ,listen1   
every one who has ears to listen with6  
#jae3jja ,now the tax-gatherers and the 
notorious sinners were everywhere       
in the habit of coming close to ,him to 
listen to ,him2  #jae3jjb and this led  
the ,pharisees and the ,scribes         
indignantly         to complain1 saying1
 ,he gives a welcome to notorious       

sinners1         and joins them at their
 meals6  #jae3jjc ,so in figurative     
language ,he asked them1  #jae3jjd      
,which of you men1 if he has a hundred  
sheep and has lost         one of them1 
does not leave the ninety-nine in their 
pasture         and go in search of the 
lost one till he finds it8  #jae3jje    
,and when he has found it1 he lifts it  
on his shoulder1         glad at heart4 
#jae3jjf ,then coming home he calls his 
friends and neighbours together1        
and says1 ,congratulate me1 for ,i have 
found my sheep--         the one ,i had 
lost4'  #jae3jjg ,i tell you that in the
 same way there will be rejoicing in    
,heaven         over one repentant      
sinner--more rejoicing than over        
ninety-nine         blameless persons   
who have no need of repentance4         
#jae3jjh ,or what woman who has ten     
silver coins1 if she loses one of them1 
does not light a lamp and sweep the     
house and search carefully         till

has found it1 she calls together her    
friends         and neighbours1 and     
says1 ,congratulate me1 for ,i have     
found         the coin which ,i had

 same way there is rejoicing in the     
presence         of the angels of ,god  
over one repentant sinner4  #jae3jaa ,he
 went on to say1 ,there was a man who   
had two sons4  #jae3jab ,the younger of 
them said to his father1 ,father1 give  
me         the share of the property    
that comes to me4'  ,so he divided      
his wealth between them4  #jae3jac ,no  
long time afterwards the younger son got
 all together         and travelled to a
 distant country1 where he wasted his   
money         in debauchery and excess4 
#jae3jad ,at last1 when he had spent    
everything1 there came a terrible       
famine throughout that country1 and he  
began to feel         the pinch of want4
  #jae3jae ,so he went and hired himself
 to one of the inhabitants         of   
that country1 who sent him on to his    

farm to tend swine2  #jae3jaf and he    
longed to make a hearty meal of the pods
 the swine         were eating1 but no  
one gave him any4  #jae3jag ,but on     
coming to himself he said1 ,how many of 
my father's         hired men have more 
bread than they want1 while ,i here am  
dying of hunger6  #jae3jah ,i will rise 
and go to my father1 and will say to    
him1 ,father1 ,i have         sinned    
against ,heaven and before you3         
#jae3jai ,i no longer deserve to be     
called a son of yours3         treat me 
as one of your hired men4'  #jae3jbj ,so
 he rose and came to his father4  ,but  
while he was still         a long way   
off1 his father saw him and pitied him1 
and ran         and threw his arms round
 his neck and kissed him tenderly4      
#jae3jba ,father1' cried the son1 ,i    
have sinned against ,heaven         and 
before you3  no longer do ,i deserve to 
be called         a son of yours4'      
#jae3jbb ,but the father said to his    
servants1 ,fetch a good coat quickly--  

the best one--and put it on him2 and    
bring a ring for his         finger and 
shoes for his feet4  #jae3jbc ,fetch the
 fat calf and kill it1 and let us feast

son here was dead and has come to life  
again3         he was lost and has been

and came near home1 he heard music and

of the lads to him and asked what all

has had the fat calf killed1 because he 
has got him home         safe and

been slaving for you1         and ,i    
have never at any time disobeyed any of 
your orders1         and yet you have   
never given me so much as a kid1 for me 

to enjoy myself with my friends2

is come who has eaten up         your   
property among his bad women1 you have  
killed the fat         calf for him4'

cannot let you         hold it any

said within himself1 ,what am ,i to do8 
,for my master is taking away the       
stewardship from me4         ,i am not  

