the number of captives that were carried away to ,babylon with king ,,joachin4 ,he was contemporary with ,,jeremias1 and prophesied to the same effect in ,babylon1 as ,,jeremias did in ,jerusalem2 and is said to have ended his days in like manner1 by martyrdom4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #a ,the time of ,ezechiel's prophecy3 he sees a glorious vision4 #a3a4 ,now it came to pass in the thirtieth year1 in the fourth month1 on the fifth day of the month1 when ,i was in the midst of the captives by the river ,chobar1 the heavens were opened1 and ,i saw the visions of ,god4 ,the thirtieth year444 ,either of the age of ,ezechiel2 or1 as others will have it1 from the solemn covenant made in the eighteenth year of the reign of ,josias4 #d ,kings #bc4 #a3b4 ,on the fifth day of the month1 the same was the fifth year of the captivity of king ,joachin1 #a3c4 ,the word of the ,lord came to ,ezechiel the priest the son of ,buzi in the land of the ,chaldeans1 by the river ,chobar3 and the hand of the ,lord was there upon him4 #a3d4 ,and ,i saw1 and behold a whirlwind came out of the north3 and a great cloud1 and a fire infolding it1 and brightness was about it3 and out of the midst thereof1 that is1 out of the midst of the fire1 as it were the resemblance of amber3 #a3e4 ,and in the midst thereof the likeness of four living creatures3 and this was their appearance3 there was the likeness of a man in them4 ,living creatures444 ,cherubims 7as appears from ,ecclesiasticus #di4aj7 represented to the prophet under these mysterious shapes1 as supporting the throne of ,god1 and as it were drawing his chariot4 ,all this chapter appeared so obscure1 and so full of mysteries to the ancient ,hebrews1 that1 as we learn from ,st4 ,jerome1 7,ep4 ad ,paulin417 they suffered none to read it before they were thirty years old4 #a3f4 ,every one had four faces1 and every one four wings4 #a3g4 ,their feet were straight feet1 and the sole of their foot was like the sole of a calf's foot1 and they sparkled like the appearance of glowing brass4 #a3h4 ,and they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides3 and they had faces1 and wings on the four sides1 #a3i4 ,and the wings of one were joined to the wings of another4 ,they turned not when they went3 but every one went straight forward4 #a3aj4 ,and as for the likeness of their faces3 there was the face of a man1 and the face of a lion on the right side of all the four3 and the face of an ox1 on the left side of all the four3 and the face of an eagle over all the four4 #a3aa4 ,and their faces1 and their wings were stretched upward3 two wings of every one were joined1 and two covered their bodies3 #a3ab4 ,and every one of them went straight forward3 whither the impulse of the spirit was to go1 thither they went3 and they turned not when they went4 #a3ac4 ,and as for the likeness of the living creatures1 their appearance was like that of burning coals of fire1 and like the appearance of lamps4 ,this was the vision running to and fro in the midst of the living creatures1 a bright fire1 and lightning going forth from the fire4 #a3ad4 ,and the living creatures ran and returned like flashes of lightning4 #a3ae4 ,now as ,i beheld the living creatures1 there appeared upon the earth by the living creatures one wheel with four faces4 #a3af4 ,and the appearance of the wheels1 and the work of them was like the appearance of the sea3 and the four had all one likeness3 and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the midst of a wheel4 #a3ag4 ,when they went1 they went by their four parts3 and they turned not when they went4 ,when they went1 they went by their four parts444 ,that is1 indifferently to any of their sides either forward or backward3 to the right or to the left4 #a3ah4 ,the wheels had also a size1 and a height1 and a dreadful appearance3 and the whole body was full of eyes round about all the four4 #a3ai4 ,and1 when the living creatures went1 the wheels also went together by them3 and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth1 the wheels also were lifted up with them4 #a3bj4 ,withersoever the spirit went1 thither as the spirit went the wheels also were lifted up withal1 and followed it3 for the spirit of life was in the wheels4 #a3ba4 ,when those went these went1 and when those stood these stood1 and when those were lifted up from the earth1 the wheels were lifted up together1 and followed them3 for the spirit of life was in the wheels4 #a3bb4 ,and over the heads of the living creatures was the likeness of the firmament1 the appearance of crystal terrible to behold1 and stretched out over their heads above4 #a3bc4 ,and under the firmament were their wings straight1 the one toward the other1 every one with two wings covered his body1 and the other was covered in like manner4 #a3bd4 ,and ,i heard the noise of their wings1 like the noise of many waters1 as it were the voice of the most high ,god3 when they walked1 it was like the voice of a multitude1 like the noise of an army1 and when they stood1 their wings were let down4 #a3be4 ,for when a voice came from above the firmament1 that was over their heads1 they stood1 and let down their wings4 #a3bf4 ,and above the firmament that was over their heads1 was the likeness of a throne1 as the appearance of the sapphire stone1 and upon the likeness of the throne1 was the likeness of the appearance of a man above upon it4 #a3bg4 ,and ,i saw as it were the resemblance of amber as the appearance of fire within it round about3 from his loins and upward1 and from his loins downward1 ,i saw as it were the resemblance of fire shining round about4 #a3bh4 ,as the appearance of the rainbow when it is in a cloud on a rainy day3 this was the appearance of the brightness round about4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #b ,the prophet receives his commission4 #b3a4 ,this was the vision of the likeness of the glory of the ,lord1 and ,i saw1 and ,i fell upon my face1 and ,i heard the voice of one that spoke1 and he said to me3 ,son of man1 stand upon thy feet1 and ,i will speak to thee4 #b3b4 ,and the spirit entered into me after that he spoke to me1 and he set me upon my feet3 and ,i heard him speaking to me1 #b3c4 ,and saying3 ,son of man1 ,i send thee to the children of ,israel1 to a rebellious people1 that hath revolted from me1 they1 and their fathers1 have transgressed my covenant even unto this day4 #b3d4 ,and they to whom ,i send thee are children of a hard face1 and of an obstinate heart3 and thou shalt say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 #b3e4 ,if so be they at least will hear1 and if so be they will forbear1 for they are a provoking house3 and they shall know that there hath been a prophet in the midst of them4 #b3f4 ,and thou1 ,o son of man1 fear not1 neither be thou afraid of their words3 for thou art among unbelievers and destroyers1 and thou dwellest with scorpions4 ,fear not their words1 neither be thou dismayed at their looks3 for they are a provoking house4 #b3g4 ,and thou shalt speak my words to them1 if perhaps they will hear1 and forbear3 for they provoke me to anger4 #b3h4 ,but thou1 ,o son of man1 hear all that ,i say to thee3 and do not thou provoke me1 as that house provoketh me3 open thy mouth1 and eat what ,i give thee4 #b3i4 ,and ,i looked1 and behold1 a hand was sent to me1 wherein was a book rolled up3 and he spread it before me1 and it was written within and without3 and there were written in it lamentations1 and canticles1 and woe4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #c ,the prophet eats the book1 and receives further instructions3 the office of a watchman4 #c3a4 ,and he said to me3 ,son of man1 eat all that thou shalt find3 eat this book1 and go speak to the children of ,israel4 ,eat this book1 and go speak to the children of ,israel444 ,by this eating of the book was signified the diligent attention and affection with which we are to receive1 and embrace the word of ,god2 and to let it1 as it were1 sink into our interior by devout meditation4 #c3b4 ,and ,i opened my mouth1 and he caused me to eat that book3 #c3c4 ,and he said to me3 ,son of man1 thy belly shall eat1 and thy bowels shall be filled with this book1 which ,i give thee1 and ,i did eat it3 and it was sweet as honey in my mouth4 #c3d4 ,and he said to me3 ,son of man1 go to the house of ,israel1 and thou shalt speak my words to them4 #c3e4 ,for thou art not sent to a people of a profound speech1 and of an unknown tongue1 but to the house of ,israel3 #c3f4 ,nor to many nations of a strange speech1 and of an unknown tongue1 whose words thou canst not understand3 and if thou wert sent to them1 they would hearken to thee4 #c3g4 ,but the house of ,israel will not hearken to thee3 because they will not hearken to me3 for all the house of ,israel are of a hard forehead and an obstinate heart4 #c3h4 ,behold ,i have made thy face stronger than their faces3 and thy forehead harder than their foreheads4 #c3i4 ,i have made thy face like an adamant and like flint3 fear them not1 neither be thou dismayed at their presence3 for they are a provoking house4 #c3aj4 ,and he said to me3 ,son of man1 receive in thy heart1 and hear with thy ears1 all the words that ,i speak to thee3 #c3aa4 ,and go get thee in to them of the captivity1 to the children of thy people1 and thou shalt speak to them1 and shalt say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord3 ,if so be they will hear1 and will forbear4 #c3ab4 ,and the spirit took me up1 and ,i heard behind me the voice of a great commotion1 saying3 ,blessed be the glory of the ,lord1 from his place4 #c3ac4 ,the noise of the wings of the living creatures striking one against another1 and the noise of the wheels following the living creatures1 and the noise of a great commotion4 #c3ad4 ,the spirit also lifted me1 and took me up3 and ,i went away in bitterness in the indignation of my spirit3 for the hand of the ,lord was with me1 strengthening me4 #c3ae4 ,and ,i came to them of the captivity1 to the heap of new corn1 to them that dwelt by the river ,chobar1 and ,i sat where they sat3 and ,i remained there seven days mourning in the midst of them4 ,the heap of new corn444 ,it was the name of a place3 in ,hebrew1 tel abib4 #c3af4 ,and at the end of seven days the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #c3ag4 ,son of man1 ,i have made thee a watchman to the house of ,israel3 and thou shalt hear the word out of my mouth1 and shalt tell it them from me4 #c3ah4 ,if1 when ,i say to the wicked1 ,thou shalt surely die3 thou declare it not to him1 nor speak to him1 that he may be converted from his wicked way1 and live3 the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity1 but ,i will require his blood at thy hand4 #c3ai4 ,but if thou give warning to the wicked1 and he be not converted from his wickedness1 and from his evil way3 he indeed shall die in his iniquity1 but thou hast delivered thy soul4 #c3bj4 ,moreover if the just man shall turn away from his justice1 and shall commit iniquity3 ,i will lay a stumblingblock before him1 he shall die1 because thou hast not given him warning3 he shall die in his sin1 and his justices which he hath done1 shall not be remembered3 but ,i will require his blood at thy hand4 #c3ba4 ,but if thou warn the just man1 that the just may not sin1 and he doth not sin3 living he shall live1 because thou hast warned him1 and thou hast delivered thy soul4 #c3bb4 ,and the hand of the ,lord was upon me1 and he said to me3 ,rise and go forth into the plain1 and there ,i will speak to thee4 #c3bc4 ,and ,i rose up1 and went forth into the plain3 and behold the glory of the ,lord stood there1 like the glory which ,i saw by the river ,chobar3 and ,i fell upon my face4 #c3bd4 ,and the spirit entered into me1 and set me upon my feet3 and he spoke to me1 and said to me3 ,go in2 and shut thyself up in the midst of thy house4 #c3be4 ,and thou1 ,o son of man1 behold they shall put bands upon thee1 and they shall bind thee with them3 and thou shalt not go forth from the midst of them4 #c3bf4 ,and ,i will make thy tongue stick fast to the roof of thy mouth1 and thou shalt be dumb1 and not as a man that reproveth3 because they are a provoking house4 #c3bg4 ,but when ,i shall speak to thee1 ,i will open thy mouth1 and thou shalt say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,he that heareth1 let him hear3 and he that forbeareth1 let him forbear3 for they are a provoking house4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #d ,a prophetic description of the siege of ,jerusalem1 and the famine that shall reign there4 #d3a4 ,and thou1 ,o son of man1 take thee a tile1 and lay it before thee3 and draw upon it the plan of the city of ,jerusalem4 #d3b4 ,and lay siege against it1 and build forts1 and cast up a mount1 and set a camp against it1 and place battering rams round about it4 #d3c4 ,and take unto thee an iron pan1 and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city3 and set thy face resolutely against it1 and it shall be besieged1 and thou shalt lay siege against it3 it is a sign to the house of ,israel4 #d3d4 ,and thou shalt sleep upon thy left side1 and shalt lay the iniquities of the house of ,israel upon it1 according to the number of the days that thou shalt sleep upon it1 and thou shalt take upon thee their iniquity4 #d3e4 ,and ,i have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity1 according to the number of the days three hundred and ninety days3 and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of ,israel4 #d3f4 ,and when thou hast accomplished this1 thou shalt sleep again upon thy right side1 and thou shalt take upon thee the iniquity of the house of ,juda forty days3 a day for a year1 yea1 a day for a year ,i have appointed to thee4 #d3g4 ,and thou shalt turn thy face to the siege of ,jerusalem and thy arm shall be stretched out3 and thou shalt prophesy against it4 #d3h4 ,behold ,i have encompassed thee with bands3 and thou shalt not turn thyself from one side to the other1 till thou hast ended the days of thy siege4 #d3i4 ,and take to thee wheat and barley1 and beans1 and lentils1 and millet1 and fitches1 and put them in one vessel1 and make thee bread thereof according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side3 three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof4 #d3aj4 ,and thy meat that thou shalt eat1 shall be in weight twenty staters a day3 from time to time thou shalt eat it4 #d3aa4 ,and thou shalt drink water by measure1 the sixth part of a hin3 from time to time thou shalt drink it1 ,hin444 ,that is1 a measure of liquids containing about ten pints4 #d3ab4 ,and thou shalt eat it as barley bread baked under the ashes3 and thou shalt cover it1 in their sight1 with the dung that cometh out of a man4 #d3ac4 ,and the ,lord said3 ,so shall the children of ,israel eat their bread all filthy among the nations whither ,i will cast them out4 #d3ad4 ,and ,i said3 ,ah1 ah1 ah1 ,o ,lord ,god1 behold my soul hath not been defiled1 and from my infancy even till now1 ,i have not eaten any thing that died of itself1 or was torn by beasts1 and no unclean flesh hath entered into my mouth4 #d3ae4 ,and he said to me3 ,behold ,i have given thee neat's dung for man's dung1 and thou shalt make thy bread therewith4 #d3af4 ,and he said to me3 ,son of man3 ,behold1 ,i will break in pieces the staff of bread in ,jerusalem3 and they shall eat bread by weight1 and with care3 and they shall drink water by measure1 and in distress4 #d3ag4 ,so that when bread and water fail1 every man may fall against his brother1 and they may pine away in their iniquities4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #e ,the judgments of ,god upon the ,jews are foreshewn under the type of the prophet's hair4 #e3a4 ,and thou1 son of man1 take thee a sharp knife that shaveth the hair3 the fulfilling of the days of the siege3 and thou shalt take a third part1 and cut it in pieces with the knife all round about3 and the other third part thou shalt scatter in the wind1 and ,i will draw out the sword after them4 #e3c4 ,and thou shalt take thereof a small number3 and shalt bind them in the skirt of thy cloak4 #e3d4 ,and thou shalt take of them again1 and shalt cast them in the midst of the fire1 and shalt burn them with fire3 and out of it shall come forth a fire into all the house of ,israel4 #e3e4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,this is ,jerusalem1 ,i have set her in the midst of the nations1 and the countries round about her4 #e3f4 ,and she hath despised my judgments1 so as to be more wicked than the ,gentiles2 and my commandments1 more than the countries that are round about her3 for they have cast off my judgments1 and have not walked in my commandments4 #e3g4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because you have surpassed the ,gentiles that are round about you1 and have not walked in my commandments1 and have not kept my judgments1 and have not done according to the judgments of the nations that are round about you3 #e3h4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i come against thee1 and ,i myself will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the ,gentiles4 #e3i4 ,and ,i will do in thee that which ,i have not done3 and the like to thee1 and ,i will scatter thy whole remnant into every wind4 #e3aa4 ,therefore as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because thou hast violated my sanctuary with all thy offences1 and with all thy ,and they that are saved of you shall remember me amongst the nations1 to which they are carried captives3 because ,i have broken their heart that was faithless1 and revolted from me3 and their eyes that went a fornicating after their idols3 and they shall be displeased with themselves because of the evils which they have committed in all their abominations4 #f3aj4 ,and they shall know that ,i the ,lord have not spoken in vain that ,i would do this evil to them4 #f3aa4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,strike with thy hand and stamp with thy foot1 and say3 ,alas1 for all the abominations of the evils of the house of ,israel3 for they shall fall by the sword1 by the famine1 and by the pestilence4 #f3ab4 ,he that is far off shall die of the pestilence3 and he that is near1 shall fall by the and ,i will judge thee according to thy ways3 and ,i will set all thy abominations against thee4 #g3d4 ,and my eye shall not spare thee1 and ,i will shew thee no pity3 but ,i will lay thy ways upon #g3ag4 ,all hands shall be made feeble1 and all knees shall run with water4 #g3ah4 ,and they shall gird themselves with haircloth1 and fear shall cover them and shame shall be upon every face1 and mighty to cease1 and they shall possess their sanctuary4 #g3be4 ,when distress cometh upon them1 they will seek for peace and there shall be none4 #g3bf4 ,trouble shall come upon trouble1 and rumour upon rumour1 and they shall seek a vision of the prophet1 and the law shall perish from the priest1 and counsel from the ancients4 #g3bg4 ,the king shall mourn1 and the prince shall be clothed with sorrow1 and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled4 ,i will do to them according to their way1 and will judge them according to their judgments3 and they shall know that ,i am the the sixth month1 in the fifth day of the month1 as ,i sat in my house1 and the ancients of ,juda sat before me1 that the hand of the ,lord ,god fell there upon me4 #h3b4 ,and ,i saw1 and behold a likeness as the appearance of fire3 from the appearance of his loins1 and downward1 fire3 and from his loins1 and upward1 as the appearance of brightness1 as the appearance of amber4 #h3c4 ,and the likeness of a hand was put forth and took me by a lock of my head3 and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven1 and brought me in the vision of ,god into ,jerusalem1 near the inner gate1 that looked toward the north1 where was set the idol of jealousy to provoke to jealousy4 #h3d4 ,and behold the glory of the ,god of ,israel was there1 according to the vision which ,i had seen in the plain4 #h3e4 ,and he said to me3 ,son of man1 lift up thy eyes towards the way of the north1 and ,i lifted up my eyes towards the way of the north3 and behold on the north side of the gate of the altar the idol of jealousy in the very entry4 #h3f4 ,and he said to me3 ,son of man1 dost thou see1 thinkest thou1 what these are doing1 the great abominations that the house of ,israel committeth here1 that ,i should depart far off from my sanctuary8 and turn thee yet again and thou shalt see greater abominations4 #h3g4 ,and he brought me in to the door of the court3 and ,i saw1 and behold a hole in the wall4 #h3h4 ,and he said to me3 ,son of man1 dig in the wall1 and when ,i had digged in the wall1 behold a door4 #h3i4 ,and he said to me3 ,go in1 and see the wicked abominations which they commit here4 #h3aj4 ,and ,i went in and saw1 and behold every form of creeping things1 and of living creatures1 the abominations1 and all the idols of the house of ,israel1 were painted on the censer in his hand3 and a cloud of smoke went up from the incense4 #h3ab4 ,and he said to me3 ,surely thou seest1 ,o son of man1 what the ancients of the house of ,israel do in the dark1 every one in private in his chamber3 for they say3 ,the ,lord seeth us not1 the ,lord hath forsaken the earth4 #h3ac4 ,and he said to me3 ,if thou turn thee again1 thou shalt see greater abominations which these commit4 #h3ad4 ,and he brought me in by the door of the gate of the ,lord's house1 which looked to the north3 and behold women sat there mourning for ,adonis4 ,adonis444 ,the favourite of ,venus1 slain by a wild boar1 as feigned by the heathen poets1 and which being here represented by an idol1 is lamented by the female worshippers of that goddess4 ,in the ,hebrew1 the name is ,tammuz4 #h3ae4 ,and he said to me3 ,surely thou hast seen1 ,o son of man3 but turn thee again1 thou shalt see greater abominations than these4 #h3af4 ,and he brought me into the inner court of the house of the ,lord3 and behold at the door of the temple of the ,lord1 between the porch and the altar1 were about five and twenty men having their backs towards the temple of the ,lord1 in their faces to the east3 and they adored towards the rising of the sun4 #h3ag4 ,and he said to me3 ,surely thou hast seen1 ,o son of man3 is this a light thing to the house of ,juda1 that they should commit these abominations which they have committed here3 because they have filled the land with iniquity1 and have turned to provoke me to anger8 and behold they put a branch to their nose4 #h3ah4 ,therefore ,i also will deal with them in my wrath3 my eye shall not spare them1 neither will ,i shew mercy3 and when they shall cry to my ears with a loud voice1 ,i will not hear them4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #i ,all are ordered to be destroyed that are not marked in their foreheads4 ,god will not be entreated for them4 #i3a4 ,and he cried in my ears with a loud voice1 saying3 ,the visitations of the city are at hand1 and every one hath a destroying weapon in his hand4 #i3b4 ,and behold six men came from the way of the upper gate1 which looketh to the north3 and each one had his weapon of destruction in his hand3 and there was one man in the midst of them clothed with linen1 with a writer's inkhorn at his reins3 and they went in1 and stood by the brazen altar4 #i3c4 ,and the glory of the ,lord of ,israel went up from the cherub1 upon which he was1 to the threshold of the house3 and he called to the man that was clothed with linen1 and had a writer's inkhorn at his loins4 #i3d4 ,and the ,lord said to him3 ,go through the midst of the city1 through the midst of ,jerusalem3 and mark ,thau upon the foreheads of the men that sigh1 and mourn for all the abominations that are committed in the midst thereof4 ,mark ,thau444 ,thau1 or ,tau1 is the last letter in the ,hebrew alphabet1 and signifies a sign1 or a mark2 which is the reason why some translators render this place set a mark1 or mark a mark without specifying what this mark was4 ,but ,st4 ,jerome1 and other interpreters1 conclude it was the form of the letter ,thau1 which in the ancient ,hebrew character1 was the form of a cross4 #i3e4 ,and to the others he said in my hearing3 ,go ye after him through the city1 and strike3 let not your eyes spare1 nor be ye moved with pity4 #i3f4 ,utterly destroy old and young1 maidens1 children and women3 but upon whomsoever you shall see ,thau1 kill him not1 and begin ye at my sanctuary4 ,so they began at the ancient men who were before the house4 #i3g4 ,and he said to them3 ,defile the house1 and fill the courts with the slain3 go ye forth4 ,and they went forth1 and slew them that were in the city4 #i3h4 ,and the slaughter being ended ,i was left2 and ,i fell upon my face1 and crying1 ,i said3 ,alas1 alas1 alas1 ,o ,lord ,god1 wilt thou then destroy all the remnant of ,israel1 by pouring out thy fury upon ,jerusalem8 #i3i4 ,and he said to me3 ,the iniquity of the house of ,israel1 and of ,juda1 is exceeding great1 and the land is filled with blood1 and the city is filled with perverseness3 for they have said3 ,the ,lord hath forsaken the earth1 and the ,lord seeth not4 #i3aj4 ,therefore neither shall my eye spare1 nor will ,i have pity3 ,i will requite their way upon their head4 #i3aa4 ,and behold the man that was clothed with linen1 that had the inkhorn at his back1 returned the word1 saying3 ,i have done as thou hast commanded me4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #aj ,fire is taken from the midst of the wheels under the cherubims1 and scattered over the city4 ,a description of the cherubims4 #aj3a4 ,and ,i saw and behold in the firmament that was over the heads of the cherubims1 there appeared over them as it were the sapphire stone1 as the appearance of the likeness of a throne4 #aj3b4 ,and he spoke to the man1 that was clothed with linen1 and said3 ,go in between the wheels that are under the cherubims and fill thy hand with the coals of fire that are between the cherubims1 and pour them out upon the city4 ,and he went in1 in my sight3 #aj3c4 ,and the cherubims stood on the right side of the house1 when the man went in1 and a cloud filled the inner court4 #aj3d4 ,and the glory of the ,lord was lifted up from above the cherub to the threshold of the house3 and the house was filled with the cloud1 and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the ,lord4 #aj3e4 ,and the sound of the wings of the cherubims was heard even to the outward court as the voice of ,god ,almighty speaking4 #aj3f4 ,and when he had commanded the man that was clothed with linen1 saying3 ,take fire from the midst of the wheels that are between the cherubims3 he went in and stood beside the wheel4 #aj3g4 ,and one cherub stretched out his arm from the midst of the cherubims to the fire that was between the cherubims3 and he took1 and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen3 who took it and went forth4 #aj3h4 ,and there appeared in the cherubims the likeness of a man's hand under their wings4 #aj3i4 ,and ,i saw1 and behold there were four wheels by the cherubims3 one wheel by one cherub1 and another wheel by another cherub3 and the appearance of the wheels was to the sight like the chrysolite stone3 #aj3aj4 ,and as to their appearance1 all four were alike3 as if a wheel were in the midst of a wheel4 #aj3aa4 ,and when they went1 they went by four ways3 and they turned not when they went3 but to the place whither they first turned1 the rest also followed1 and did not turn back4 ,by four ways444 ,that is1 by any of the four ways1 forward1 backward1 to the right or to the left4 #aj3ab4 ,and their whole body1 and their necks1 and their hands1 and their wings1 and the circles were full of eyes1 round about the four wheels4 #aj3ac4 ,and these wheels he called voluble1 in my hearing4 ,voluble444 ,that is1 rolling wheels1 galgal4 #aj3ad4 ,and every one had four faces3 one face was the face of a cherub1 and the second face1 the face of a man3 and in the third was the face of a lion3 and in the fourth the face of an eagle4 #aj3ae4 ,and the cherubims were lifted up3 this is the living creature that ,i had seen by the river ,chobar4 #aj3af4 ,and when the cherubims went1 the wheels also went by them3 and when the cherubims lifted up their wings1 to mount up from the earth1 the wheels stayed not behind1 but were by them4 #aj3ag4 ,when they stood1 these stood3 and when they were lifted up1 these were lifted up3 for the spirit of life was in them4 #aj3ah4 ,and the glory of the ,lord went forth from the threshold of the temple3 and stood over the cherubims4 #aj3ai4 ,and the cherubims lifting up their wings1 were raised from the earth before me3 and as they went out1 the wheels also followed3 and it stood in the entry of the east gate of the house of the ,lord3 and the glory of the ,god of ,israel was over them4 #aj3bj4 ,this is the living creature1 which ,i saw under the ,god of ,israel by the river ,chobar3 and ,i understood that they were cherubims4 #aj3ba4 ,each one had four faces1 and each one had four wings3 and the likeness of a man's hand was under their wings4 #aj3bb4 ,and as to the likeness of their faces1 they were the same faces which ,i had seen by the river ,chobar1 and their looks1 and the impulse of every one to go straight forward4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #aa ,a prophecy against the presumptuous assurance of the great ones4 ,a remnant shall be saved1 and receive a new spirit1 and a new heart4 #aa3a4 ,and the spirit lifted me up1 and brought me into the east gate of the house of the ,lord1 which looketh towards the rising of the sun3 and behold in the entry of the gate five and twenty men3 and ,i saw in the midst of them ,jezonias the son of ,azur1 and ,pheltias the son of ,banaias1 princes of the people4 #aa3b4 ,and he said to me3 ,son of man1 these are the men that study iniquity1 and frame a wicked counsel in this city1 #aa3c4 ,saying3 ,were not houses lately built8 ,this city is the caldron1 and we the flesh4 ,were not houses lately built1 etc444 ,these men despised the predictions and threats of the prophets2 who declared to them from ,god1 that the city should be destroyed1 and the inhabitants carried into captivity3 and they made use of this kind of argument against the prophets1 that the city1 so far from being like to be destroyed1 had lately been augmented by the building of new houses2 from whence they further inferred1 by way of a proverb1 using the similitude of a cauldron1 out of which the flesh is not taken1 till it is thoroughly boiled1 and fit to be eaten1 that they should not be carried away out of their city1 but there end their days in peace4 #aa3d4 ,therefore prophesy against them1 prophesy1 thou son of man4 #aa3e4 ,and the spirit of the ,lord fell upon me1 and said to me3 ,speak3 ,thus saith the ,lord3 ,thus have you spoken1 ,o house of ,israel1 for ,i know the thoughts of your heart4 #aa3f4 ,you have killed a great many in this city1 and you have filled the streets thereof with the slain4 #aa3g4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,your slain1 whom you have laid in the midst thereof1 they are the flesh1 all this is the caldron3 and ,i will bring you forth out of the midst thereof4 #aa3h4 ,you have feared the sword1 and ,i will bring the sword upon you1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #aa3i4 ,and ,i will cast you out of the midst thereof1 and ,i will deliver you into the hand of the enemies1 and ,i will execute judgments upon you4 #aa3aj4 ,you shall fall by the sword3 ,i will judge you in the borders of ,israel1 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 ,in the borders of ,israel444 ,they pretended that they should die in peace in ,jerusalem2 ,god tells them it should not be so2 but that they should be judged and condemned1 and fall by the sword in the borders of ,israel3 viz41 in ,reblatha in the land of ,emath1 where all their chief men were put to death by ,nabuchodonosor4 #d ,kings #be41 and ,jer4 #eb4aj1 #bg4 #aa3aa4 ,this shall not be as a caldron to you1 and you shall not be as flesh in the midst thereof3 ,i will judge you in the borders of ,israel4 #aa3ab4 ,and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord3 because you have not walked in my commandments1 and have not done my judgments1 but you have done according to the judgments of the nations that are round about you4 #aa3ac4 ,and it came to pass1 when ,i prophesied1 that ,pheltias the son of ,banaias died3 and ,i fell down upon my face1 and ,i cried with a loud voice3 and said3 ,alas1 alas1 alas1 ,o ,lord ,god3 wilt thou make an end of all the remnant of ,israel8 #aa3ad4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #aa3ae4 ,son of man1 thy brethren1 thy brethren1 thy kinsmen1 and all the house of ,israel1 all they to whom the inhabitants of ,jerusalem have said3 ,get ye far from the ,lord1 the land is given in possession to us4 ,thy brethren1 etc444 ,he speaks of them that had been carried away captives before2 who were despised by them that remained in ,jerusalem3 but as the prophet here declares to them from ,god1 should be in a more happy condition than they1 and after some time return from their captivity4 #aa3af4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because ,i have removed them far off among the ,gentiles1 and because ,i have scattered them among the countries3 ,i will be to them a little sanctuary in the countries whither they are come4 #aa3ag4 ,therefore speak to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,i will gather you from among the peoples1 and assemble you out of the countries wherein you are scattered1 and ,i will give you the land of ,israel4 #aa3ah4 ,and they shall go in thither1 and shall take away all the scandals1 and all the abominations thereof from thence4 #aa3ai4 ,and ,i will give them one heart1 and will put a new spirit in their bowels3 and ,i will take away the stony heart out of their flesh1 and will give them a heart of flesh3 #aa3bj4 ,that they may walk in my commandments1 and keep my judgments1 and do them3 and that they may be my people1 and ,i may be their ,god4 #aa3ba4 ,but as for them whose heart walketh after their scandals and abominations1 ,i will lay their way upon their head1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #aa3bb4 ,and the cherubims lifted up their wings1 and the wheels with them3 and the glory of the ,god of ,israel was over them4 #aa3bc4 ,and the glory of the ,lord went up from the midst of the city1 and stood over the mount that is on the east side of the city4 #aa3bd4 ,and the spirit lifted me up1 and brought me into ,chaldea1 to them of the captivity1 in vision1 by the spirit of ,god3 and the vision which ,i had seen was taken up from me4 #aa3be4 ,and ,i spoke to them of the captivity all the words of the ,lord1 which he had shewn me4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #ab ,the prophet forsheweth1 by signs1 the captivity of ,sedecias1 and the desolation of the people3 all which shall quickly come to pass4 #ab3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ab3b4 ,son of man1 thou dwellest in the midst of a provoking house3 who have eyes to see1 and see not3 and ears to hear1 and hear not3 for they are a provoking house4 #ab3c4 ,thou1 therefore1 ,o son of man1 prepare thee all necessaries for removing1 and remove by day into their sight3 and thou shalt remove out of thy place to another place in their sight1 if so be they will regard it3 for they are a provoking house4 #ab3d4 ,and thou shalt bring forth thy furniture as the furniture of one that is removing by day in their sight3 and thou shalt go forth in the evening in their presence1 as one goeth forth that removeth his dwelling4 #ab3e4 ,dig thee a way through the wall before their eyes3 and thou shalt go forth through it4 #ab3f4 ,in their sight thou shalt be carried out upon men's shoulders1 thou shalt be carried out in the dark3 thou shalt cover thy face1 and shalt not see the ground3 for ,i have set thee for a sign of things to come to the house of ,israel4 #ab3g4 ,i did therefore as he had commanded me3 ,i brought forth my goods by day1 as the goods of one that removeth3 and in the evening ,i digged through the wall with my hand1 and ,i went forth in the dark1 and was carried on men's shoulders in their sight4 #ab3h4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me in the morning1 saying3 #ab3i4 ,son of man1 hath not the house of ,israel1 the provoking house1 said to thee3 ,what art thou doing8 #ab3aj4 ,say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,this burden concerneth my prince that is in ,jerusalem1 and all the house of ,israel1 that are among them4 #ab3aa4 ,say3 ,i am a sign of things to come to you3 as ,i have done1 so shall it be done to them3 they shall be removed from their dwellings1 and go into captivity4 #ab3ab4 ,and the prince that is in the midst of them1 shall be carried on shoulders1 he shall go forth in the dark3 they shall dig through the wall to bring him out3 his face shall be covered1 that he may not see the ground with his eyes4 #ab3ac4 ,and ,i will spread my net over him1 and he shall be taken in my net3 and ,i will bring him into ,babylon1 into the land of the ,chaldeans1 and he shall not see it1 and there he shall die4 ,he shall not see it444 ,because his eyes shall be put out by ,nabuchodonosor4 #ab3ad4 ,and all that are about him1 his guards1 and his troops ,i will scatter into every wind3 and ,i will draw out the sword after them4 #ab3ae4 ,and they shall know that ,i am the ,lord1 when ,i shall have dispersed them among the nations1 and scattered them in the countries4 #ab3af4 ,and ,i will leave a few men of them from the sword1 and from the famine1 and from the pestilence3 that they may declare all their wicked deeds among the nations whither they shall go3 and they shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 #ab3ag4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ab3ah4 ,son of man1 eat thy bread in trouble and drink thy water in hurry and sorrow4 #ab3ai4 ,and say to the people of the land3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god to them that dwell in ,jerusalem in the land of ,israel3 ,they shall eat their bread in care1 and drink their water in desolation3 that the land may become desolate from the multitude that is therein1 for the iniquity of all that dwell therein4 #ab3bj4 ,and the cities that are now inhabited shall be laid waste1 and the land shall be desolate3 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 #ab3ba4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ab3bb4 ,son of man1 what is this proverb that you have in the land of ,israel8 saying3 ,the days shall be prolonged1 and every vision shall fail4 #ab3bc4 ,say to them therefore3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,i will make this proverb to cease1 neither shall it be any more a common saying in ,israel3 and tell them that the days are at hand1 and the effect of every vision4 #ab3bd4 ,for there shall be no more any vain visions1 nor doubtful divination in the midst of the children of ,israel4 #ab3be4 ,for ,i the ,lord will speak3 and what word soever ,i shall speak1 it shall come to pass1 and shall not be prolonged any more3 but