for they also went to the festival day4

was a festival day of the ,jews3 and    
,jesus went  up to ,jerusalem4    #e3b4 
,now there is at ,jerusalem a pond1     
called ,probatica1 which in ,hebrew  is 
named ,bethsaida1 having five porches4  
,probatica444 ,that is1 the sheep pond2 
either so called1 because the  sheep    
were washed therein1 that were to be    
offered up in sacrifice in  the temple1 

or because it was near the sheep gate4  
,that this was a pond  where miracles   
were wrought is evident from the sacred 
text2 and also  that the water had no   
natural virtue to heal1 as one only of  
those put  in after the motion of the   
water was restored to health2 for if the
  water had the healing quality1 the    
others would have the like benefit1     
being put into it about the same time4  
#e3c4 ,in these lay a great multitude of
 sick1 of blind1 of lame1 of  withered3 
waiting for the moving of the water4    
#e3d4 ,and an angel of the ,lord        
descended at certain times into the pond
  and the water was moved4 ,and he that 
went down first into the pond after  the
 motion of the water was made whole of  
whatsoever infirmity he lay  under4     
#e3e4 ,and there was a certain man there
 that had been eight and thirty  years  
under his infirmity4    #e3f4 ,him when 
,jesus had seen lying1 and knew that he 
had been now a long  time1 he saith to  
him3 ,wilt thou be made whole8    #e3g4 

,the infirm man answered him3 ,sir1 ,i  
have no man1 when the water is          
troubled1 to put me into the pond4 ,for 
whilst ,i am coming1 another goeth  down
 before me4    #e3h4 ,jesus saith to    
him3 ,arise1 take up thy bed and walk4  
#e3i4 ,and immediately the man was made 
whole3 and he took up his bed and       
walked4 ,and it was the sabbath that

 to him that was healed3 ,it is the     
sabbath4  ,it is not lawful for thee to

them3 ,he that made me whole1 he said to

is that man who said to thee3 ,take  up

was healed knew not who it was3 for     
,jesus went aside  from the multitude

,afterwards1 ,jesus findeth him in the  
temple and saith to him3  ,behold thou  
art made whole3 sin no more1 lest some

,the man went his way and told the ,jews
 that it was ,jesus who had  made him   
whole4    #e3af4 ,therefore did the     
,jews persecute ,jesus1 because he did  
these  things on the sabbath4    #e3ag4 
,but ,jesus answered them3 ,my ,father  
worketh until now2 and ,i work4         
#e3ah4 ,hereupon therefore the ,jews    
sought the more to kill him1 because  he
 did not only break the sabbath but also
 said ,god was his ,father1  making     
himself equal to ,god4    #e3ai4 ,then  
,jesus answered and said to them3 ,amen1
 amen1 ,i say unto you1  the ,son cannot
 do any thing of himself1 but what he   
seeth the ,father  doing3 for what      
things soever he doth1 these the ,son

,for the ,father loveth the ,son and    
sheweth him all things which  himself   
doth3 and greater works than these will 
he shew him1 that you  may wonder4

judge any man3 but hath given all

cometh not into  judgment1 but is passed

because ,i seek not my own will but the

 that beareth witness of me3 and ,i know
 that the  witness which he witnesseth

,it is not a command for  all to read

whom alone they could have that true

,jesus walking upon the sea and drawing

,they were willing therefore to take him
 into the ship4 ,and  presently the ship
 was at the land to which they were

of the  sea saw that there was no other

not entered into the ship with his      
disciples1 but that his disciples  were

the place where  they had eaten the

that other side of the sea1 they  said

seek  me1 not because you have seen     
miracles1 but because you did eat of the

,labour not for the meat which          
perisheth1 but for that which  endureth

 man will give you4 ,for  him hath ,god1

them3 ,this is the work of ,god1 that

fathers did eat manna in the desert1 as

cometh to  me shall not hunger3 and he

living bread which came down from

 said to them3 ,murmur not among

is a divine precept1 insinuated in this 
text2 which the faithful  fulfil1 though
 they receive but in one kind2 because  

in one kind they  receive both body and 
blood1 which cannot be separated from   
each other4  ,hence1 life eternal is    
here promised to the worthy receiving1

 any man eat of this bread1 he shall

will give1 is my flesh for the life of

  apprehension of eating his flesh1 and 
drinking his blood1 in a vulgar  and    
carnal manner1 by letting them know he  
should take his whole body  living with 
him to heaven2 and consequently not     
suffer it to be as they  supposed1      
divided1 mangled1 and consumed upon     
earth4    #f3fd4 ,it is the spirit that 

quickeneth3 the flesh profiteth nothing4
 ,the  words that ,i have spoken to you 
are spirit and life4    ,the flesh      
profiteth nothing444 ,dead flesh        
separated from the spirit1 in  the gross
 manner they supposed they were to eat  
his flesh1 would profit  nothing4       
,neither doth man's flesh1 that is to   
say1 man's natural and  carnal          
apprehension1 7which refuses to be      
subject to the spirit1 and  words of    
,christ17 profit any thing4 ,but it     
would be the height of  blasphemy1 to   
say the living flesh of ,christ 7which  
we receive in the  blessed sacarament1  
with his spirit1 that is1 with his soul 
and  divinity7 profiteth nothing4 ,for  
if ,christ's flesh had profitedus       
nothing1 he would never have taken flesh
 for us1 nor died in us nothing1  he    
would never have taken flesh for us1 nor
 died in the flesh for us4  ,are spirit 
and life444 ,by proposing to you a      
heavenly sacrament1 in  which you shall 
receive1 in a wonderful manner1 spirit1 

grace1 and life1  in its very fountain4

believe not4 ,for ,jesus knew from  the 
beginning who they were that did not    
believe and who he was that  would

,therefore did ,i say to you that no man
 can come to  me1 unless it be given him

many of his disciples went back and     
walked no more  with him4    #f3fh4     
,then ,jesus said to the twelve3 ,will

multitude concerning him4  ,for some    
said3 ,he is a good man4 ,and others    
said3 ,no1 but he seduceth  the people4

about the midst of the feast1 ,jesus    
went up into the temple  and taught4

not mine1 but his  that sent me4

circumcision 7not because it is of

disciples by the sea side and gives

abroad among the brethren1 that that    
disciple should not die4 ,and ,jesus did
 not say to him3 ,he should not  die2   
but3 ,so ,i will have him to remain till

 ,this is that disciple who giveth      

testimony of these things and  hath     
written these things3 and we know that  
his testimony is true4    #ba3be4 ,but  
there are also many other things which  
,jesus did which1 if  they were written 
every one1 the world itself4 ,i think1  
would not be  able to contain the books 
that should be written4