strong enough for field labour3  to beg1
         ,i should be ashamed4  #jaf3jjd
 ,i see what to do1 in order that when  
,i am discharged from         the       
stewardship they may give me a home in  
their own houses4'  #jaf3jje ,so he     
called all his master's debtors1 one by 
one1 and asked         the first1 ,how  
much are you in debt to my master8'     
#jaf3jjf ,a hundred firkins of oil1' he 
replied4  ,here is your account1'       
said the steward3  sit down quickly and 
change it         into fifty firkins4'  
#jaf3jjg ,to a second he said1 ,and how 
much do you owe8'  ,a hundred           
quarters of wheat1' was the answer4     
,here is your account1'         said he3
  change it into eighty quarters4'      
#jaf3jjh ,and the master praised the    
dishonest steward for his shrewdness2   
for1 in relation to their own           
contemporaries1 the men of this         
age are shrewder than the sons of

 to use the wealth which is ever        

tempting to dishonesty as to win friends
 who1 when it fails1         shall      
welcome you to the tents that never     
perish4  #jaf3jaj ,the man who is honest
 in a very small matter is honest       
in a great one also2 and he who is      
dishonest in a very small         matter
 is dishonest in a great one also4      
#jaf3jaa ,if therefore you have not     
proved yourselves faithful in dealing   
with the wealth that is tainted with    
fraud1 who will entrust         to you  
the true good8  #jaf3jab ,and if you    
have not been faithful in dealing with  
that which is         not your own1 who 
will give you that which is your own8   
#jaf3jac ,no servant can be in bondage  
to two masters4         ,for either he  
will hate one and love the other1       
or else he will cling fast to one and   
scorn the other4         ,you cannot be 
bondservants both of ,god and of gold4  
#jaf3jad ,to all this the ,pharisees    
listened1 bitterly jeering at ,him2     
for they were lovers of money4  #jaf3jae

 ,you are they1 ,he said to them1 who   
boast of their own goodness             
before men1 but ,god sees your hearts2  
for that which holds         a proud    
position among men is detestable in     
,god's sight4  #jaf3jaf ,the ,law and   
the ,prophets continued until ,john     
came3         from that time the ,good  
,news of the ,kingdom of ,god has       
been spreading1 and all classes have    
been forcing their         way into it4

 sky to pass away than for one          
smallest detail of the ,law to fall to

divorces his wife and marries another   
commits adultery2 and he who marries her
 when so divorced         from her

,there was once a rich man who          
habitually arrayed himself in purple    
and fine linen1 and enjoyed a splendid  
banquet every day1  #jaf3jbj while at   
his outer door there lay a beggar1      
,lazarus by name1  #jaf3jba covered with

 sores and longing to make a full meal  
off         the scraps flung on the     
floor from the rich man's table4        
,nay1 the dogs1 too1 used to come and   
lick his sores4  #jaf3jbb ,but in course
 of time the beggar died2 and he was    
carried         by the angels into      
,abraham's bosom4  ,the rich man also   
died1         and had a funeral4        
#jaf3jbc ,and in ,hades1 being in       
torment1 he looked and saw ,abraham     
in the far distance1 and ,lazarus       
resting in his arms4  #jaf3jbd ,so he   
cried aloud1 and said1 ,father ,abraham1
 take pity         on me and send       
,lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in
 water         and cool my tongue1 for  
,i am in agony in this flame4'  #jaf3jbe
 ,remember1 my child1' said ,abraham1   
that you had all         your good      
things during your lifetime1 and that   
,lazarus         in like manner had his 
bad things4  ,but1 now and here1        
he is receiving consolation and you are

this1 a vast chasm is immovably fixed   
between         us and you1 put there in
 order that those who desire to cross   
from this side to you may not be able1  
nor any be able to cross         over

send him to         my father's house4

,let him earnestly warn them1           
lest they also come to this place of

some one goes         to them from the

they would not be led to believe even if

disciples1 ,it is inevitable that causes

like a mustard seed1         you might

tending sheep1         will say to him

orders given you1         must say1     
,there is no merit in our service3  what
 we have         done is only what we

 they pursued their journey to          
,jerusalem1 ,he passed through          
,samaria and ,galilee4  #jag3jab ,and as
 ,he entered a certain village1 ten men 
met ,him who were         lepers and

voices they cried out1 ,jesus1 ,rabbi1  
take pity on us4  #jag3jad ,perceiving  
this1 ,he said to them1 ,go and show    
yourselves         to the ,priests4     
,and while on their way to do this they

 seeing that he was cured1 came back1   
adoring and         praising ,god in a

himself at the feet of ,jesus1 thanking

not so come that you         can

there6'--for the ,kingdom         of

turning to ,his disciples1 ,he said1    
,there will come a time         when you
 will wish you could see a single one of

taking wives and giving wives1          
up to the very day on which ,noah       
entered the ,ark1 and the ,deluge