in your days1 ye provoking house1 ,i will speak the word1 and will do it1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #ab3bf4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ab3bg4 ,son of man1 behold the house of ,israel1 they that say3 ,the visions that this man seeth1 is for many days to come3 and this man prophesieth of times afar off4 #ab3bh4 ,therefore say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 not one word of mine shall be prolonged any more3 the word that ,i shall speak shall be accomplished1 saith the ,lord ,god4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #ac ,god declares against false prophets and prophetesses1 that deceive the people with lies4 #ac3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ac3b4 ,son of man1 prophesy thou against the prophets of ,israel that prophesy3 and thou shalt say to them that prophesy out of their own heart3 ,hear ye the word of the ,lord3 #ac3c4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,woe to the foolish prophets that follow their own spirit1 and see nothing4 #ac3d4 ,thy prophets1 ,o ,israel1 were like foxes in the deserts4 #ac3e4 ,you have not gone up to face the enemy1 nor have you set up a wall for the house of ,israel1 to stand in battle in the day of the ,lord4 #ac3f4 ,they see vain things1 and they foretell lies1 saying3 ,the ,lord saith3 whereas the ,lord hath not sent them3 and they have persisted to confirm what they have said4 #ac3g4 ,have you not seen a vain vision and spoken a lying divination3 and you say3 ,the ,lord saith3 whereas ,i have not spoken4 #ac3h4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because you have spoken vain things1 and have seen lies3 therefore behold ,i come against you1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #ac3i4 ,and my hand shall be upon the prophets that see vain things1 and that divine lies3 they shall not be in the council of my people1 nor shall they be written in the writing of the house of ,israel1 neither shall they enter into the land of ,israel1 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord ,god4 #ac3aj4 ,because they have deceived my people1 saying3 ,peace1 and there is no peace3 and the people built up a wall1 and they daubed it with dirt without straw4 #ac3aa4 ,say to them that daub without tempering1 that it shall fall3 for there shall be an overflowing shower1 and ,i will cause great hailstones to fall violently from above1 and a stormy wind to throw it down4 #ac3ab4 ,behold1 when the wall is fallen3 shall it not be said to you3 ,where is the daubing wherewith you have daubed it8 #ac3ac4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,lo1 ,i will cause a stormy wind to break forth in my indignation1 and there shall be an overflowing shower in my anger3 and great hailstones in my wrath to consume4 #ac3ad4 ,and ,i will break down the wall that you have daubed with untempered mortar3 and ,i will make it even with the ground1 and the foundation thereof shall be laid bare3 and it shall fall1 and shall be consumed in the midst thereof3 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 #ac3ae4 ,and ,i will accomplish my wrath upon the wall1 and upon them that daub it without tempering the mortar1 and ,i will say to you3 ,the wall is no more1 and they that daub it are no more4 #ac3af4 ,even the prophets of ,israel that prophesy to ,jerusalem1 and that see visions of peace for her3 and there is no peace1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #ac3ag4 ,and thou1 son of man1 set thy face against the daughters of thy people that prophesy out of their own heart3 and do thou prophesy against them1 #ac3ah4 ,and say3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,woe to them that sew cushions under every elbow3 and make pillows for the heads of persons of every age to catch souls3 and when they caught the souls of my people1 they gave life to their souls4 ,sew cushions1 etc444 ,viz41 by making people easy in their sins1 and promising them impunity4-,ibid4 ,they gave life to their souls444 ,that is1 they flattered them with promises of life1 peace1 and security4 #ac3ai4 ,and they violated me among my people1 for a handful of barley1 and a piece of bread1 to kill souls which should not die1 and to save souls alive which should not live1 telling lies to my people that believe lies4 ,violated me444 ,that is1 dishonoured and discredited me4 ,ibid4 ,to kill souls1 etc444 ,that is1 to sentence souls to death1 which are not to die2 and to promise life to them who are not to live4 #ac3bj4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i declare against your cushions1 wherewith you catch flying souls3 and ,i will tear them off from your arms3 and ,i will let go the soul that you catch1 the souls that should fly4 #ac3ba4 ,and ,i will tear your pillows1 and will deliver my people out of your hand1 neither shall they be any more in your hands to be a prey3 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 #ac3bb4 ,because with lies you have made the heart of the just to mourn1 whom ,i have not made sorrowful3 and have strengthened the hands of the wicked1 that he should not return from his evil way1 and live4 #ac3bc4 ,therefore you shall not see vain things1 nor divine divinations any more1 and ,i will deliver my people out of your hand3 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #ad ,god suffers the wicked to be deceived in punishment of their wickedness4 ,the evils that shall come upon them for their sins3 for which they shall not be delivered by the prayers of ,noe1 ,daniel1 and ,job4 ,but a remnant shall be preserved4 #ad3a4 ,and some of the ancients of ,israel came to me1 and sat before me4 #ad3b4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ad3c4 ,son of man1 these men have placed their uncleannesses in their hearts1 and have set up before their face the stumblingblock of their iniquity3 and shall ,i answer when they inquire of me8 ,uncleanness444 ,that is1 their filthy idols1 upon which they have set their hearts3 and which are a stumblingblock to their souls4 #ad3d4 ,therefore speak to them1 and say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,man1 man of the house of ,israel that shall place his uncleannesses in his heart1 and set up the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face1 and shall come to the prophet inquiring of me by him3 ,i the ,lord will answer him according to the multitude of his uncleannesses3 ,man1 man444 ,that is1 every man1 an ,hebrew expression4 #ad3e4 ,that the house of ,israel may be caught in their own heart1 with which they have departed from me through all their idols4 #ad3f4 ,therefore say to the house of ,israel3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,be converted1 and depart from your idols1 and turn away your faces from all your abominations4 #ad3g4 ,for every man of the house of ,israel1 and every stranger among the proselytes in ,israel1 if he separate himself from me1 and place his idols in his heart1 and set the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face1 and come to the prophet to inquire of me by him3 ,i the ,lord will answer him by myself4 #ad3h4 ,and ,i will set my face against that man1 and will make him an example1 and a proverb1 and will cut him off from the midst of my people3 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 #ad3i4 ,and when the prophet shall err1 and speak a word3 ,i the ,lord have deceived that prophet3 and ,i will stretch forth my hand upon him1 and will cut him off from the midst of my people ,israel4 ,the prophet shall err1 etc444 ,he speaks of false prophets1 answering out of their own heads and according to their own corrupt inclinations4 ,ibid4 ,i have deceived that prophet444 ,god ,almighty deceives false prophets1 partly by withdrawing his light from them2 and abandoning them to their own corrupt inclinations1 which push them on to prophesy such things as are agreeable to those who consult them3 and partly by disappointing them1 and causing all thing to happen contrary to what they have said4 #ad3aj4 ,and they shall bear their iniquity3 according to the iniquity of him that inquireth1 so shall the iniquity of the prophet be4 #ad3aa4 ,that the house of ,israel may go no more astray from me1 nor be polluted with all their transgressions3 but may be my people1 and ,i may be their ,god1 saith the ,lord of hosts4 #ad3ab4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ad3ac4 ,son of man1 when a land shall sin against me1 so as to transgress grievously1 ,i will stretch forth my hand upon it1 and will break the staff of the bread thereof3 and ,i will send famine upon it1 and will destroy man and beast out of it4 #ad3ad4 ,and if these three men1 ,noe1 ,daniel1 and ,job1 shall be in it3 they shall deliver their own souls by their justice1 saith the ,lord of hosts4 #ad3ae4 ,and if ,i shall bring mischievous beasts also upon the land to waste it1 and it be desolate1 so that there is none that can pass because of the beasts3 #ad3af4 ,if these three men shall be in it1 as ,i live1 saith the ,lord1 they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters3 but they only shall be delivered1 and the land shall be made desolate4 #ad3ag4 ,or if ,i bring the sword upon that land1 and say to the sword3 ,pass through the land3 and ,i destroy man and beast out of it3 #ad3ah4 ,and these three men be in the midst thereof3 as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god1 they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters1 but they themselves alone shall be delivered4 #ad3ai4 ,or if ,i also send the pestilence upon that land1 and pour out my indignation upon it in blood1 to cut off from it man and beast3 #ad3bj4 ,and ,noe1 and ,daniel1 and ,job be in the midst thereof3 as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god1 they shall deliver neither son nor daughter3 but they shall only deliver their own souls by their justice4 #ad3ba4 ,for thus saith the ,lord3 ,although ,i shall send in upon ,jerusalem my four grievous judgments1 the sword1 and the famine1 and the mischievous beasts1 and the pestilence1 to destroy out of it man and beast1 #ad3bb4 ,yet there shall be left in it some that shall be saved1 who shall bring away their sons and daughters3 behold they shall come among you1 and you shall see their way1 and their doings3 and you shall be comforted concerning the evil that ,i have brought upon ,jerusalem1 in all things that ,i have brought upon it4 #ad3bc4 ,and they shall comfort you1 when you shall see their ways1 and their doings3 and you shall know that ,i have not done without cause all that ,i have done in it1 saith the ,lord ,god4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #ae ,as a vine cut down is fit for nothing but the fire2 so it shall be with ,jerusalem1 for her sins4 #ae3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ae3b4 ,son of man1 what shall be made of the wood of the vine1 out of all the trees of the woods that are among the trees of the forests8 #ae3c4 ,shall wood be taken of it1 to do any work1 or shall a pin be made of it for any vessel to hang thereon8 #ae3d4 ,behold it is cast into the fire for fuel3 the fire hath consumed both ends thereof1 and the midst thereof is reduced to ashes3 shall it be useful for any work8 #ae3e4 ,even when it was whole it was not fit for work3 how much less1 when the fire hath devoured and consumed it1 shall any work be made of it8 #ae3f4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,as the vine tree among the trees of the forests which ,i have given to the fire to be consumed1 so will ,i deliver up the inhabitants of ,jerusalem4 #ae3g4 ,and ,i will set my face against them3 they shall go out from fire1 and fire shall consume them3 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord1 when ,i shall have set my face against them4 #ae3h4 ,and ,i shall have made their land a wilderness1 and desolate1 because they have been transgressors1 saith the ,lord ,god4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #af ,under the figure of an unfaithful wife1 ,god upbraids ,jerusalem with her ingratitude and manifold disloyalties3 but promiseth mercy by a new covenant4 #af3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #af3b4 ,son of man1 make known to ,jerusalem her abominations4 ,make known to ,jerusalem444 ,that is1 by letters1 for the prophet was then in ,babylon4 #af3c4 ,and thou shalt say3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god to ,jerusalem3 ,thy root1 and thy nativity is of the land of ,chanaan1 thy father was an ,amorrhite1 and thy mother a ,cethite4 #af3d4 ,and when thou wast born1 in the day of thy nativity thy navel was not cut1 neither wast thou washed with water for thy health1 nor salted with salt1 nor swaddled with clouts4 #af3e4 ,no eye had pity on thee to do any of these things for thee1 out of compassion to thee3 but thou wast cast out upon the face of the earth in the abjection of thy soul1 in the day that thou wast born4 #af3f4 ,and passing by thee1 ,i saw that thou wast trodden under foot in thy own blood3 and ,i said to thee when thou wast in thy blood3 ,live3 ,i have said to thee3 ,live in thy blood4 #af3g4 ,i caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field3 and thou didst increase and grow great1 and advancedst1 and camest to woman's ornament3 thy breasts were fashioned1 and thy hair grew3 and thou was naked1 and full of confusion4 #af3h4 ,and ,i passed by thee1 and saw thee3 and behold thy time was the time of lovers3 and ,i spread my garment over thee1 and covered thy ignominy and ,i swore to thee1 and ,i entered into a covenant with thee1 saith the ,lord ,god3 and thou becamest mine4 #af3i4 ,and ,i washed thee with water1 and cleansed away thy blood from thee3 and ,i anointed thee with oil4 #af3aj4 ,and ,i clothed thee with embroidery1 and shod thee with violet coloured shoes3 and ,i girded thee about with fine linen1 and clothed thee with fine garments4 #af3aa4 ,i decked thee also with ornaments1 and put bracelets on thy hands1 and a chain about thy neck4 ,i decked thee also with ornaments1 etc444 ,that is1 with spiritual benefits1 giving you a law with sacrifices1 sacraments1 and other holy rites4 #af3ab4 ,and ,i put a jewel upon thy forehead and earrings in thy ears1 and a beautiful crown upon thy head4 #af3ac4 ,and thou wast adorned with gold1 and silver1 and wast clothed with fine linen1 and embroidered work1 and many colours3 thou didst eat fine flour1 and honey1 and oil1 and wast made exceeding beautiful3 and wast advanced to be a queen4 #af3ad4 ,and thy renown went forth among the nations for thy beauty3 for thou wast perfect through my beauty1 which ,i had put upon thee1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #af3ae4 ,but trusting in thy beauty1 thou playedst the harlot because of thy renown1 and thou hast prostituted thyself to every passenger1 to be his4 #af3af4 ,and taking of thy garments thou hast made thee high places sewed together on each side3 and hast played the harlot upon them1 as hath not been done before1 nor shall be hereafter4 #af3ag4 ,and thou tookest thy beautiful vessels1 of my gold1 and my silver1 which ,i gave thee1 and thou madest thee images of men1 and hast committed fornication with them4 #af3ah4 ,and thou tookest thy garments of divers colours1 and coveredst them3 and settest my oil and my sweet incense before them4 #af3ai4 ,and my bread which ,i gave thee1 the fine flour1 and oil1 and honey1 wherewith ,i fed thee1 thou hast set before them for a sweet odour2 and it was done1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #af3bj4 ,and thou hast taken thy sons1 and thy daughters1 whom thou hast borne to me3 and hast sacrificed the same to them to be devoured4 ,is thy fornication small8 #af3ba4 ,thou hast sacrificed and given my children to them1 consecrating them by fire4 ,thou hast sacrificed1 etc444 ,as there is nothing more base and abominable than the crimes mentioned throughout this chapter2 so the infidelities of the ,israelites in forsaking ,god1 and sacrificing even their children to idols1 are strongly figured by these allegories4 #af3bb4 ,and after all thy abominations1 and fornications1 thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth1 when thou wast naked1 and full of confusion1 trodden under foot in thy own blood4 #af3bc4 ,and it came to pass after all thy wickedness 7woe1 woe to thee1 saith the ,lord ,god7 #af3bd4 ,that thou didst also build thee a common stew1 and madest thee a brothel house in every street4 #af3be4 ,at every head of the way thou hast set up a sign of thy prostitution3 and hast made thy beauty to be abominable3 and hast prostituted thyself to every one that passed by1 and hast multiplied thy fornications4 #af3bf4 ,and thou hast committed fornication with the ,egyptians thy neighbours1 men of large bodies1 and hast multiplied thy fornications to provoke me4 #af3bg4 ,behold1 ,i will stretch out my hand upon thee1 and will take away thy justification3 and ,i will deliver thee up to the will of the daughters of the ,philistines that hate thee1 that are ashamed of thy wicked way4 #af3bh4 ,thou hast also committed fornication with the ,assyrians1 because thou wast not yet satisfied3 and after thou hadst played the harlot with them1 even so thou wast not contented4 #af3bi4 ,thou hast also multiplied thy fornications in the land of ,chanaan with the ,chaldeans3 and neither so wast thou satisfied4 #af3cj4 ,wherein shall ,i cleanse thy heart1 saith ,lord ,god3 seeing thou dost all these the works of a shameless prostitute8 #af3ca4 ,because thou hast built thy brothel house at the head of every way1 and thou hast made thy high place in every street3 and wast not as a harlot that by disdain enhanceth her price1 #af3cb4 ,but is an adulteress1 that bringeth in strangers over her husband4 #af3cc4 ,gifts are given to all harlots3 but thou hast given hire to all thy lovers1 and thou hast given them gifts to come to thee from every side1 to commit fornication with thee4 #af3cd4 ,and it hath happened in thee contrary to the custom of women in thy fornications1 and after thee there shall be no such fornication1 for in that thou gavest rewards1 and didst not take rewards1 the contrary hath been done in thee4 #af3ce4 ,therefore1 ,o harlot1 hear the word of the ,lord4 #af3cf4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because thy money hath been poured out1 and thy shame discovered through thy fornications with thy lovers1 and with the idols of thy abominations1 by the blood of thy children whom thou gavest them3 #af3cg4 ,behold1 ,i will gather together all thy lovers with whom thou hast taken pleasure1 and all whom thou hast loved1 with all whom thou hast hated3 and ,i will gather them together against thee on every side1 and will discover thy shame in their sight1 and they shall see all thy nakedness4 #af3ch4 ,and ,i will judge thee as adulteresses1 and they that shed blood are judged3 and ,i will give thee blood in fury and jealousy4 #af3ci4 ,and ,i will deliver thee into their hands1 and they shall destroy thy brothel house1 and throw down thy stews3 and they shall strip thee of thy garments1 and shall take away the vessels of thy beauty3 and leave thee naked1 and full of disgrace4 #af3dj4 ,and they shall bring upon thee a multitude1 and they shall stone thee with stones1 and shall slay thee with their swords4 #af3da4 ,and they shall burn thy houses with fire1 and shall execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women3 and thou shalt cease from fornication1 and shalt give no hire any more4 #af3db4 ,and my indignation shall rest in thee3 and my jealousy shall depart from thee1 and ,i will cease and be angry no more4 #af3dc4 ,because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth1 but hast provoked me in all these things3 wherefore ,i also have turned all thy ways upon thy head1 saith the ,lord ,god1 and ,i have not done according to thy wicked deeds in all thy abominations4 #af3dd4 ,behold every one that useth a common proverb1 shall use this against thee1 saying3 ,as the mother was1 so also is her daughter4 #af3de4 ,thou art thy mother's daughter1 that cast off her husband1 and her children3 and thou art the sister of thy sisters1 who cast off their husbands1 and their children3 your mother was a ,cethite1 and your father an ,amorrhite4 #af3df4 ,and thy elder sister is ,samaria1 she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand3 and thy younger sister that dwelleth at thy right hand is ,sodom1 and her daughters4 #af3dg4 ,but neither hast thou walked in their ways1 nor hast thou done a little less than they according to their wickednesses3 thou hast done almost more wicked things than they in all thy ways4 #af3dh4 ,as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god1 thy sister ,sodom herself1 and her daughters1 have not done as thou hast done1 and thy daughters4 #af3di4 ,behold this was the iniquity of ,sodom thy sister1 pride1 fulness of bread1 and abundance1 and the idleness of her1 and of her daughters3 and they did not put forth their hand to the needy1 and the poor4 ,this was the iniquity of ,sodom1 etc444 ,that is1 these were the steps by which the ,sodomites came to fall into those abominations for which they were destroyed4 ,for pride1 gluttony1 and idleness are the highroad to all kinds of lust2 especially when they are accompanied with a neglect of the works of mercy4 #af3ej4 ,and they were lifted up1 and committed abominations before me3 and ,i took them away as thou hast seen4 #af3ea4 ,and ,samaria committed not half thy sins3 but thou hast surpassed them with thy crimes1 and hast justified thy sisters by all thy abominations which thou hast done4 #af3eb4 ,therefore do thou also bear thy confusion1 thou that hast surpassed thy sisters with thy sins1 doing more wickedly than they3 for they are justified above thee1 therefore be thou also confounded1 and bear thy shame1 thou that hast justified thy sisters4 #af3ec4 ,and ,i will bring back and restore them by bringing back ,sodom1 with her daughters1 and by bringing back ,samaria1 and her daughters3 and ,i will bring those that return of thee in the midst of them4 ,i will bring back1 etc444 ,this relates to the conversion of the ,gentiles out of all nations1 and of many of the ,jews1 to the church of ,christ4 #af3ed4 ,that thou mayest bear thy shame1 and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done1 comforting them4 #af3ee4 ,and thy sister ,sodom and her daughters shall return to their ancient state3 and ,samaria and her daughters shall return to their ancient state3 and thou and thy daughters shall return to your ancient state4 ,ancient state444 ,that is1 to their former state of liberty1 and their ancient possessions4 ,in the spiritual sense1 to the true liberty1 and the happy inheritance of the children of ,god1 through faith in ,christ4 #af3ef4 ,and ,sodom thy sister was not heard of in thy mouth1 in the day of thy pride1 #af3eg4 ,before thy malice was laid open3 as it is at this time1 making thee a reproach of the daughters of ,syria1 and of all the daughters of ,palestine round about thee1 that encompass thee on all sides4 #af3eh4 ,thou hast borne thy wickedness1 and thy disgrace1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #af3ei4 ,for thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,i will deal with thee1 as thou hast despised the oath1 in breaking the covenant3 #af3fj4 ,and ,i will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth3 and ,i will establish with thee an everlasting covenant4 #af3fa4 ,and thou shalt remember thy ways1 and be ashamed3 when thou shalt receive thy sisters1 thy elder and thy younger3 and ,i will give them to thee for daughters1 but not by thy covenant4 #af3fb4 ,and ,i will establish my covenant with thee3 and thou shalt know that ,i am the ,lord1 #af3fc4 ,that thou mayest remember1 and be confounded1 and mayest no more open thy mouth because of thy confusion1 when ,i shall be pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done1 saith the ,lord ,god4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #ag ,the parable of the two eagles and the vine4 ,a promise of the cedar of ,christ and his church4 #ag3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ag3b4 ,son of man1 put forth a riddle1 and speak a parable to the house of ,israel1 #ag3c4 ,and say3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god2 ,a large eagle with great wings1 long-limbed1 full of feathers1 and of variety1 came to ,libanus1 and took away the marrow of the cedar4 ,a large eagle444 ,nabuchodonosor1 king of ,babylon4-,ibid4 ,came to ,libanus444 ,that is1 to ,jerusalem4-,ibid4 ,took away the marrow of the cedar444 ,king ,jechonias4 #ag3d4 ,he cropped off the top of the twigs thereof3 and carried it away into the land of ,chanaan1 and he set it in a city of merchants4 ,chanaan444 ,this name1 which signifies traffic1 is not taken here for ,palestine1 but for ,chaldea3 and the city of merchants here mentioned is ,babylon4 #ag3e4 ,and he took of the seed of the land1 and put it in the ground for seed1 that it might take a firm root over many waters3 he planted it on the surface of the earth4 ,of the seed of the land1 etc444 ,viz41 ,sedecias1 whom he made king4 #ag3f4 ,and it sprung up and grew into a spreading vine of low stature1 and the branches thereof looked towards him3 and the roots thereof were under him4 ,so it became a vine1 and grew into branches1 and shot forth sprigs4 ,towards him444 ,nabuchodonosor1 to whom ,sedecias swore allegiance4 #ag3g4 ,and there was another large eagle1 with great wings1 and many feathers3 and behold this vine1 bending as it were her roots towards him1 stretched forth her branches to him1 that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation4 ,another large eagle444 ,viz41 the king of ,egypt4 #ag3h4 ,it was planted in a good ground upon many waters1 that it might bring forth branches1 and bear fruit1 that it might become a large vine4 #ag3i4 ,say thou3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,shall it prosper then8 shall he not pull up the roots thereof1 and strip off its fruit1 and dry up all the branches it hath shot forth1 and make it wither3 and this without a strong arm1 or many people to pluck it up by the root8 #ag3aj4 ,behold1 it is planted3 shall it prosper then8 shall it not be dried up when the burning wind shall touch it1 and shall it not wither in the furrows where it grew8 #ag3aa4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ag3ab4 ,say to the provoking house3 ,know you not what these things mean8 ,tell them3 ,behold the king of ,babylon cometh to ,jerusalem3 and he shall take away the king and the princes thereof and carry them with him to ,babylon4 ,shall take away444 ,or1 hath taken away1 etc41 for all this was now done4 #ag3ac4 ,and he shall take one of the king's seed1 and make a covenant with him1 and take an oath of him4 ,yea1 and he shall take away the mighty men of the land1 #ag3ad4 ,that it may be a low kingdom and not lift itself up1 but keep his covenant and observe it4 #ag3ae4 ,but he hath revolted from him and sent ambassadors to ,egypt1 that it might give him horses1 and much people4 ,and shall he that hath done thus prosper1 or be saved8 and shall he escape that hath broken the covenant8 #ag3af4 ,as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god3 ,in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king1 whose oath he hath made void1 and whose covenant he broke1 even in the midst of ,babylon shall he die4 #ag3ag4 ,and not with a great army1 nor with much people shall ,pharao fight against him3 when he shall cast up mounts1 and build forts1 to cut off many souls4 #ag3ah4 ,for he had despised the oath1 breaking his covenant1 and behold he hath given his hand3 and having done all these things1 he shall not escape4 #ag3ai4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,as ,i live1 ,i will lay upon his head the oath he hath despised1 and the covenant he hath broken4 #ag3bj4 ,and ,i will spread my net over him1 and he shall be taken in my net3 and ,i will bring him into ,babylon1 and will judge him there for the transgression by which he hath despised me4 #ag3ba4 ,and all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword3 and the residue shall be scattered into every wind3 and you shall know that ,i the ,lord have spoken4 #ag3bb4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,i myself will take of the marrow of the high cedar1 and will set it3 ,i will crop off a tender twig from the top of the branches thereof1 and ,i will plant it on a mountain high and eminent4 ,of the marrow of the high cedar1 etc444 ,of the royal stock of ,david4 ,ibid4 ,a tender twig444 ,viz41 ,jesus ,christ1 whom ,god hath planted in mount ,sion1 that is1 the high mountain of his church1 to which all nations flow4 #ag3bc4 ,on the high mountains of ,israel will ,i plant it1 and it shall shoot forth into branches and shall bear fruit1 and it shall become a great cedar3 and all birds shall dwell under it1 and every fowl shall make its nest under the shadow of the branches thereof4 #ag3bd4 ,and all the trees of the country shall know that ,i the ,lord have brought down the high tree1 and exalted the low tree3 and have dried up the green tree1 and have caused the dry tree to flourish4 ,i the ,lord have spoken and have done it4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #ah ,one man shall not bear the sins of another1 but every one his own2 if a wicked man truly repent1 he shall be saved2 and if a just man leave his justice1 he shall perish4 #ah3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 ,what is the meaning8 #ah3b4 ,that you use among you this parable as a proverb in the land of ,israel1 saying3 ,the fathers have eaten sour grapes1 and the teeth of the children are set on edge4 #ah3c4 ,as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god1 this parable shall be no more to you a proverb in ,israel4 #ah3d4 ,behold all souls are mine3 as the soul of the father1 so also the soul of the son is mine3 the soul that sinneth1 the same shall die4 #ah3e4 ,and if a man be just1 and do judgment and justice1 #ah3f4 ,and hath not eaten upon the mountains1 nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of ,israel3 and hath not defiled his neighbour's wife1 nor come near to a menstruous woman3 ,not eaten upon the mountains444 ,that is1 of the sacrifices there offered to idols4 #ah3g4 ,and hath not wronged any man3 but hath restored the pledge to the debtor1 hath taken nothing away by violence3 hath given his bread to the hungry1 and hath covered the naked with a garment3 #ah3h4 ,hath not lent upon usury1 nor taken any increase3 hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity1 and hath executed true judgment between man and man3 #ah3i4 ,hath walked in my commandments1 and kept my judgments1 to do truth3 he is just1 he shall surely live1 saith the ,lord ,god4 ,to do truth444 ,that is1 to act according to truth2 for the ,hebrews called everything that was just1 truth4 #ah3aj4 ,and if he beget a son that is a robber1 a shedder of blood1 and that hath done some one of these things3 #ah3aa4 ,though he doth not all these things1 but that eateth upon the mountains1 and that defileth his neighbour's wife3 #ah3ab4 ,that grieveth the needy and the poor1 that taketh away by violence1 that restoreth not the pledge1 and that lifteth up his eyes to idols1 that comitteth abomination3 #ah3ac4 ,that giveth upon usury1 and that taketh an increase3 shall such a one live8 he shall not live4 ,seeing he hath done all these detestable things1 he shall surely die1 his blood shall be upon him4 #ah3ad4 ,but if he beget a son1 who1 seeing all his father's sins1 which he hath done1 is afraid1 and shall not do the like to them3 #ah3ae4 ,that hath not eaten upon the mountains1 nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of ,israel1 and hath not defiled his neighbour's wife3 #ah3af4 ,and hath not grieved any man1 nor withholden the pledge1 nor taken away with violence1 but hath given his bread to the hungry1 and covered the naked with a garment3 #ah3ag4 ,that hath turned away his hand from injuring the poor1 hath not taken usury and increase1 but hath executed my judgments1 and hath walked in my commandments3 this man shall not die for the iniquity of his father1 but living he shall live4 #ah3ah4 ,as for his father1 because he oppressed and offered violence to his brother1 and wrought evil in the midst of his people1 behold he is dead in his own iniquity4 #ah3ai4 ,and you say3 ,why hath not the son borne the iniquity of his father8 ,verily1 because the son hath wrought judgment and justice1 hath kept all my commandments1 and done them1 living1 he shall live4 #ah3bj4 ,the soul that sinneth1 the same shall die3 the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father1 and the father shall not bear the iniquity of the son3 the justice of the just shall be upon him1 and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him4 #ah3ba4 ,but if the wicked do penance for all his sins which he hath committed1 and keep all my commandments1 and do judgment1 and justice1 living he shall live1 and shall not die4 #ah3bb4 ,i will not remember all his iniquities that he hath done3 in his justice which he hath wrought1 he shall live4 #ah3bc4 ,is it my will that a sinner should die1 saith the ,lord ,god1 and not that he should be converted from his ways1 and live8 #ah3bd4 ,but if the just man turn himself away from his justice1 and do iniquity according to all the abominations which the wicked man useth to work1 shall he live8 all his justices which he hath done1 shall not be remembered3 in the prevarication1 by which he hath prevaricated1 and in his sin1 which he hath committed1 in them he shall die4 #ah3be4 ,and you have said3 ,the way of the ,lord is not right4 ,hear ye1 therefore1 ,o house of ,israel3 ,is it my way that is not right1 and are not rather your ways perverse8 #ah3bf4 ,for when the just turneth himself away from his justice1 and comitteth iniquity1 he shall die therein3 in the injustice that he hath wrought he shall die4 #ah3bg4 ,and when the wicked turneth himself away from his wickedness1 which he hath wrought1 and doeth judgment1 and justice3 he shall save his soul alive4 #ah3bh4 ,because he considereth and turneth away himself from all his iniquities which he hath wrought1 he shall surely live1 and not die4 #ah3bi4 ,and the children of ,israel say3 ,the way of the ,lord is not right4 ,are not my ways right1 ,o house of ,israel1 and are not rather your ways perverse8 #ah3cj4 ,therefore will ,i judge every man according to his ways1 ,o house of ,israel1 saith the ,lord ,god4 ,be converted1 and do penance for all your iniquities3 and iniquity shall not be your ruin4 #ah3ca4 ,cast away from you all your transgressions1 by which you have transgressed1 and make to yourselves a new heart1 and a new spirit3 and why will you die1 ,o house of ,israel8 #ah3cb4 ,for ,i desire not the death of him that dieth1 saith the ,lord ,god1 return ye and live4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #ai ,the parable of the young lions1 and of the vineyard that is wasted4 #ai3a4 ,moreover take thou up a lamentation for the princes of ,israel1 #ai3b4 ,and say3 ,why did thy mother the lioness lie down among the lions1 and bring up her whelps in the midst of young lions8 ,thy mother the lioness444 ,jerusalem4 #ai3c4 ,and she brought out one of her whelps1 and he became a lion3 and he learned to catch the prey1 and to devour men4 ,one of her whelps444 ,viz41 ,joachaz1 alias ,sellum4 #ai3d4 ,and the nations heard of him1 and took him1 but not without receiving wounds3 and they brought him in chains into the land of ,egypt4 #ai3e4 ,but she seeing herself weakened1 and that her hope was lost1 took one of her young lions1 and set him up for a lion4 ,one of her young lions444 ,joakim4 #ai3f4 ,and he went up and down among the lions1 and became a lion3 and he learned to catch the prey1 and to devour men4 #ai3g4 ,he learned to make widows1 and to lay waste their cities3 and the land became desolate1 and the fulness thereof by the noise of his roaring4 #ai3h4 ,and the nations came together against him on every side out of the provinces1 and they spread their net over him1 in their wounds he was taken4 #ai3i4 ,and they put him into a cage1 they brought him in chains to the king of ,babylon3 and they cast him into prison1 that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of ,israel4 #ai3aj4 ,thy mother is like a vine in thy blood planted by the water3 her fruit and her branches have grown out of many waters4 #ai3aa4 ,and she hath strong rods to make sceptres for them that bear rule1 and her stature was exalted among the branches3 and she saw her height in the multitude of her branches4 #ai3ab4 ,but she was plucked up in wrath1 and cast on the ground1 and the burning wind dried up her fruit3 her strong rods are withered1 and dried up3 the fire hath devoured her4 #ai3ac4 ,and now she is transplanted into the desert1 in a land not passable1 and dry4 #ai3ad4 ,and a fire is gone out from a rod of her branches1 which hath devoured her fruit3 so that she now hath no strong rod1 to be a sceptre of rulers4 ,this is a lamentation1 and it shall be for a lamentation4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #bj ,god refuses to answer the ancients of ,israel inquiring by the prophet3 but by him setteth his benefits before their eyes1 and their heinous sins3 threatening yet greater punishments3 but still mixed with mercy4 #bj3a4 ,and it came to pass in the seventh year1 in the fifth month1 the tenth day of the month3 there came men of the ancients of ,israel to inquire of the ,lord1 and they sat before me4 #bj3b4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #bj3c4 ,son of man1 speak to the ancients of ,israel and say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,are you come to inquire of me8 ,as ,i live1 ,i will not answer you1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #bj3d4 ,if thou judgest them1 if thou judgest1 ,o son of man1 declare to them the abominations of their fathers4 ,if thou judgest them444 ,or1 if thou wilt enter into the cause and plead against them4 #bj3e4 ,and say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,in the day when ,i chose ,israel1 and lifted up my hand for the race of the house of ,jacob3 and appeared to them in the land of ,egypt1 and lifted up my hand for them1 saying3 ,i am the ,lord your ,god3 #bj3f4 ,in that day ,i lifted up my hand for them to bring them out of the land of ,egypt1 into a land which ,i had provided for them1 flowing with milk and honey1 which excelled amongst all lands4 #bj3g4 ,and ,i said to them3 ,let every man cast away the scandals of his eyes1 and defile not yourselves with the idols of ,egypt3 ,i am the ,lord your ,god4 ,scandals1 etc444 ,offensiones4 ,that is1 the abominations or idols1 to the worship of which they were allured by their eyes4 #bj3h4 ,but they provoked me1 and would not hearken to me3 they did not every man cast away the abominations of his eyes1 neither did they forsake the idols of ,egypt3 and ,i said ,i would pour out my indignation upon them1 and accomplish my wrath against them in the midst of the land of ,egypt4 #bj3i4 ,but ,i did otherwise for my