,the same was true in the time of ,lot3 
they were eating         and drinking1  
buying and selling1 planting and        
building2  #jag3jbi but on the day that 
,lot left ,sodom1 ,god rained fire and  
brimstone         from the sky and

so will it be on the day that the veil

the roof and his property indoors1      
let him not go down to fetch it2 and1 in

man who makes it his object to keep his 
own life safe1         will lose it2 but
 whoever loses his life will preserve

you1 there will be two men in one bed3  
one will be taken away and the other    
left behind4  #jag3jce ,there will be   
two women turning the mill together3    
one will be taken away and the other

,where1 ,master8 they inquired4  ,where 
the dead body is1         ,he replied1  
there also will the vultures flock      
together4  #jah3jja ,he also taught them
 by a parable that they must always pray
         and never lose heart4  #jah3jjb
 ,in a certain town1 ,he said1 there was
 a judge who had no         fear of ,god
 and no respect for man4  #jah3jjc ,and 
in the same town was a widow who        

repeatedly came and         entreated   
him1 saying1 ,give me justice and stop

would not1 but afterwards he said to    
himself1         ,though ,i have neither
 reverence for ,god nor respect for man1
  #jah3jje yet because she annoys me ,i 
will give her justice1 to prevent       
her from constantly coming to pester

,hear those words of the unjust judge4  
#jah3jjg ,and will not ,god avenge the  
wrongs of ,his own ,people who cry      
aloud to ,him day and night1 although   
,he seems slow in taking         action

will soon avenge their wrongs4  ,yet1   
when the ,son         of ,man comes1    
will ,he find faith on earth8  #jah3jji 
,and to some who relied on themselves as
 being righteous men1         and looked
 down upon all others1 ,he addressed    
this parable4  #jah3jaj ,two men went up
 to the ,temple to pray1 ,he said2 one  
being         a ,pharisee and the other 

a tax-gatherer4  #jah3jaa ,the          
,pharisee1 standing erect1 prayed as    
follows by himself3         ,o ,god1 ,i 
thank ,thee that ,i am not like other   
people--         ,i am not a thief nor a
 cheat nor an adulterer1 nor do ,i      
even resemble this tax-gatherer4        
#jah3jab ,i fast twice a week4  ,i pay  
the tithe on all my gains4'  #jah3jac   
,but the tax-gatherer1 standing far     
back1 would not so much as lift         
his eyes to ,heaven1 but kept beating   
his breast and saying1         ,o ,god1 
be reconciled to me1 sinner that ,i am4'

went home more thoroughly absolved      
from guilt than the other2 for every one
 who uplifts himself         will be    
humbled1 but he who humbles himself will

 but the disciples1 noticing this1      
proceeded to find fault with them4

replied ,jesus2 there is no one

answer ,jesus said to him1 ,there is    
still         one thing wanting in you4 
,sell everything you possess and give   

the money to the poor1 and you shall

hearing these words he was deeply       
sorrowful1         for he was           
exceedingly rich4  #jah3jbd ,jesus saw  
his sorrow1 and said1 ,with how hard a  
struggle         do the possessors of   
riches ever enter the ,kingdom of ,god6

to go through a needle's eye            
than for a rich man to enter the

can be saved8 exclaimed the hearers4

#jah3jbh ,then ,peter said1 ,see1 we    
have given up our homes and         have

will scourge ,him and put ,him to death1

 was a blind man sitting         by the

and tried to silence him2         but he

,to-day salvation has come         to   
this house1 seeing that he too is a son

teach them         by a parable1 because
 ,he was near to ,jerusalem and they

 noble family travelled to a distant    
country to obtain the rank of king1 and

of his servants and gave each of them a 
pound1         instructing them to trade
 with the money during his absence4