name's sake1 that it might not be violated before the nations1 in the midst of whom they were1 and among whom ,i made myself known to them1 to bring them out of the land of ,egypt4 #bj3aj4 ,therefore ,i brought them out from the land of ,egypt1 and brought them into the desert4 #bj3aa4 ,and ,i gave them my statutes1 and ,i shewed them my judgments1 which if a man do1 he shall live in them4 #bj3ab4 ,moreover ,i gave them also my sabbaths1 to be a sign between me and them3 and that they might know that ,i am the ,lord that sanctify them4 #bj3ac4 ,but the house of ,israel provoked me in the desert3 they walked not in my statutes1 and they cast away my judgments1 which if a man do he shall live in them3 and they grievously violated my sabbaths4 ,i said therefore that ,i would pour out my indignation upon them in the desert1 and would consume them4 #bj3ad4 ,but ,i spared them for the sake of my name1 lest it should be profaned before the nations1 from which ,i brought them out1 in their sight4 #bj3ae4 ,so ,i lifted up my hand over them in the desert1 not to bring them into the land which ,i had given them flowing with milk and honey1 the best of all lands4 #bj3af4 ,because they cast off my judgments1 and walked not in my statutes1 and violated my sabbaths3 for their heart went after idols4 #bj3ag4 ,yet my eye spared them1 so that ,i destroyed them not3 neither did ,i consume them in the desert4 #bj3ah4 ,and ,i said to their children in the wilderness3 ,walk not in the statutes of your fathers1 and observe not their judgments1 nor be ye defiled with their idols3 #bj3ai4 ,i am the ,lord your ,god3 walk ye in my statutes1 and observe my judgments1 and do them4 #bj3bj4 ,and sanctify my sabbaths1 that they may be a sign between me and you3 and that you may know that ,i am the ,lord your ,god4 #bj3ba4 ,but their children provoked me1 they walked not in my commandments1 nor observed my judgments to do them3 which if a man do1 he shall live in them3 and they violated my sabbaths3 and ,i threatened to pour out my indignation upon them1 and to accomplish my wrath in them in the desert4 #bj3bb4 ,but ,i turned away my hand1 and wrought for my name's sake1 that it might not be violated before the nations1 out of which ,i brought them forth in their sight4 #bj3bc4 ,again ,i lifted up my hand upon them in the wilderness1 to disperse them among the nations1 and scatter them through the countries3 #bj3bd4 ,because they had not done my judgments1 and had cast off my statutes1 and had violated my sabbaths1 and their eyes had been after the idols of their fathers4 #bj3be4 ,therefore ,i also gave them statutes that were not good1 and judgments1 in which they shall not live4 ,statutes that were not good1 etc444 ,viz41 the laws and ordinances of their enemies2 or those imposes upon them by that cruel tyrant the devil1 to whose power they were delivered up for their sins4 #bj3bf4 ,and ,i polluted them in their own gifts1 when they offered all that opened the womb1 for their offences3 and they shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 ,i polluted them1 etc444 ,that is1 ,i gave them up to such blindness in punishment of their offences1 as to pollute themselves with the blood of all their firstborn1 whom they offered up to their idols in compliance with their wicked devices4 #bj3bg4 ,wherefore speak to the house of ,israel1 ,o son of man1 and say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,moreover in this also your fathers blaspheme me1 when they had despised and contemned me2 #bj3bh4 ,and ,i had brought them into the land1 for which ,i lifted up my hand to give it them3 they saw every high hill1 and every shady tree1 and there they sacrificed their victims3 and there they presented the provocation of their offerings1 and there they set their sweet odours1 and poured forth their libations4 #bj3bi4 ,and ,i said to them3 ,what meaneth the high place to which you go8 and the name thereof was called ,high-place even to this day4 #bj3cj4 ,wherefore say to the house of ,israel3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,verily1 you are defiled in the way of your fathers1 and you commit fornication with their abominations4 #bj3ca4 ,and you defile yourselves with all your idols unto this day1 in the offering of your gifts1 when you make your children pass through the fire3 and shall ,i answer you1 ,o house of ,israel8 ,as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god1 ,i will not answer you4 #bj3cb4 ,neither shall the thought of your mind come to pass1 by which you say3 ,we will be as the ,gentiles1 and as the families of the earth1 to worship stocks and stones4 #bj3cc4 ,as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god1 ,i will reign over you with a strong hand1 and with a stretched out arm1 and with fury poured out4 #bj3cd4 ,and ,i will bring you out from the people1 and ,i will gather you out of the countries1 in which you are scattered1 ,i will reign over you with a strong hand and with a stretched out arm1 and with fury poured out4 #bj3ce4 ,and ,i will bring you into the wilderness of people1 and there will ,i plead with you face to face4 ,the wilderness of people444 ,that is1 a desert in which there are no people4 #bj3cf4 ,as ,i pleaded against your fathers in the desert of the land of ,egypt2 even so will ,i judge you1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #bj3cg4 ,and ,i will make you subject to my sceptre1 and will bring you into the bands of the covenant4 #bj3ch4 ,and ,i will pick out from among you the transgressors1 and the wicked1 and will bring them out of the land where they sojourn1 and they shall not enter into the land of ,israel3 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 #bj3ci4 ,and as for you1 ,o house of ,israel3 thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,walk ye every one after your idols1 and serve them4 ,but if in this also you hear me not1 but defile my holy name any more with your gifts1 and with your idols2 ,walk ye every one1 etc444 ,it is not an allowance1 much less a commandment to serve idols2 but a figure of speech1 by which ,god would have them to understand that if they would walk after their idols1 they must not pretend to serve him at the same time3 for that he would by no means suffer such a mixture of worship4 #bj3dj4 ,in my holy mountain1 in the high mountain of ,israel1 saith the ,lord ,god1 there shall all the house of ,israel serve me2 all of them ,i say1 in the land in which they shall please me1 and there will ,i require your firstfruits1 and the chief of your tithes with all your sanctifications4 ,in my holy mountain1 etc444 ,the foregoing verse1 to make the sense complete1 must be understood so as to condemn and reject that mixture of worship which the ,jews then followed4 ,in this verse1 ,god promises to the true ,israelites1 especially to those of the ,christian church1 that they shall serve him in another manner1 in his holy mountain1 the spiritual ,sion3 and shall by accepted of by him4 #bj3da4 ,i will accept of you for an odour of sweetness1 when ,i shall have brought you out from the people1 and shall have gathered you out of the lands into which you are scattered1 and ,i will be sanctified in you in the sight of the nations4 #bj3db4 ,and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord1 when ,i shall have brought you into the land of ,israel1 into the land for which ,i lifted up my hand to give it to your fathers4 #bj3dc4 ,and there you shall remember your ways1 and all your wicked doings with which you have been defiled2 and you shall be displeased with yourselves in your own sight1 for all your wicked deeds which you committed4 #bj3dd4 ,and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord1 when ,i shall have done well by you for my own name's sake1 and not according to your evil ways1 nor according to your wicked deeds1 ,o house of ,israel1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #bj3de4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #bj3df4 ,son of man1 set thy face against the way of the south1 and drop towards the south1 and prophesy against the forest of the south field4 ,of the south444 ,jerusalem lay towards the south of ,babylon1 7where the prohet then was17 and is here called the forest of the south field1 and is threatened with utter desolation4 #bj3dg4 ,and say to the south forest3 ,hear the word of the ,lord3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i will kindle a fire in thee1 and will burn in thee every green tree1 and every dry tree3 the flame of the fire shall not be quenched3 and every face shall be burned in it1 from the south even to the north4 #bj3dh4 ,and all flesh shall see1 that ,i the ,lord have kindled it1 and it shall not be quenched4 #bj3di4 ,and ,i said3 ,ah1 ah1 ah1 ,o ,lord ,god3 they say of me3 ,doth not this man speak by parables8 ,ezechiel ,chapter #ba ,the destruction of ,jerusalem by the sword is further described3 the ruin also of the ,ammonites is forshewn4 ,and finally ,babylon1 the destroyer of others1 shall be destroyed4 #ba3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ba3b4 ,son of man1 set thy face toward ,jerusalem1 and let thy speech flow towards the holy places1 and prophesy against the land of ,israel3 #ba3c4 ,and say to the land of ,israel1 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i come against thee1 and ,i will draw forth my sword out of its sheath1 and will cut off in thee the just1 and the wicked4 #ba3d4 ,and forasmuch as ,i have cut off in thee the just and the wicked1 therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh1 from the south even to the north4 #ba3e4 ,that all flesh may know that ,i the ,lord have drawn my sword out of its sheath not to be turned back4 #ba3f4 ,and thou1 son of man1 mourn with the breaking of thy loins1 and with bitterness sigh before them4 #ba3g4 ,and when they shall say to thee3 ,why mournest thou8 thou shalt say3 ,for that which ,i hear3 because it cometh1 and every heart shall melt1 and all hands shall be made feeble1 and every spirit shall faint1 and water shall run down every knee3 behold it cometh1 and it shall be done1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #ba3h4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ba3i4 ,son of man1 prophesy1 and say3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,say3 ,the sword1 the sword is sharpened1 and furbished4 #ba3aj4 ,it is sharpened to kill victims3 it is furbished that it may glitter3 thou removest the sceptre of my son1 thou hast cut down every tree4 ,thou removest the sceptre of my son444 ,he speaks 7according to ,st4 ,jerome7 to the sword of ,nabuchodonosor3 which was about to remove the sceptre of ,israel1 whom ,god here calls his son4 #ba3aa4 ,and ,i have given it to be furbished1 that it may be handled3 this sword is sharpened1 and it is furbished1 that it may be in the hand of the slayer4 #ba3ab4 ,cry1 and howl1 ,o son of man1 for this sword is upon my people1 it is upon all the princes of ,israel1 that are fled3 they are delivered up to the sword with my people1 strike therefore upon thy thigh1 #ba3ac4 ,because it is tried3 and that when it shall overthrow the sceptre1 and it shall not be1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #ba3ad4 ,thou therefore1 ,o son of man1 prophesy1 and strike thy hands together1 and let the sword be doubled1 and let the sword of the slain be tripled3 this is the sword of a great slaughter1 that maketh them stand amazed1 #ba3ae4 ,and languish in heart1 and that multiplieth ruins4 ,in all their gates ,i have set the dread of the sharp sword1 the sword that is furbished to glitter1 that is made ready for slaughter4 #ba3af4 ,be thou sharpened1 go to the right hand1 or to the left1 which way soever thou hast a mind to set thy face4 #ba3ag4 ,and ,i will clap my hands together1 and will satisfy my indignation3 ,i the ,lord have spoken4 #ba3ah4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ba3ai4 ,and thou son of man1 set thee two ways1 for the sword of the king of ,babylon to come3 both shall come forth out of one land3 and with his hand he shall draw lots1 he shall consult at the head of the way of the city4 #ba3bj4 ,thou shalt make a way that the sword may come to ,rabbath of the children of ,ammon1 and to ,juda unto ,jerusalem the strong city4 #ba3ba4 ,for the king of ,babylon stood in the highway1 at the head of two ways1 seeking divination1 shuffling arrows3 he inquired of the idols1 and consulted entrails4 #ba3bb4 ,on his right hand was the divination for ,jerusalem1 to set battering rams1 to open the mouth in slaughter1 to lift up the voice in howling1 to set engines against the gates1 to cast up a mount1 to build forts4 #ba3bc4 ,and he shall be in their eyes as one consulting the oracle in vain1 and imitating the leisure of sabbaths3 but he will call to remembrance the iniquity that they may be taken4 #ba3bd4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because you have remembered your iniquity1 and have discovered your prevarications1 and your sins have appeared in all your devices3 because1 ,i say1 ,you have remembered1 you shall be taken with the hand4 #ba3be4 ,but thou profane wicked prince of ,israel1 whose day is come that hath been appointed in the time of iniquity3 ,thou profane1 etc444 ,he speaks to king ,sedecias1 who had broken his oath1 and was otherwise a wicked prince4 #ba3bf4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,remove the diadem1 take off the crown3 is it not this that hath exalted the low one1 and brought down him that was high8 ,is it not this that hath exalted the low one444 ,the royal crown of ,juda had exalted ,sedecias from a private state and condition to the sovereign power1 as the loss of it had brought down ,jechonias1 etc4 #ba3bg4 ,i will shew it to be iniquity1 iniquity1 iniquity3 but this was not done till he came to whom judgment belongeth1 and ,i will give it him4 ,i will shew it to be iniquity1 etc444 ,or1 ,i will overturn it1 viz41 the crown of ,juda for the manifold iniquities of the kings3 but it shall not be utterly removed1 till ,christ come whose right it is3 and who shall reign in the spiritual house of ,jacob1 that is1 in his church1 for evermore4 #ba3bh4 ,and thou son of man1 prophesy1 and say3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god concerning the children of ,ammon1 and concerning their reproach1 and thou shalt say3 ,o sword1 ,o sword1 come out of the scabbard to kill1 be furbished to destroy1 and to glitter1 ,concerning their reproach444 ,by which they had reproached and insulted over the ,jews1 at the time of the destruction of ,jerusalem4 #ba3bi4 ,whilst they see vain things in thy regard1 and they divine lies3 to bring thee upon the necks of the wicked that are wounded1 whose appointed day is come in the time of iniquity4 #ba3cj4 ,return into thy sheath4 ,i will judge thee in the place wherein thou wast created1 in the land of thy nativity4 ,return into thy sheath1 etc444 ,the sword of ,babylon1 after raging against many nations1 was shortly to be judged and destroyed at home by the ,medes and ,persians4 #ba3ca4 ,and ,i will pour out upon thee my indignation3 in the fire of my rage will ,i blow upon thee1 and will give thee into the hands of men that are brutish and contrive thy destruction4 #ba3cb4 ,thou shalt be fuel for the fire1 thy blood shall be in the midst of the land1 thou shalt be forgotten3 for ,i the ,lord have spoken it4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #bb ,the general corruption of the inhabitants of ,jerusalem3 for which ,god will consume them as dross in his furnace4 #bb3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #bb3b4 ,and thou son of man1 dost thou not judge1 dost thou not judge the city of blood8 #bb3c4 ,and thou shalt shew her all her abominations1 and shalt say3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,this is the city that sheddeth blood in the midst of her1 that her time may come3 and that hath made idols against herself1 to defile herself4 #bb3d4 ,thou art become guilty in thy blood which thou hast shed3 and thou art defiled in thy idols which thou hast made3 and thou hast made thy days to draw near1 and hast brought on the time of thy years3 therefore have ,i made thee a reproach to the ,gentiles1 and a mockery to all countries4 #bb3e4 ,those that are near1 and those that are far from thee1 shall triumph over thee3 thou filthy one1 infamous1 great in destruction4 #bb3f4 ,behold the princes of ,israel1 every one hath employed his arm in thee to shed blood4 #bb3g4 ,they have abused father and mother in thee1 they have oppressed the stranger in the midst of thee1 they have grieved the fatherless and widow in thee4 #bb3h4 ,thou hast despised my sanctuaries1 and profaned my sabbaths4 #bb3i4 ,slanderers have been in thee to shed blood1 and they have eaten upon the mountains in thee1 they have committed wickedness in the midst of thee4 #bb3aj4 ,they have discovered the nakedness of their father in thee1 they have humbled the uncleanness of the menstruous woman in thee4 #bb3aa4 ,and every one hath committed abomination with his neighbour's wife1 and the father in law hath wickedly defiled his daughter in law1 the brother hath oppressed his sister the daughter of his father in thee4 #bb3ab4 ,they have taken gifts in thee to shed blood3 thou hast taken usury and increase1 and hast covetously oppressed thy neighbours3 and thou hast forgotten me1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #bb3ac4 ,behold1 ,i have clapped my hands at thy covetousness1 which thou hast exercised3 and at the blood that hath been shed in the midst of thee4 #bb3ad4 ,shall thy heart endure1 or shall thy hands prevail in the days which ,i will bring upon thee3 ,i the ,lord have spoken1 and will do it4 #bb3ae4 ,and ,i will disperse thee in the nations1 and will scatter thee among the countries1 and ,i will put an end to thy uncleanness in thee4 #bb3af4 ,and ,i will possess thee in the sight of the ,gentiles1 and thou shalt know that ,i am the ,lord4 #bb3ag4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #bb3ah4 ,son of man1 the house of ,israel is become dross to me3 all these are brass1 and tin1 and iron1 and lead1 in the midst of the furnace3 they are become the dross of silver4 #bb3ai4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because you are all turned into dross1 therefore behold ,i will gather you together in the midst of ,jerusalem4 #bb3bj4 ,as they gather silver1 and brass1 and tin1 and iron1 and lead in the midst of the furnace3 that ,i may kindle a fire in it to melt it3 so will ,i gather you together in my fury and in my wrath1 and will take my rest1 and ,i will melt you down4 #bb3ba4 ,and will gather you together1 and will burn you in the fire of my wrath1 and you shall be melted in the midst thereof4 #bb3bb4 ,as silver is melted in the midst of the furnace1 so shall you be in the midst thereof3 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord1 when ,i have poured out my indignation upon you4 #bb3bc4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #bb3bd4 ,son of man1 say to her3 ,thou art a land that is unclean1 and not rained upon in the day of wrath4 #bb3be4 ,there is a conspiracy of prophets in the midst thereof3 like a lion that roareth and catcheth the prey1 they have devoured souls1 they have taken riches and hire1 they have made many widows in the midst thereof4 #bb3bf4 ,her priests have despised my law1 and have defiled my sanctuaries3 they have put no difference between holy and profane3 nor have distinguished between the polluted and the clean3 and they have turned away their eyes from my sabbaths1 and ,i was profaned