and sent a deputation after him         
to say1 ,we are not willing that he

upon his return1 after he had obtained  
the sovereignty1         he ordered     
those servants to whom he had given the

faithful in a very small matter1 be in

one also1 ,and you1 be the governor

came4  ,sir1' he said1 here is your     
pound1         which ,i have kept wrapt

afraid of you1 because you are a severe 
man3         you take up what you did   
not lay down1 and you reap what you

words1' he replied1 ,i will judge you1

who were sent went and found things as

they were untying the colt the owners

they brought it to ,jesus1 and after    
throwing their outer         garments on
 the colt they placed ,jesus on it4

carpeted the road with their garments4

near ,jerusalem1 and descending         
the ,mount of ,olives1 the whole        
multitude of the disciples began        
in their joy to praise ,god in loud     
voices for all the mighty         deeds

is the ,king1 they cried1 who comes in  
the name of         the ,lord3  in      
,heaven peace1 and glory in the highest

 ,pharisees in the crowd appealed to

you have made it a robbers' cave4

some means of destroying ,him1          
as were also the leading men of the

find any way of doing it1 for the people

 you doing these things8  ,and who is it
         that gave you this authority8

baptism of ,heavenly or of human origin8

with one another4  ,if we say           
,heavenly1'         they argued1 he will

 ,he said1 who planted a vineyard1 let  
it         out to vine-dressers1 and    
went abroad for a considerable time4

servant to the vine-dressers1           
for them to give him a share of the     
crop2 but the vine-dressers         beat
 him cruelly and sent him away

second servant2 and him too they beat   
and ill         treated and sent away   
empty-handed4  #jbj3jab ,then again he  
sent a third2 and this one also they    
wounded         and drove away4         
#jbj3jac ,then the owner of the vineyard

 said1 ,what am ,i to do8         ,i    
will send my son--my dearly-loved son3  
they will         probably respect him4'
  #jbj3jad ,but when the vine-dressers  
saw him1 they discussed         the     
matter with one another1 and said1 ,this
 is the heir3         let us kill him1  
that the inheritance may be ours4'      
#jbj3jae ,so they turned him out of the 
vineyard and murdered him4         ,what
 then will the owner of the vineyard do 
to them8  #jbj3jaf ,he will come and put
 these vine-dressers to death1 and give 
the vineyard to others4  ,god forbid6   
exclaimed the hearers4  #jbj3jag ,he    
looked at them and said1 ,what then does
 that mean which         is written1    
,the ,stone which the builders rejected 
has been         made the cornerstone'8 
#jbj3jah ,every one who falls on that   
stone will be severely hurt1         but
 on whomsoever it falls1 he will be     
utterly crushed4  #jbj3jai ,at this the 
,scribes and the ,high ,priests wanted  
to lay hands         on ,him1 then and  

there2 only they were afraid of the     
people4         ,for they saw that in   
this parable ,he had referred to them4

 their opportunity1 they sent           
spies who were to act the part of good  
and honest men1         that they might 
fasten on some expression of ,his1 so as
 to hand         ,him over to the ruling
 power and the ,governor's authority4

,him4  ,rabbi1 they said1         we    
know that you say and teach what is     
right and that you         make no      
distinctions between one man and        
another1 but teach         ,god's way

,but ,he saw through their knavery and  
replied1  #jbj3jbd ,show me a shilling2 
whose likeness and inscription does     
it bear8  ,caesar's1 they said4         
#jbj3jbe ,pay therefore1 ,he replied1   
what is ,caesar's to ,caesar--          
and what is ,god's to ,god4  #jbj3jbf   

,there was nothing here that they could 
lay hold of before         the people1  
and marvelling at ,his answer they said 
no more4  #jbj3jbg ,next some of the    
,sadducees came forward 7who deny that  
there         is a ,resurrection71 and  
they asked ,him1  #jbj3jbh ,rabbi1      
,moses made it a law for us that if a   
man's brother         should die1       
leaving a wife but no children1 the man 
shall         marry the widow and raise 
up a family for his brother4  #jbj3jbi  
,now there were seven brothers4  ,the   
first of them took a wife         and   
died childless4  #jbj3jcj ,the second   
and the third also took her2  #jbj3jca  
and all seven1 having done the same1    
left no children         when they died4

,resurrection--whose wife shall she

for those who shall have been deemed    
worthy to find a place         in that  
other age and in the ,resurrection from 
among the dead1         the men do not  
marry and the women are not given in    
marriage4  #jbj3jcf ,for indeed they    
cannot die again2 they are like angels1 
and are sons of ,god through being sons 
of the ,resurrection4  #jbj3jcg ,but    
that the dead rise to life even ,moses  
clearly implies         in the passage  
about the ,bush1 where he calls the     
,lord ,the ,god         of ,abraham1 the
 ,god of ,isaac1 and the ,god of

dead1 but of living men1 for to ,him

the ,scribes replied1 ,rabbi1 you have

however1 no one ventured to challenge

 from what they could well spare they   
have all of them         contributed to 
the offerings1 but she in her need has  
thrown         in all she had to live   
on4  #jba3jje ,when some were remarking 
about the ,temple1 how it was           
embellished         with beautiful      
stones and dedicated gifts1 ,he said1   
#jba3jjf ,as to these things which you  
now admire1 the time is coming          
when there will not be one stone left   
here upon another         which will not
 be pulled down4  #jba3jjg ,rabbi1 when 
will this be8 they asked ,him1 and what 
will be         the token given when    
these things are about to take place8   
#jba3jjh ,see to it1 ,he replied1 that  
you are not misled2         for many    
will come assuming my name and          
professing1         ,i am ,he1' or      
saying1 ,the time is close at hand4'

,but when you hear of wars and turmoils1
 be not afraid2         for these things
 must happen first1 but the end does

arms against nation1         and kingdom

will be great earthquakes1 and in places
 famines         and pestilence2 and    
there will be terrible sights and

happen they will lay hands on you       
and persecute you4  ,they will deliver  
you up to synagogues         and to     
prison1 and you will be brought before  
kings and governors         for my sake4

,make up your minds1 however1 not to    
prepare a defence beforehand1  #jba3jae 
for ,i will give you utterance and      
wisdom which none of your               
opponents will be able to withstand or

betrayed even by parents1 brothers1     
relatives1 friends2         and some of 
you they will put to death4  #jba3jag   

,you will be the objects of universal   
hatred because you are         called by
 my name2  #jba3jah and yet not a hair  
of your heads shall perish4  #jba3jai   
,by your patient endurance you will     
purchase your lives4  #jba3jbj ,but when
 you see ,jerusalem with armies         
encamping round         her on every    
side1 then be certain that her overthrow
 is         close at hand4  #jba3jba    
,then let those who shall be in ,judaea 
escape to the hills2         let those  
who are in the city leave it1 and those 
who are         in the country not enter
 in4  #jba3jbb ,for those are the days  
of vengeance and of fulfilling all      
that is written4  #jba3jbc ,alas for the
 women who at that time are with child  
or who         have infants2 for there  
will be great distress in the land1     
and anger towards this ,people4

or be carried off into slavery          
among all the ,gentiles4  ,and          
,jerusalem will be trampled             

under foot by the ,gentiles1 till the   
appointed times of         the ,gentiles

signs in sun1 moon1 and stars2 and on   
earth         anguish among the nations 
in their bewilderment at the roaring

while men's hearts are fainting for

expectation of what is coming on the    
world4  ,for the forces         which   
control the heavens will be disordered  
and disturbed4  #jba3jbg ,and then will 
they see the ,son of ,man coming in a   
cloud         with great power and      
glory4  #jba3jbh ,but when all this is  
beginning to take place1 grieve no      
longer4         ,lift up your heads1    
because your deliverance is drawing

 to them4  ,see1 ,he said1 the fig-tree 
and all the trees4  #jba3jcj ,as soon as
 they have shot out their leaves1 you   
know at a glance         that summer is