in the midst of them4 #bb3bg4 ,her princes in the midst of her1 are like wolves ravening the prey to shed blood1 and to destroy souls1 and to run after gains through covetousness4 #bb3bh4 ,and her prophets have daubed them without tempering the mortar1 seeing vain things1 and divining lies unto them1 saying3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 when the ,lord hath not spoken4 #bb3bi4 ,the people of the land have used oppression1 and committed robbery3 they afflicted the needy and poor1 and they oppressed the stranger by calumny without judgment4 #bb3cj4 ,and ,i sought among them for a man that might set up a hedge1 and stand in the gap before me in favour of the land1 that ,i might not destroy it3 and ,i found none4 #bb3ca4 ,and ,i poured out my indignation upon them1 in the fire of my wrath ,i consumed them3 ,i have rendered their way upon their own head1 saith the ,lord ,god4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #bc ,under the names of the two harlots1 ,oolla and ,ooliba1 are described the manifold disloyalties of ,samaria and ,jerusalem1 with the punishment of them both4 #bc3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #bc3b4 ,son of man1 there were two women1 daughters of one mother4 #bc3c4 ,and they committed fornication in ,egypt1 in their youth they committed fornication3 there were their breasts pressed down1 and the teats of their virginity were bruised4 ,committed fornication444 ,that is1 idolatry4 #bc3d4 ,and their names were ,oolla the elder1 and ,ooliba her younger sister3 and ,i took them1 and they bore sons and daughters4 ,now for their names1 ,samaria is ,oolla1 and ,jerusalem is ,ooliba4 ,oolla and ,ooliba444 ,god calls the kingdom of ,israel ,oolla1 which signifies their own habitation1 because they separated themselves from his temple3 and the kingdom of ,juda1 ,ooliba1 which signifies his habitation in her1 because of his temple among them in ,jerusalem4 #bc3e4 ,and ,oolla committed fornication against me1 and doted on her lovers1 on the ,assyrians that came to her1 ,on the ,assyraians1 etc444 ,that is1 the idols of the ,assyrians3 for all that is said in this chapter of the fornications of ,israel and ,juda1 is to be understood in a spiritual sense1 of their disloyalty to the ,lord1 by worshipping strange gods4 #bc3f4 ,who were clothed with blue1 princes1 and rulers1 beautiful youths1 all horsemen1 mounted upon horses4 #bc3g4 ,and she committed her fornications with those chosen men1 all sons of the ,assyrians3 and she defiled herself with the uncleanness of all them on whom she doted4 #bc3h4 ,moreover also she did not forsake her fornications which she had committed in ,egypt3 for they also lay with her in her youth1 and they bruised the breasts of her virginity1 and poured out their fornication upon her4 #bc3i4 ,therefore have ,i delivered her into the hands of her lovers1 into the hands of the sons of the ,assyrians1 upon whose lust she doted4 #bc3aj4 ,they discovered her disgrace1 took away her sons and daughters1 and slew her with the sword3 and they became infamous women1 and they executed judgments in her4 #bc3aa4 ,and when her sister ,ooliba saw this1 she was mad with lust more than she3 and she carried her fornication beyond the fornication of her sister4 #bc3ab4 ,impudently prostituting herself to the children of the ,assyrians1 the princes1 and rulers that came to her1 clothed with divers colours1 to the horsemen that rode upon horses1 and to young men all of great beauty4 #bc3ac4 ,and ,i saw that she was defiled1 and that they both took one way4 #bc3ad4 ,and she increased her fornications3 and when she had seen men painted on the wall1 the images of the ,chaldeans set forth in colours1 #bc3ae4 ,and girded with girdles about their reins1 and with dyed turbans on their heads1 the resemblance of all the captains1 the likeness of the sons of ,babylon1 and of the land of the ,chaldeans wherein they were born1 #bc3af4 ,she doted upon them with the lust of her eyes1 and she sent messengers to them into ,chaldea4 #bc3ag4 ,and when the sons of ,babylon were come to her to the bed of love1 they defiled her with their fornications1 and she was polluted by them1 and her soul was glutted with them4 #bc3ah4 ,and she discovered her fornications1 and discovered her disgrace3 and my soul was alienated from her1 as my soul was alienated from her sister4 #bc3ai4 ,for she multiplied her fornications1 remembering the days of her youth1 in which she played the harlot in the land of ,egypt4 #bc3bj4 ,and she was mad with lust after lying with them whose flesh is as the flesh of asses3 and whose issue as the issue of horses4 #bc3ba4 ,and thou hast renewed the wickedness of thy youth1 when thy breasts were pressed in ,egypt1 and the paps of thy virginity broken4 #bc3bb4 ,therefore1 ,ooliba1 thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i will raise up against thee all thy lovers with whom thy soul hath been glutted3 and ,i will gather them together against thee round about4 #bc3bc4 ,the children of ,babylon1 and all the ,chaldeans1 the nobles1 and the kings1 and princes1 all the sons of the ,assyrians1 beautiful young men1 all the captains1 and rulers1 the princes of princes1 and the renowned horsemen4 #bc3bd4 ,and they shall come upon thee well appointed with chariot and wheel1 a multitude of people3 they shall be armed against thee on every side with breastplate1 and buckler1 and helmet3 and ,i will set judgment before them1 and they shall judge thee by their judgments4 #bc3be4 ,and ,i will set my jealousy against thee1 which they shall execute upon thee with fury3 they shall cut off thy nose and thy ears3 and what remains shall fall by the sword3 they shall take thy sons1 and thy daughters1 and thy residue shall be devoured by fire4 #bc3bf4 ,and they shall strip thee of thy garments1 and take away the instruments of thy glory4 #bc3bg4 ,and ,i will put an end to thy wickedness in thee1 and thy fornication brought out of the land of ,egypt3 neither shalt thou lift up thy eyes to them1 nor remember ,egypt any more4 #bc3bh4 ,for thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold1 ,i will deliver thee into the hands of them whom thou hatest1 into their hands with whom thy soul hath been glutted4 #bc3bi4 ,and they shall deal with thee in hatred1 and they shall take away all thy labours1 and shall let thee go naked1 and full of disgrace1 and the disgrace of thy fornication shall be discovered1 thy wickedness1 and thy fornications4 #bc3cj4 ,they have done these things to thee1 because thou hast played the harlot with the nations among which thou wast defiled with their idols4 #bc3ca4 ,thou hast walked in the way of thy sister and ,i will give her cup into thy hand4 #bc3cb4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,thou shalt drink thy sister's cup1 deep and wide3 thou shalt be had in derision and scorn1 which containeth very much4 #bc3cc4 ,thou shalt be filled with drunkenness1 and sorrow3 with the cup of grief and sadness1 with the cup of thy sister ,samaria4 #bc3cd4 ,and thou shalt drink it1 and shalt drink it up even to the dregs1 and thou shalt devour the fragments thereof1 thou shalt rend thy breasts3 because ,i have spoken it1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #bc3ce4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because thou hast forgotten me1 and hast cast me off behind thy back1 bear thou also thy wickedness1 and thy fornications4 #bc3cf4 ,and the ,lord spoke to me1 saying3 ,son of man1 dost thou judge ,oolla1 and ,ooliba1 and dost thou declare to them their wicked deeds8 #bc3cg4 ,because they have committed adultery1 and blood is in their hands1 and they have committed fornication with their idols3 moreover also their children1 whom they bore to me1 they have offered to them to be devoured4 #bc3ch4 ,yea1 and they have done this to me4 ,they polluted my sanctuary on the same day1 and profaned my sabbaths4 #bc3ci4 ,and when they sacrificed their children to their idols1 and went into my sanctuary the same day to profane it3 they did these things even in the midst of my house4 #bc3dj4 ,they sent for men coming from afar1 to whom they had sent a messenger3 and behold they came3 for whom thou didst wash thyself1 and didst paint thy eyes1 and wast adorned with women's ornaments4 #bc3da4 ,thou sattest on a very fine bed1 and a table was decked before thee3 whereupon thou didst set my incense1 and my ointment4 #bc3db4 ,and there was in her the voice of a multitude rejoicing3 and to some that were brought of the multitude of men1 and that came from the desert1 they put bracelets on their hands1 and beautiful crowns on their heads4 #bc3dc4 ,and ,i said to her that was worn out in her adulteries3 ,now will this woman still continue in her fornication4 #bc3dd4 ,and they went in to her1 as to a harlot3 so went they in unto ,oolla1 and ,ooliba1 wicked women4 #bc3de4 ,they therefore are just men3 these shall judge them as adulteresses are judged1 and as shedders of blood are judged3 because they are adulteresses1 and blood is in their hands4 #bc3df4 ,for thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,bring a multitude upon them1 and deliver them over to tumult and rapine3 #bc3dg4 ,and let the people stone them with stone1 and let them be stabbed with their swords3 they shall kill their sons and daughters1 and their houses they shall burn with fire4 #bc3dh4 ,and ,i will take away wickedness out of the land3 and all women shall learn1 not to do according to the wickedness of them4 #bc3di4 ,and they shall render your wickedness upon you1 and you shall bear the sins of your idols3 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord ,god4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #bd ,under the parable of a boiling pot is shewn the utter destruction of ,jerusalem3 for which the ,jews at ,babylon shall not dare to mourn4 #bd3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me in the ninth year1 in the tenth month1 the tenth day of the month1 saying3 #bd3b4 ,son of man1 write thee the name of this day1 on which the king of ,babylon hath set himself against ,jerusalem to day4 #bd3c4 ,and thou shalt speak by a figure a parable to the provoking house1 and say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,set on a pot1 set it on1 ,i say1 and put water in it4 #bd3d4 ,heap together into it the pieces thereof1 every good piece1 the thigh and the shoulder1 choice pieces and full of bones4 #bd3e4 ,take the fattest of the flock1 and lay together piles of bones under it3 the seething thereof is boiling hot1 and the bones thereof are thoroughly sodden in the midst of it4 #bd3f4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,woe to the bloody city1 to the pot whose rust is in it1 and its rust is not gone out of it3 cast it out piece by piece1 there hath no lot fallen upon it4 #bd3g4 ,for her blood is in the midst of her1 she hath shed it upon the smooth rock3 she hath not shed it upon the ground1 that it might be covered with dust4 #bd3h4 ,and that ,i might bring my indignation upon her1 and take my vengeance3 ,i have shed her blood upon the smooth rock1 that it should not be covered4 #bd3i4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,woe to the bloody city1 of which ,i will make a great bonfire4 #bd3aj4 ,heap together the bones1 which ,i will burn with fire3 the flesh shall be consumed1 and the whole composition shall be sodden1 and the bones shall be consumed4 #bd3aa4 ,then set it empty upon burning coals1 that it may be hot1 and the brass thereof may be melted3 and let the filth of it be melted in the midst thereof1 and let the rust of it be consumed4 #bd3ab4 ,great pains have been taken1 and the great rust thereof is not gone out1 not even by fire4 #bd3ac4 ,thy uncleanness is execrable3 because ,i desired to cleanse thee1 and thou art not cleansed from thy filthiness3 neither shalt thou be cleansed1 before ,i cause my indignation to rest in thee4 #bd3ad4 ,i the ,lord have spoken3 it shall come to pass1 and ,i will do it3 ,i will not pass by1 nor spare1 nor be pacified3 ,i will judge thee according to thy ways1 and according to thy doings1 saith the ,lord4 #bd3ae4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #bd3af4 ,son of man1 behold ,i take from thee the desire of thy eyes with a stroke1 and thou shall not lament1 nor weep2 neither shall thy tears run down4 #bd3ag4 ,sigh in silence1 make no mourning for the dead3 let the tire of thy head be upon thee1 and thy shoes on thy feet1 and cover not thy face1 nor eat the meat of mourners4 #bd3ah4 ,so ,i spoke to the people in the morning1 and my wife died in the evening3 and ,i did in the morning as he had commanded me4 #bd3ai4 ,and the people said to me3 ,why dost thou not tell us what these things mean that thou doest8 #bd3bj4 ,and ,i said to them3 ,the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #bd3ba4 ,speak to the house of ,israel3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i will profane my sanctuary1 the glory of your realm1 and the thing that your eyes desire1 and for which your soul feareth3 your sons1 and your daughters1 whom you have left1 shall fall by the sword4 #bd3bb4 ,and you shall do as ,i have done3 you shall not cover your faces1 nor shall you eat the meat of mourners4 #bd3bc4 ,you shall have crowns on your heads1 and shoes on your feet3 you shall not lament nor weep1 but you shall pine away for your iniquities1 and every one shall sigh with his brother4 #bd3bd4 ,and ,ezechiel shall be unto you for a sign of things to come3 according to all that he hath done1 so shall you do1 when this shall come to pass3 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord ,god4 #bd3be4 ,and thou1 ,o son of man1 behold in the day wherein ,i will take away from them their strength1 and strengthen the arms of the king of ,babylon1 and will put my sword in his hand3 and ,i will break the arms of ,pharao1 and they shall groan bitterly being slain before his face4 #cj3be4 ,and ,i will strengthen the arms of the king of ,babylon1 and the arms of ,pharao shall fall3 and they shall know that ,i am the ,lord1 when ,i shall have given my sword into the hand of the king of ,babylon1 and in the paradise of ,god1 envied him4 #ca3aj4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because he was exalted in height1 and shot up his top green and thick1 and his heart was lifted up in his height3 #ca3aa4 ,i have delivered him into the hands of the mighty one of the nations1 he shall deal with him3 ,i have cast him out according to his wickedness4 ,i have delivered444 ,here the time past is put for the future1 i4 e41 ,i shall deliver4--,ibid4 ,the mighty one1 etc444 ,viz41 ,nabuchodonosor1 who conquered both the ,assyrians and ,egyptians4 #ca3ab4 ,and strangers1 and the most cruel of the nations shall cut him down1 and cast him away upon the mountains1 and his boughs shall fall in every valley1 and his branches shall be broken on every rock of the country3 and all the people of the earth shall depart from his shadow1 and leave him4 #ca3ac4 ,all the fowls of the air dwelt upon his ruins1 and all the beasts of the field were among his branches4 #ca3ad4 ,for which cause none of the trees by the waters shall exalt themselves for their height3 nor shoot up their tops among the thick branches and leaves1 neither shall any of them that are watered stand up in their height3 for they are all delivered unto death to the lowest parts of the earth1 in the midst of the children of men1 with them that go down into the pit4 #ca3ae4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,in the day when he went down to hell1 ,i brought in mourning1 ,i covered him with the deep3 and ,i withheld its rivers1 and restrained the many waters3 ,libanus grieved for him1 and all the trees of the field trembled4 #ca3af4 ,i shook the nations with the sound of his fall1 when ,i brought him down to hell with them that descend into the pit3 and all the trees of pleasure1 the choice and best in ,libanus1 all that were moistened with waters1 were comforted in the lowest parts of the earth4 #ca3ag4 ,for they also shall go down with him to hell to them that are slain by the sword2 and the arm of every one shall sit down under his shadow in the midst of the nations4 #ca3ah4 ,to whom art thou like1 ,o thou that art famous and lofty among the trees of pleasure8 ,behold1 thou art brought down with the trees of pleasure to the lowest parts of the earth3 thou shalt sleep in the midst of the uncircumcised1 with them that are slain by the sword3 this is ,pharao1 and all his multitude1 saith the ,lord ,god4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #cb ,the prophet's lamentation for the king of ,egypt4 #cb3a4 ,and it came to pass in the twelfth year1 in the twelfth month1 in the first day of the month1 that the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #cb3b4 ,son of man1 take up a lamentation for ,pharao the king of ,egypt1 and say to him3 ,thou art like the lion of the nations1 and the dragon that is in the sea3 and thou didst push with the horn in thy rivers1 and didst trouble the waters with thy feet1 and didst trample upon their streams4 #cb3c4 ,therefore1 thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,i will spread out my net over thee with the multitude of many people1 and ,i will draw thee up in my net4 #cb3d4 ,and ,i will throw thee out on the land1 ,i will cast thee away into the open field and ,i will cause all the fowls of the air to dwell upon thee1 and ,i will fill the beasts of all the earth with thee4 #cb3e4 ,and ,i will lay thy flesh upon the mountains1 and will fill thy hills with thy corruption1 #cb3f4 ,and ,i will water the earth with thy stinking blood upon the mountains1 and the valleys shall be filled with thee4 #cb3g4 ,and ,i will cover the heavens1 when thou shalt be put out1 and ,i will make the stars thereof dark3 ,i will cover the sun with a cloud1 and the moon shall not give her light4 #cb3h4 ,i will make all the lights of heaven to mourn over thee and ,i will cause darkness upon thy land1 saith the ,lord ,god1 when thy wounded shall fall in the midst of the land1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #cb3i4 ,and ,i shall provoke to anger the heart of many people1 when ,i shall have brought in thy destruction among the nations upon the lands1 which thou knowest not4 #cb3aj4 ,and ,i will make many people to be amazed at thee1 and their kings shall be horribly afraid for thee1 when my sword shall begin to fly upon their faces3 and they shall be astonished on a sudden1 every one for his own life1 in the day of their ruin4 #cb3aa4 ,for thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,the sword of the king of ,babylon shall come upon thee1 #cb3ab4 ,by the swords of the mighty ,i will overthrow thy multitude3 all these nations are invincible3 and they shall waste the pride of ,egypt1 and the multitude thereof shall be destroyed4 #cb3ac4 ,i will destroy also all the beasts thereof that were beside the great waters3 and the foot of man shall trouble them no more1 neither shall the hoof of beasts trouble them4 #cb3ad4 ,then will ,i make their waters clear1 and cause their rivers to run like oil1 saith the ,lord ,god3 #cb3ae4 ,when ,i shall have made the land of ,egypt desolate3 and the land shall be destitute of her fulness1 when ,i shall have struck all the inhabitants thereof and they shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 #cb3af4 ,this is the lamentation1 and they shall lament therewith3 the daughters of the nations shall lament therewith for ,egypt1 and for the multitude thereof they shall lament therewith1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #cb3ag4 ,and it came to pass in the twelfth year1 in the fifteenth day of the month1 that the word of the ,lord came to me saying3 #cb3ah4 ,son of man1 sing a mournful song for the multitude of ,egypt3 and cast her down1 both her1 and the daughters of the mighty nations to the lowest part of the earth1 with them that go down into the pit4 #cb3ai4 ,whom dost thou excel in beauty8 go down and sleep with the uncircumcised4 #cb3bj4 ,they shall fall in the midst of them that are slain with the sword3 the sword is given1 they have drawn her down1 and all her people4 #cb3ba4 ,the most mighty among the strong ones shall speak to him from the midst of hell1 they that went down with his helpers and slept uncircumcised1 slain by the sword4 #cb3bb4 ,assur is there1 and all his multitude3 their graves are round about him1 all of them slain1 and that fell by the sword4 #cb3bc4 ,whose graves are set in the lowest parts of the pit3 and his multitude lay round about his grave3 all of them slain1 and fallen by the sword1 they that heretofore spread terror in the land of the living4 #cb3bd4 ,there is ,elam and all his multitude round about his grave1 all of them slain1 and fallen by the sword2 that went down uncircumcised to the lowest parts of the earth3 that caused their terror in the land of the living1 and they have borne their shame with them that go down into the pit4 #cb3be4 ,in the midst of the slain they have set him a bed among all his people3 their graves are round about him3 all these are uncircumcised1 and slain by the sword3 for they spread their terror in the land of the living1 and have borne their shame with them that descend into the pit3 they are laid in the midst of the slain4 #cb3bf4 ,there is ,mosoch1 and ,thubal1 and all their multitude3 their graves are round about him3 all of them uncircumcised and slain1 and fallen by the sword3 though they spread their terror in the land of the living4 #cb3bg4 ,and they shall not sleep with the brave1 and with them that fell uncircumcised1 that went down to hell with their weapons1 and laid their swords under their heads1 and their iniquities were in their bones1 because they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living4 #cb3bh4 ,so thou also shalt be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised1 and shalt sleep with them that are slain by the sword4 #cb3bi4 ,there is ,edom1 and her kings1 and all her princes1 who with their army are joined with them that are slain by the sword3 and have slept with the uncircumcised1 and with them that go down into the pit4 #cb3cj4 ,there are all the princes of the north1 and all the hunters3 who were brought down with the slain1 fearing1 and confounded in their strength3 who slept uncircumcised with them that are slain by the sword1 and have borne their shame with them that go down into the pit4 #cb3ca4 ,pharao saw them1 and he was comforted concerning all his multitude1 which was slain by the sword3 ,pharao1 and all his army1 saith the ,lord ,god3 #cb3cb4 ,because ,i have spread my terror in the land of the living1 and he hath slept in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that are slain by the sword3 ,pharao and all his multitude1 saith the ,lord ,god4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #cc ,the duty of the watchman appointed by ,god3 the justice of ,god's ways3 his judgments upon the ,jews4 #cc3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #cc3b4 ,son of man1 speak to the children of thy people1 and say to them3 ,when ,i bring the sword upon a land1 if the people of the land take a man1 one of their meanest1 and make him a watchman over them3 #cc3c4 ,and he sees the sword coming upon the land1 and sound the trumpet1 and tell the people3 #cc3d4 ,then he that heareth the sound of the trumpet1 whosoever he be1 and doth not look to himself1 if the sword come1 and cut him off3 his blood shall be upon his own head4 #cc3e4 ,he heard the sound of the trumpet1 and did not look to himself1 his blood shall be upon him3 but if he look to himself1 he shall save his life4 #cc3f4 ,and if the watchman see the sword coming1 and sound not the trumpet3 and the people look not to themselves1 and the sword come1 and cut off a soul from among them3 he indeed is taken away in his iniquity1 but ,i will require his blood at the hand of the watchman4 #cc3g4 ,so thou1 ,o son of man1 ,i have made thee a watchman to the house of ,israel3 therefore thou shalt hear the word from my mouth1 and shalt tell it them from me4 #cc3h4 ,when ,i say to the wicked3 ,o wicked man1 thou shalt surely die3 if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked man from his way3 that wicked man shall die in his iniquity1 but ,i will require his blood at thy hand4 #cc3i4 ,but if thou tell the wicked man1 that he may be converted from his ways1 and he be not converted from his way he shall die in his iniquity3 but thou hast delivered thy soul4 #cc3aj4 ,thou therefore1 ,o son of man1 say to the house of ,israel3 ,thus you have spoken1 saying3 ,our iniquities1 and our sins are upon us1 and we pine away in them3 how then can we live8 #cc3aa4 ,say to them3 ,as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god1 ,i desire not the death of the wicked1 but that the wicked turn from his way1 and live4 ,turn ye1 turn ye from your evil ways3 and why will you die1 ,o house of ,israel8 #cc3ab4 ,thou therefore1 ,o son of man1 say to the children of thy people3 ,the justice of the just shall not deliver him1 in what day soever he shall sin3 and the wickedness of the wicked shall not hurt him1 in what day soever he shall turn from his wickedness3 and the just shall not be able to live in his justice1 in what day soever he shall sin4 #cc3ac4 ,yea1 if ,i shall say to the just that he shall surely live1 and he1 trusting in his justice1 commit iniquity3 all his justices shall be forgotten1 and his iniquity1 which he hath committed1 in the same shall he die4 #cc3ad4 ,and it ,i shall say to the wicked3 ,thou shalt surely die3 and he do penance for his sin1 and do judgment and justice1 #cc3ae4 ,and if that wicked man restore the pledge1 and render what he had robbed1 and walk in the commandments of life1 and do no unjust thing3 he shall surely live1 and shall not die4 #cc3af4 ,none of his sins1 which he hath committed1 shall be imputed to him3 he hath done judgment and justice1 he shall surely live4 #cc3ag4 ,and the children of thy people have said3 ,the way of the ,lord is not equitable3 whereas their own way is unjust4 #cc3ah4 ,for when the just shall depart from his justice1 and commit iniquities1 he shall die in them4 #cc3ai4 ,and when the wicked shall depart from his wickedness1 and shall do judgments1 and justice1 he shall live in them4 #cc3bj4 ,and you say3 ,the way of the ,lord is not right1 ,i will judge every one of you according to his ways1 ,o house of ,israel4 #cc3ba4 ,and it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity1 in the tenth month1 in the fifth day of the month1 that there came to me one that was fled from ,jerusalem1 saying3 ,the city is laid waste4 #cc3bb4 ,and the hand of the ,lord had been upon me in the evening1 before he that was fled came3 and he opened my mouth till he came to me in the morning1 and my mouth being opened1 ,i was silent no more4 #cc3bc4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #cc3bd4 ,son of man1 they that dwell in these ruinous places in the land of ,israel1 speak1 saying3 ,abraham was one1 and he inherited the land1 but we are many1 the land is given us in possession4 #cc3be4 ,therefore say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,you that eat with the blood and lift up your eyes to your uncleannesses1 and that shed blood3 shall you possess the land by inheritance8 #cc3bf4 ,you stood on your swords1 you have committed abominations1 and every one hath defiled his neighbours wife2 and shall you possess the land by inheritance8 #cc3bg4 ,say thou thus to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,as ,i live1 they that dwell in the ruinous places1 shall fall by the sword3 and he that is in the field1 shall be given to the beasts to be devoured3 and they that are in holds1 and caves1 shall die of the pestilence4 #cc3bh4 ,and ,i will make the land a wilderness1 and a desert1 and the proud strength thereof shall fail1 and the mountains of ,israel shall be desolate1 because there is none to pass by them1 #cc3bi4 ,and they shall know that ,i am the ,lord1 when ,i shall have made their land waste and desolate1 for all their abominations which they have committed4 #cc3cj4 ,and thou son of man3 the children of thy people1 that talk of thee by the walls1 and in the doors of the houses1 and speak one to another each man to his neighbour1 saying3 ,come1 and let us hear what is the word that cometh forth from the ,lord4 #cc3ca4 ,and they come to thee1 as if people were coming in1 and my people sit before thee3 and hear thy words1 and do them not3 for they turn them into a song of their mouth1 and their heart goeth after their covetousness4 #cc3cb4 ,and thou art to them as a musical song which is sung with a sweet and agreeable voice3 and they hear thy words1 and do them not4 #cc3cc4 ,and when that which was foretold shall come to pass1 for behold it is coming1 then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #cd ,evil pastors are reproved4 ,christ the true pastor shall come1 and gather together his flock from all parts of the earth1 and preserve it for ever4 #cd3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 it saying3 #cd3b4 ,son of man1 prophesy concerning the shepherds of ,israel3 prophesy1 and say to the shepherds3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,woe to the shepherds of ,israel1 that fed themselves3 should not the flocks be fed by the shepherds8 ,shepherds444 ,that is1 princes1 magistrates1 chief priests1 and scribes4 #cd3c4 ,you ate the milk1 and you clothed yourselves with the wool1 and you killed that which was fat3 but my flock you did not feed4 #cd3d4 ,the weak you have not strengthened1 and that which was sick you have not healed1 that which was broken you have not bound up1 and that which was driven away you have not brought again1 neither have you sought that which was lost3 but you ruled over them with rigour1 and with a high hand4 #cd3e4 ,and my sheep were scattered1 because there was no shepherd and they became the prey of all the beasts of the field1 and were scattered4 #cd3f4 ,my sheep have wandered in every mountain1 and in every high hill3 and my flocks were scattered upon the face of the earth1 and there was none that sought them1 there was none1 ,i say1 that sought them4 #cd3g4 ,therefore1 ye shepherds1 hear the word of the ,lord3 #cd3h4 ,as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god1 forasmuch as my flocks have been made a spoil1 and my sheep are become a prey to all the beasts of the field1 because there was no shepherd3 for my shepherds did not seek after my flock1 but the shepherds fed themselves1 and fed not my flocks3 #cd3i4 ,therefore1 ye shepherds1 hear the word of the ,lord3 #cd3aj4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i myself come upon the shepherds1 ,i will require my flock at their hand1 and ,i will cause them to cease from feeding the flock any more1 neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more3 and ,i will deliver my flock from their mouth1 and it shall no more be meat for them4 #cd3aa4 ,for thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i myself will seek my sheep1 and will visit them4 #cd3ab4 ,as the shepherd visiteth his flock in the day when he shall be in the midst of his sheep that were scattered1 so will ,i visit my sheep1 and will deliver them out of all the places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day4 #cd3ac4 ,and ,i will bring them out from the peoples1 and will gather them out of the countries1 and will bring them to their own land3 and ,i will feed them in the mountains of ,israel1 by the rivers1 and in all the habitations of the land4 #cd3ad4 ,i will feed them in the most fruitful pastures1 and their pastures shall be in the high mountains of ,israel3 there shall they rest on the green grass1 and be fed in fat pastures upon the mountains of ,israel4 #cd3ae4 ,i will feed my sheep3 and ,i will cause them to lie down1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #cd3af4 ,i will seek that which was lost3 and that which was driven away1 ,i will bring again3 and ,i will bind up that which was broken1 and ,i will strengthen that which was weak1 and that which was fat and strong ,i will preserve1 and ,i will feed them in judgment4 #cd3ag4 ,and as for you1 ,o my flocks1 thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i judge between cattle and cattle1 of rams and of he goats4 #cd3ah4 ,was it not enough for you to feed upon good pastures8 but you must also tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures3 and when you drank the clearest water1 you troubled the rest with your feet4 #cd3ai4 ,and my sheep were fed with that which you had trodden with your feet3 and they drank what your feet had troubled4 #cd3bj4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god to you3 ,behold1 ,i myself will judge between the fat cattle and the lean4 #cd3ba4 ,because you thrusted with sides and shoulders1 and struck all the weak cattle with your horns1 till they were scattered abroad3 #cd3bb4 ,i will save my flock1 and it shall be no more a spoil1 and ,i will judge between cattle and cattle4 #cd3bc4 ,and ,i ,,will ,,set ,,up ,,one ,,shepherd ,,over ,,them1 and he shall feed them1 even my servant ,david3 he shall feed them1 and he shall be their shepherd4 ,david444 ,christ1 who is of the house of ,david4 #cd3bd4 ,and ,i the ,lord will be their ,god3 and my servant ,david the prince in the midst of them3 ,i the ,lord have spoken it4 #cd3be4 ,and ,i will make a covenant of peace with them1 and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land3 and they that dwell in the wilderness shall sleep secure in the forests4 #cd3bf4 ,and ,i will make them a blessing round about my hill3 and ,i will send down the rain in its season1 there shall be showers of blessing4 #cd3bg4 ,and the tree of the field shall yield its fruit1 and the earth shall yield her increase1 and they shall be in their land without fear3 and they shall know that ,i am the ,lord1 when ,i shall have broken the bonds of their yoke1 and shall have delivered them out of the hand of those that rule over them4 #cd3bh4 ,and they shall be no more for a spoil to the nations1 neither shall the beasts of the earth devour them3 but they shall dwell securely without1 any terror4 #cd3bi4 ,and ,i will raise up for them a bud of renown3 and they shall be no more consumed with famine in the land1 neither shall they bear any more the reproach of the ,gentiles4 ,a bud of renown444 ,germen nominatum4 ,he speaks of ,christ our ,lord1 the illustrious bud of the house of ,david1 renowned over all the earth4 ,see ,jer4 #cc4ae4 #cd3cj4 ,and they shall know that ,i the ,lord their ,god am with them1 and that they are my people the house of ,israel3 saith the ,lord ,god4 #cd3ca4 ,and you my flocks1 the flocks of my pasture are men3 and ,i am the ,lord your ,god1 saith the ,lord ,god4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #ce ,the judgment of mount ,seir1 for their hatred of ,israel4 #ce3a4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #ce3b4 ,son of man1 set thy face against mount ,seir1 and prophesy concerning it1 and say to it3 #ce3c4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i come against thee1 mount ,seir1 and ,i will stretch forth my hand upon thee1 and ,i will make thee desolate and waste4 #ce3d4 ,i will destroy thy cities1 and thou shalt be desolate3 and thou shalt know that ,i am the ,lord4 #ce3e4 ,because thou hast been an everlasting enemy1 and hast shut up the children of ,israel in the hands of the sword in the time of their affliction1 in the time of their last iniquity4 #ce3f4 ,therefore as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god1 ,i will deliver thee up to blood1 and blood shall pursue thee3 and whereas thou hast hated blood1 blood shall pursue thee4 #ce3g4 ,and ,i will make mount ,seir waste and desolate3 and ,i will take away from it him that goeth and him that returneth4 #ce3h4 ,and ,i will fill his mountains with his men that are slain3 in thy hills1 and in thy valleys1 and in thy torrents they shall fall that are slain with the sword4 #ce3i4 ,i will make thee everlasting desolations1 and thy cities shall not be inhabited3 and thou shalt know that ,i am the ,lord ,god4 #ce3aj4 ,because thou hast said3 ,the two nations1 and the two lands shall be mine1 and ,i will possess them by inheritance3 whereas the ,lord was there4 #ce3aa4 ,therefore as ,i live1 saith the ,lord ,god1 ,i will do according to thy wrath1 and according to thy envy1 which thou hast exercised in hatred to them3 and ,i will be made known by them1 when ,i shall have judged thee4 #ce3ab4 ,and thou shalt know that ,i the ,lord have heard all thy reproaches1 that thou hast spoken against the mountains of ,israel1 saying4 ,they are desolate1 they are given to us to consume4 #ce3ac4 ,and you rose up against me with your mouth1 and have derogated from me by your words3 ,i have heard them4 #ce3ad4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,when the whole earth shall rejoice1 ,i will make thee a wilderness4 #ce3ae4 ,as thou hast rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of ,israel1 because it was laid waste1 so will ,i do to thee3 thou shalt be laid waste1 ,o mount ,seir1 and all ,idumea3 and they shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #cf ,the restoration of ,israel1 not for their merits1 but by ,god's special grace4 ,christ's baptism4 #cf3a4 ,and thou son of man1 prophesy to the mountains of ,israel1 and say3 ,ye mountains of ,israel1 hear the word of the ,lord3 #cf3b4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because the enemy hath said to you3 ,aha1 the everlasting heights are given to us for an inheritance4 #cf3c4 ,therefore prophesy1 and say3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because you have been desolate1 and trodden under foot on every side1 and made an inheritance to the rest of the nations1 and are become the subject of the talk1 and the reproach of the people3 #cf3d4 ,therefore1 ye mountains of ,israel1 hear the word of the ,lord ,god3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god to the mountains1 and to the hills1 to the brooks1 and to the valleys1 and to desolate places1 and ruinous walls1 and to the cities that are forsaken1 that are spoiled1 and derided by the rest of the nations round about4 #cf3e4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,in the fire of my zeal ,i have spoken of the rest of the nations1 and of all ,edom1 who have taken my land to themselves1 for an inheritance with joy1 and with all the heart1 and with the mind3 and have cast it out to lay it waste4 #cf3f4 ,prophesy therefore concerning the land of ,israel1 and say to the mountains1 and to the hills1 to the ridges1 and to the valleys3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i have spoken in my zeal1 and in my indignation1 because you have borne the shame of the ,gentiles4 #cf3g4 ,therefore thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,i have lifted up my hand1 that the ,gentiles who are round about you1 shall themselves bear their shame4 #cf3h4 ,but as for you1 ,o mountains of ,israel1 shoot ye forth your branches1 and yield your fruit to my people of ,israel3 for they are at hand to come4 #cf3i4 ,for ,i1 ,i am for you1 and ,i will turn to you1 and you shall be ploughed and sown4 #cf3aj4 ,and ,i will multiply men upon you1 and all the house of ,israel3 and the cities ball be inhabited1 and the ruinous places shall be repaired4 #cf3aa4 ,and ,i will make you abound with men and with beasts3 and they shall be multiplied1 and increased3 and ,i will settle you as from the beginning1 and will give you greater gifts1 than you had from the beginning3 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 #cf3ab4 ,and ,i will bring men upon you1 my people ,israel1 and they shall possess thee for their inheritance3 and thou shalt be their inheritance1 and shalt no more henceforth be without them4 #cf3ac4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,because thy say of you3 ,thou art a devourer of men1 and one that suffocatest thy nation3 #cf3ad4 ,therefore thou shalt devour men no more nor destroy thy nation any more1 saith the ,lord ,god4 #cf3ae4 ,neither will ,i cause men to hear in thee the shame of the nations any more1 nor shalt thou bear the reproach of the people1 nor lose thy nation any more1 saith the ,lord ,god4 ,nor lose thy nation any more444 ,this whole promise principally relates to the church of ,christ1 and ,god's perpetual protection of her3 for as to the carnal ,jews1 they have been removed out of their land these sixteen hundred years4 #cf3af4 ,and the word of the ,lord came to me1 saying3 #cf3ag4 ,son of man1 when the house of ,israel dwelt in their own land1 they defiled it with their ways1 and with their doings3 their way was before me like the uncleanness of a menstruous woman4 #cf3ah4 ,and ,i poured out my indignation upon them for the blood which they had shed upon the land1 and with their idols they defiled it4 #cf3ai4 ,and ,i scattered them among the nations1 and they are dispersed through the countries3 ,i have judged them according to their ways1 and their devices4 #cf3bj4 ,and when they entered among the nations whither they went1 they profaned my holy name1 when it was said of them3 ,this is the people of the ,lord1 and they are come forth out of his land4 #cf3ba4 ,and ,i have regarded my own holy name1 which the house of ,israel hath profaned among the nations to which they went in4 #cf3bb4 ,therefore thou shalt say to the house of ,israel3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,it is not for your sake that ,i will do this1 ,o house of ,israel1 but for my holy name's sake1 which you have profaned among the nations whither you went4 #cf3bc4 ,and ,i will sanctify my great name1 which was profaned among the ,gentiles1 which you have profaned in the midst of them3 that the ,gentiles may know that ,i am the ,lord1 saith the ,lord of hosts1 when ,i shall be sanctified in you before their eyes4 #cf3bd4 ,for ,i will take you from among the ,gentiles1 and will gather you together out of all the countries1 and will bring you into your own land4 #cf3be4 ,and ,i will pour upon you clean water1 and you shall be cleansed from all your filthiness1 and ,i will cleanse you from all your idols4 #cf3bf4 ,and ,i will give you a new heart1 and put a new spirit within you3 and ,i will take away the stony heart out of your flesh1 and will give you a heart of flesh4 #cf3bg4 ,and ,i will put my spirit in the midst of you3 and ,i will cause you to walk in my commandments1 and to keep my judgments1 and do them4 #cf3bh4 ,and you shall dwell in the land which ,i gave to your fathers1 and you shall be my people1 and ,i will be your ,god4 #cf3bi4 ,and ,i will save you from all your uncleannesses3 and ,i will call for corn1 and will multiply it1 and will lay no famine upon you4 #cf3cj4 ,and ,i will multiply the fruit of the tree1 and the increase of the field1 that you bear no more the reproach of famine among the nations4 #cf3ca4 ,and you shall remember your wicked ways1 and your doings that were not good3 and your iniquities1 and your wicked deeds shall displease you4 #cf3cb4 ,it is not for your sakes that ,i will do this1 saith the ,lord ,god1 be it known to you3 be confounded1 and ashamed at your own ways1 ,o house of ,israel4 #cf3cc4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,in the day that ,i shall cleanse you from all your iniquities1 and shall cause the cities to be inhabited1 and shall repair the ruinous places1 #cf3cd4 ,and the desolate land shall be tilled1 which before was waste in the sight of all that passed by1 #cf3ce4 ,they shall say3 ,this land that was untilled is become as a garden of pleasure3 and the cities that were abandoned1 and desolate1 and destroyed1 are peopled and fenced4 #cf3cf4 ,and the nations1 that shall be left round about you1 shall know that ,i the ,lord have built up what was destroyed1 and planted what was desolate1 that ,i the ,lord have spoken and done it4 #cf3cg4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,moreover in this shall the house of ,israel find me1 that ,i will do it for them3 ,i will multiply them as a flock of men1 #cf3ch4 ,as a holy flock1 as the flock of ,jerusalem in her solemn feasts3 so shall the waste cities be full of flocks of men3 and they shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #cg ,a vision of the resurrection of dry bones1 foreshewing the deliverance of the people from their captivity4 ,juda and ,israel shall be all one kingdom under ,christ4 ,god's everlasting ,i answered3 ,o ,lord ,god1 thou knowest4 #cg3d4 ,and he said to me3 ,prophesy concerning these bones2 and say to them3 ,ye dry bones1 hear the word of the ,lord4 #cg3e4 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god to these bones3 ,behold1 ,i will send spirit into you1 and you shall live4 ,spirit444 ,that is1 soul1 life1 and breath4 #cg3f4 ,and ,i will lay sinews upon you1 and will cause flesh to grow over you1 and will cover you with skin3 and ,i will give you spirit and you shall live1 and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord4 #cg3g4 ,and ,i prophesied as he had commanded me3 and as ,i prophesied there was a noise1 and behold a commotion3 and the bones came together1 each one1 its joint4 #cg3h4 ,and ,i saw1 and behold the sinews1 and the flesh came up upon them3 and the skin was stretched out over them1 blow upon these slain1 and let them live again4 #cg3aj4 ,and ,i prophesied as he had commanded me3 and the spirit came into them1 and they lived3 and they stood up upon their feet1 an exceeding great army4 #cg3aa4 ,and he said to me3 ,son of man3 ,all these bones are the house of ,israel3 they say3 ,our bones are dried up1 and our hope is lost1 and we are cut off4 #cg3ab4 ,therefore prophesy1 and say to them3 ,thus saith the ,lord ,god3 ,behold ,i will open your graves1 and will bring you out of your sepulchres1 ,o my people3 and will bring you into the land of ,israel4 #cg3ac4 ,and you shall know that ,i am the ,lord1 when ,i shall have opened your sepulchres1 and shall have brought you out of your graves1 ,o my people3 #cg3ad4 ,and shall have put my spirit in you1 and you shall live1 and holocaust4 #dj3ci4 ,and in the porch of the gate were two tables on this side1 and two tables on that side3 that the holocaust1 and the sin offering1 and the trespass offering might be slain thereon4 #dj3dj4 ,and on the outward side1 which goeth up to the entry of the gate that looketh toward the north1 were two tables3 and at the other side before the porch of the gate were two tables1 #dj3da4 ,four tables were on this side1 and four tables on that side at the sides of the gate were eight tables1 upon which they slew the victims4 #dj3db4 ,and the four tables for the holocausts were made of square stones3 one cubit and a half long1 and one cubit and a half broad1 and one cubit high3 to lay the vessels upon1 in which the holocaust and the victim is slain4 #dj3dc4 ,and the borders of them which was on the side of the gate that looketh to the north3 and their prospect was towards the south1 one at the side of the east gate1 which looketh toward the north4 #dj3de4 ,and he said to me3 ,this chamber1 which looketh toward the south shall be for the priests that watch in the wards of the temple4 #dj3df4 ,but the chamber that looketh towards the north shall be for the priests that watch over the ministry of the altar4 ,these are the sons of ,sadoc1 who among the sons of ,levi1 come near to the ,lord1 to minister to him4 #dj3dg4 ,and he measured the court a hundred cubits long1 and a hundred cubits broad foursquare3 and the altar that was before the face of the temple4 #dj3dh4 ,and he brought me into the porch of the temple3 and he measured the porch five cubits on this the parts of it4 #da3a4 ,and he brought me into the temple1 and he measured the fronts six cubits broad on this side1 and six cubits on that side1 the breadth of the tabernacle4 ,the temple444 ,this plan of a temple1 which was here shewn to the prophet in a vision1 partly had relation to the material temple1 which was to be rebuilt3 and partly1 in a mystical sense1 to the spiritual temple of ,god1 the church of ,christ4 #da3b4 ,and the breadth of the gate was ten cubits3 and the sides of the gate five cubits on this side1 and five cubits on that side3 and he measured the length thereof forty cubits1 and the breadth twenty cubits4 #da3c4 ,then going inward he measured the front of the gate two cubits3 and the gate six cubits1 and the breadth of the gate seven cubits4 #da3d4 ,and he measured the length thereof twenty cubits1 and the breadth twenty cubits1 before the face of the temple3 and he said to me3 ,this is the holy of holies4 #da3e4 ,and he measured the wall of the house six cubits3 and the breadth of every side chamber four cubits round about the house on every side4 #da3f4 ,and the side chambers one by another1 were twice thirty-three3 and they bore outwards1 that they might enter in through the wall of the house in the sides round about1 to hold in1 and not to touch the wall of the temple4 ,one by another444 ,or one over another2 literally1 side to side1 or side upon side4 #da3g4 ,and there was a broad passage round about1 going up by winding stairs1 and it led into the upper loft of the temple all round3 therefore was the temple broader in the higher parts3 and so from the lower parts they went to the higher by the midst4 #da3h4 ,and ,i saw in the house the height round about1 the foundations of the side chambers which were the measure of a reed the space of six cubits3 #da3i4 ,and the thickness of the wall for the side chamber without1 which was five cubits3 and the inner house was within the side chambers of the house1 ,and the inner house was within the side chambers of the house444 ,because these side chambers were in the very walls of the temple all round4 ,or1 it may also be rendered 7more agreeably to the ,hebrew7 so as to signify that the thickness of the wall for the side chamber within1 was the same as that of the wall without2 that is1 equally five cubits4 #da3aj4 ,and between the chambers was the breadth of twenty cubits round about the house on every side4 #da3aa4 ,and the door of the side chambers was turned towards the place of prayer3 one door was toward the north1 and another door was toward the south3 and the breadth of the place for prayer1 was five cubits round about4 #da3ab4 ,and the building that was separate1 and turned to the way that looked toward the sea1 was seventy cubits broad and the wall of the building1 five cubits thick round about3 and ninety cubits long4 #da3ac4 ,and he measured the length of the house1 a hundred cubits3 and the separate building1 and the walls thereof1 a hundred cubits in length4 #da3ad4 ,and the breadth before the face of the house1 and of the separate place toward the east1 a hundred cubits4 #da3ae4 ,and he measured the length of the building over against it1 which was separated at the back of it3 and the galleries on both sides a hundred cubits3 and the inner temple1 and the porches of the court4 #da3af4 ,the thresholds1 and the oblique windows1 and the galleries round about on three sides1 over against the threshold of every one1 and floored with wood all round about3 and the ground was up to the windows1 and the windows were shut over the doors4 #da3ag4 ,and even to the inner house1 and without all the wall round about within and without1 by measure4 #da3ah4 ,and there were cherubims and palm trees wrought1 so that a palm tree was between a cherub and a cherub1 and every cherub had two faces4 #da3ai4 ,the face of a man was toward the palm tree on one side1 and the face of a lion was toward the palm tree on the other side3 set forth through all the house round about4 #da3bj4 ,from the ground even to the upper parts of the gate1 were cherubims and palm trees wrought in the wall of the temple4 #da3ba4 ,the threshold was foursquare1 and the face of the sanctuary sight to sight4 ,the threshold was foursquare444 ,that is1 the gate of the temple was foursquare3 and so placed as to answer the gate of the sanctuary within4 #da3bb4 ,the altar of wood was three cubits high3 and the length thereof was two cubits3 and the corners thereof1 aid the length thereof1 and the walls thereof1 were of wood4 ,and he said to me3 ,this is the table before the ,lord4 #da3bc4 ,and there were two doors in the temple1 and in the sanctuary4 #da3bd4 ,and in the two doors on both sides were two little doors1 which were folded within each other3 for there were two wickets on both sides of the doors4 #da3be4 ,and there were cherubims also wrought in the doors of the temple1 and the figures of palm trees1 like as were made on the walls3 for which cause also the planks were thicker in the front of the porch without4 #da3bf4 ,upon which were the oblique windows1 and the representation of palm trees on this side1 and on that side in the sides of the porch1 according to the sides of the house1 and the breadth of the walls4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #db ,a description of the courts1 chambers1 and other places belonging to the temple4 #db3a4 ,and he brought me forth into the outward court by the way that leadeth to the north1 and he brought me into the chamber that was over against the separate building1 and over against the house toward the north4 #db3b4 ,in the face of the north door was the length of hundred cubits1 and the breadth of fifty cubits4 #db3c4 ,over against the twenty cubits of the inner court1 and over against the pavement of the outward court that was paved with stone1 where there was a gallery joined to a triple gallery4 #db3d4 ,and before the chambers was a walk ten cubits broad1 looking to the inner parts of a way of one cubit4 ,and their doors were toward the north4 #db3e4 ,where were the store chambers lower above3 because they bore up the galleries1 which appeared above out of them from he lower parts1 and from the midst of the building4 #db3f4 ,for they were of three stories1 and had not pillars1 as the pillars of the courts3 therefore did they appear above out of the lower places1 and out of the middle places1 fifty cubits from the ground4 #db3g4 ,and the outward wall that went about by the chambers1 which were towards the outward court on the forepart of the chambers1 was fifty cubits long4 #db3h4 ,for the length of the chambers of the outward court was fifty cubits3 and the length before the face of the temple1 a hundred cubits4 #db3i4 ,and there was under these chambers1 an entrance from the east1 for them that went into them out of the outward court4 #db3aj4 ,in the breadth of the outward wall of the court that was toward the east1 over against the separate building1 and there were chambers before the building4 #db3aa4 ,and the way before them was like the chambers which were toward the north3 they were as long as they1 and as broad as they3 and all the going in to them1 and their fashions1 and their doors were alike4 #db3ab4 ,according to the doors of the chambers that were towards the south3 there was a door in the head of the way1 which way was before the porch1 separated towards the east as one entereth in4 #db3ac4 ,and he said to me3 ,the chambers of the north1 and the chambers of the south1 which are before the separate building3 they are holy chambers1 in which the priests shall eat1 that approach to the ,lord into the holy of holies3 there they shall lay the most holy things1 and the offering for sin1 and for trespass3 for it is a holy place4 #db3ad4 ,and when the priests shall have entered in1 they shall not go out of the holy places into the outward court3 but there they shall lay their vestments1 wherein they minister1 for they are holy3 and they shall put on other garments1 and so they shall go forth to the people4 #db3ae4 ,now when he had made an end of measuring the inner house1 he brought me out by the way of the gate that looked toward the east3 and he measured it on every side round about4 #db3af4 ,and he measured toward the east with the measuring reed1 five hundred reeds with the measuring reed round about4 #db3ag4 ,and he measured toward the north five hundred reeds with the measuring reed round about4 #db3ah4 ,and towards the south he measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed round about4 #db3ai4 ,and toward the west he measured five hundred reeds1 with the measuring reed4 #db3bj4 ,by the four winds he measured the wall thereof on every side round about1 five hundred cubits and five hundred cubits broad1 making a separation between the sanctuary and the place of the people4 ,ezechiel ,chapter #dc ,the glory of ,god returns to the new temple4 ,the ,israelites shall no more profane inner court3 and behold the house was filled with the glory of the ,lord4 #dc3f4 ,and ,i heard one speaking to me out of the house1 and the man that stood by me1 #dc3g4 ,said to me3 ,son of man1 the place of my throne1 and the place of the soles of my feet1 where ,i dwell in the midst of the children of ,israel for ever3 and the house of ,israel shall no more profane my holy name1 they and their kings by their fornications1 and by the carcasses of their kings1 and by the high places4 #dc3h4 ,they who have set their threshold by my threshold1 and their posts by my posts3 and there was but a wall between me1 and them3 and they profaned my holy name by the abominations which they committed3 for which reason ,i consumed them in my wrath4 #dc3i4 ,now therefore let them put away their fornications1 and the carcasses of their kings far from me3 and ,i will dwell in the midst of them for ever4 #dc3aj4 ,but thou1 son of man1 shew to the house of ,israel the temple1 and let them be ashamed of their iniquities1 and let them measure the building3 #dc3aa4 ,and be ashamed of all that they have done4 ,shew them the form of the house1 and of the fashion thereof1 the goings out and the comings in1 and the whole plan thereof1 and all its ordinances1 and all its order1 and all its laws1 and thou shalt write it in their sight3 that they may keep the whole form thereof1 and its ordinances1 and do them4 #dc3ab4 ,this is the law of the house upon the top of the mountain3 ,all its border round about2 most holy3 this then is the law of the house4 #dc3ac4 ,and these are the it1 and blood poured out4 #dc3ai4 ,and thou shalt give to the priests1 and the ,levites1 that are of the race of ,sadoc1 who approach to me1 saith the ,lord ,god1 to offer to me a calf of the herd for sin4 #dc3bj4 ,and thou shalt take of his blood1 and shalt put it upon the four horns thereof1 and upon the four corners of the brim1 and upon the crown round about3 and thou shalt cleanse1 and expiate it4 #dc3ba4 ,and thou shalt take the calf1 that is offered for sin3 and thou shalt burn him in a separate place of the house without the sanctuary4 #dc3bb4 ,and in the second day thou shalt offer a he