see these things happening1 you may be  
sure         that the ,kingdom of ,god  
is near4  #jba3jcb ,i tell you in solemn
 truth that the present generation will 
certainly not pass away without all     
these things having         first taken 
place4  #jba3jcc ,earth and sky will    
pass away1 but it is certain that my    
words         will not pass away4       
#jba3jcd ,but take heed to yourselves1  
lest your souls be weighed down with    
self-indulgence and drunkenness or the  
anxieties of this life1         and that
 day come upon you1 suddenly1 like a    
falling trap2  #jba3jce for it will come
 on all dwellers on the face of the     
whole earth4  #jba3jcf ,but beware of   
slumbering2 and every moment pray that  
you may         be fully strengthened to
 escape from all these coming evils1    
and to take your stand in the presence

habit at this time was to teach in the  
,temple by day1 but to go         out   
and spend the night on the ,mount called

 the ,oliveyard4  #jba3jch ,and all the 
people came to ,him in the ,temple1     
early in the morning1         to listen 
to ,him4  #jbb3jja ,meanwhile the       
,festival of the ,unleavened ,bread1    
called the ,passover1 was approaching1  
#jbb3jjb and the ,high ,priests and the 
,scribes were contriving how to         
destroy ,him4  ,but they feared the     
people4  #jbb3jjc ,satan1 however1      
entered into ,judas 7the man called     
,iscariot7         who was one of the   
,twelve4  #jbb3jjd ,he went and         
conferred with the ,high ,priests and   
,commanders         as to how he should 
deliver ,him up to them4  #jbb3jje ,this
 gave them great pleasure1 and they     
agreed to pay him4  #jbb3jjf ,he        
accepted their offer1 and then looked   
out for an opportunity         to betray
 ,him when the people were not there4

,unleavened ,bread came--the day for the
 ,passover         lamb to be

,peter and ,john with instructions4     
,go1 ,he said1         and prepare the  
,passover for us1 that we may eat it4

they asked4  #jbb3jaj ,you will no      
sooner have entered the city1 ,he       
replied1         than you will meet a   
man carrying a pitcher of water4        
,follow him into the house to which he

,where is the room where ,i can eat the

,and he will show you a large furnished 
room upstairs4         ,there make your

and found all as ,he had told them2 and 
they got         the ,passover ready4   
#jbb3jad ,when the time was come1 and   
,he had taken ,his place at table1      
and the ,apostles with ,him1  #jbb3jae  
,he said to them1 ,earnestly have ,i    
longed to eat this ,passover            
with you before ,i suffer2  #jbb3jaf for
 ,i tell you that ,i certainly shall not

 eat one again till         its full    
meaning has been brought out in the     
,kingdom of ,god4  #jbb3jag ,then1      
having received the cup and given       
thanks1 ,he said1         ,take this and
 share it among yourselves2  #jbb3jah   
for ,i tell you that from this time ,i  
will never drink the produce         of 
the vine till the ,kingdom of ,god has

,passover biscuit1 ,he gave thanks and  
broke it1         and gave it to them1  
saying1 ,this is my body which is being 
given on your behalf3  this do in       
remembrance of me4  #jbb3jbj ,he gave   
them the cup in like manner1 when the   
meal was over4         ,this cup1 ,he   
said1 is the new ,covenant ratified by  
my blood         which is to be poured  
out on your behalf4  #jbb3jba ,yet the  
hand of him who is betraying me is at   
the table with me4  #jbb3jbb ,for indeed
 the ,son of ,man goes on ,his way--,his
 pre-destined way2         yet alas for 
that man who is betraying ,him6

discuss with one another which of them  
it could possibly be who was about to do

dispute among them which of them should 
be         regarded as greatest4

kings of the ,gentiles are their        
masters1         and those who exercise 
authority over them are called

not so2 but let the greatest among you

7and his soldiers         with him7 made
 sport of ,him1 dressed ,him in a       
gorgeous costume1         and sent ,him

very day ,herod and ,pilate became      
friends again1         for they had been
 for some time at enmity4  #jbc3jac     
,then calling together the ,high        
,priests and the ,rulers and         the
 people1 ,pilate said1  #jbc3jad ,you   
have brought this man to me on a charge 
of corrupting         the loyalty of the
 people4  ,but1 you see1 ,i have        
examined him         in your presence   
and have discovered in the man no ground
         for the accusations which you

does ,herod2 for he has sent him back to
 us2 and1 you see1         there is     
nothing he has done that deserves death4

light punishment and release him4

in him nothing that         deserves

outcries         that ,he should be

who were beating their breasts and      
wailing for ,him4  #jbc3jbh ,but ,jesus 
turned towards them and said1 ,daughters
 of ,jerusalem1         weep not for me1
 but weep for yourselves and for your   
children4  #jbc3jbi ,for a time is      
coming when they will say1 ,blessed are 
the women who never bore children1 and  
the breasts which have         never    
given nourishment4'  #jbc3jcj ,then will
 they begin to say to the mountains1    
,fall on us2'         and to the hills1

doing these things in the case of the   
green tree1         what will be done in

put them to         death with ,him4

nailed ,him to the cross1 and the       
criminals also1 one at ,his

garments among them1         drawing

criminals who had been crucified

taking it down1 he wrapped it in a linen
 sheet and laid         it in a tomb in 
the rock1 where no one else had yet been

 ,day1 and the ,sabbath was near at

had come with ,jesus from ,galilee--    
followed close behind1 and saw the tomb 
and how ,his         body was placed4

prepared spices and perfumes4

that the ,son of ,man must be betrayed  
into         the hands of sinful men1   
and be crucified1 and on the third

remembered ,his words1  #jbd3jji and    
returning from the tomb they reported   
all this to the ,eleven         and to

,mary of ,magdala1 ,joanna1 and ,mary   
the mother         of ,james2 and they  
and the rest of the women related all

 ,but the whole story seemed to them an 
idle tale2 they could         not       
believe the women4  #jbd3jab ,peter1    
however1 rose and ran to the tomb4      

,stooping and looking in1         he saw
 nothing but the linen cloths3  so he   
went away to his         own home1      
wondering at what had happened4

disciples were walking to ,emmaus1      
a village seven or eight miles from

conversing about all these recent

,are you a stranger         lodging     
alone in ,jerusalem1 that you have known
 nothing         of the things that have

,what things8  ,he asked4  ,the things  
about ,jesus the ,nazarene1         they

 said1 who was a ,prophet powerful in   
work and word         before ,god and   
all the people2  #jbd3jbj and how our   
,high ,priests and ,rulers delivered    
,him up to be         sentenced to      
death1 and crucified ,him4  #jbd3jba    
,but we were hoping that it was ,he who 
was about to ransom ,israel4            
,yes1 and moreover it was the day before
 yesterday that         these things    
happened4  #jbd3jbb ,and1 besides1 some 
of the women of our company have amazed 
us4         ,they went to the tomb at   
daybreak1  #jbd3jbc and1 finding that   
,his body was not there1 they came and  
declared         to us that they had    
also seen a vision of angels who said

 some of our party went to the tomb and 
found things         just as the women  
had said2 but ,jesus ,himself they did  
not see4  #jbd3jbe ,o dull-witted men1  
,he replied1 with minds so slow to      
believe         all that the ,prophets

necessity for the ,christ thus to       
suffer1         and then enter into ,his

,moses and all the ,prophets1 ,he       
explained         to them the passages  
in ,scripture which refer to ,himself4

village to which they were going1       
,he appeared to be going further4

remain with them4  ,because1 said they1 
it is getting towards evening1 and the  
day is nearly over4         ,so ,he went

 soon as ,he had sat down with them1 and

blessed and broken it1 and was handing

opened and they recognized ,him4

another1 burning         within us while
 ,he talked to us on the way and        
explained         the ,scriptures to us8

hour's delay returned to ,jerusalem1    
and found the ,eleven and the rest met

,yes1 it is true3  the ,master has come 
back to life4         ,he has been seen

what had happened on the way1 and how   
,he         had been recognized by them

,himself stood in their midst

 thought they were         looking at a

such questionings in your minds8

for a spirit has not flesh and bones as

and in the ,prophets         and the

,thus it is written that the ,christ    
would suffer         and on the third   
day rise again from among the dead2

repentance and forgiveness of sins to
